I don't want you to know that Le Rendezvous has a killer French bistro area with a great happy hour and incredible service. I'd rather you also not know that the food is incredible and their mixed drinks are fun and one of a kind. I'd rather you stay away from the place and let me have my own private little Tucson secret, but in all fairness to Le Rendezvous they deserve to have people know they are one of Tucson's best kept secrets. Le Rendezvous is a French restaurant located in the heart of Tucson. We head here for my wife's birthday every year and leave happy every time. Our favorite is to sit in the bistro and take advantage of the wide selection of small plates they have available. When you are eating your escargot, baked Brie, and steamed mussels, you will get a smile on your face and realize that the French know the secret to a great meal... Butter and Booze... and lots of both. Give Le Rendezvous a shot, you won't be disappointed. read more

I can say the quality of the food and service was "tres magnifique"! We had the French onion soup, and the mussels to start and they were both great! The wife had the veal medallions, and I had the pepper crusted filet. I have to say the filet was superb. To finish we had the soufflé and the almond pithivier which was excellent! Would highly recommend. Nice interior too! read more

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary there last evening. It was ou first-time at this wonderful restaurant. Diego was our server and he was a gem. The food was beyond delicious and presented beautifully. We will definitely be back and recommend this lovely place to anyone interested in fine dining. read more

Very intimate very nice! Food was very delicious and staff was amazing. The setting was very dim and perfect for any occasion

This is the best fancy, sit down restaurant we have been to in Tucson. Great wine list. Better food. Of course, it is a bit pricey. That being said, you get what you pay for. The scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious. The same goes for the salmon. The French onion soup was delectable. And the brie was tasty! The staff was attentive but not overbearing. We will make this a regular, we're looking for a fancy night out. read more

Le Rendez-vous - Pan Seared Scallop - French Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

I went here for my anniversary dinner. Food, drinks and service were excellent. I'd recommend dining either early or late before a crowd hits because it can be a little noisy but not uncomfortable. We both had beef Wellington and dessert. Excellent all around! read more

Came here for happy hour and to try a few things. I've heard this place was awesome, and after trying it, I whole-heartedly agree. What we had: * Snails * Mini Beef Wellington * Mussels * Scallop * 2 Beers Grand total was $40 and we were stuffed. The only complaint that I would have is that the happy hour is only in the front cafe area, not in the back room with the white cloth covered tables. This is no biggie, but in the summer, the temperature in this front room was very warm. I mentioned something and our server adjusted the thermostat which was nice. I would definitely come back and have everything I just listed again. Especially at $40. I'll just make sure to come back when it's cooler ;) read more

oh mon Dieu! I've been wanting to try this place for years and boy oh boy did it meet my high expectations. Boy oh boy! My fiancé and I wanted to celebrate our fifth anniversary with some fancy-schmancy French food and knew we had to finally visit Le Rendez-vous...we chose wisely. We had a reservation and were seated immediately by very friendly staff. Although they seemed short-staffed we never felt ignored or not taken care of. After some perfectly constructed house cocktails, we started with Escargots au Chablis (snails!) and the Trio de Champignons (mushrooms and brie). Both were excellent. If you've never had escargot before, try it here. All that garlic and butter will make you forget about what you're eating! Among the best I've ever had. We wanted to each have a different entree so we could sample more options but when I saw "pan seared jumbo scallops" I knew I had to have it. She did too. We both chose wisely. Just...incredible. I'm still thinking about them. And to finish, we shared the crème brûlée and it blew our gosh darn minds. Top three we've ever had. Le Rendezvous is exactly what we hoped it would be and so much more. We'll be back. read more

Let's start with dessert, the best place for any meal to start. The chocolate"pudding," which should have been called a chocolate triffle was delicious, easily five star even if its presentation would have been enhanced with a better glass, one that had straight sides, and a proper parfait spoon. In fact, presentation was a consistent problem with this good meal. My pate was crowded on a small plate. Yes, it was a small plate special but it looked messy. My roasted beets with chevre lacked any hint of garnish, not even a sprig of green. However, it was yummy. My wife's confit duck, a regular size portion was also messy. One outstanding thing was the free glass of wine for checking in on Yelp. It was a nice Malbec. They didn't charge for my espresso, which was dishwasher. I must say the nice server needs barista training. I love French cuisine, but this menu is a bit stuck in time. The prices for dinner are a bit high, but the small plates and lunch specials are a good buy. Oh, the space is pleasant; The main room almost a patio but temperature controlled. Next time The escargot. read more

My husband and I went to Le Rendezvous on 7/15/23 for our fifteen year anniversary. Unfortunately for us they had a pre fixe menu on that day (even though Bastille Day way the day before) for a French 'holiday'. Like idiots we didn't turn around and choose another restaurant. But, I made my reservation in May and relied on Le Rendezvous reputation and hoped for the best. The only thing I had that evening that was good were the cocktails and wine. I was disappointed from start to end. I feel absolutely cheated by Le Rendezvous. The amuse bouche was absolutely uninspired. It tasted like something you could purchase from Bashas deli. But it was just amuse bouche, so I guess no harm. Next we ordered the 'French' onion soup-and it was horrible. The menu said it had a puff pastry on top, and it didn't-it was some sort of weird film. The soup part tasted weird and sweet and like it had cinnamon in it. It wasn't good at all. Next was the entree: my husband chose the frog legs, and I chose the bone marrow. Both were bland, and there was hardly any marrow in the bone. There was no seasoning on it. I love bone marrow, and this was sub par. My husband let me try his frog legs-not good. By this time I realized I made a horrible mistake by selecting this restaurant. I was so sad because I really wanted this to be special for our anniversary. I wanted other things off the regular menu, and nothing on the pre fixe menu even came close. On to the main course: we both chose the steak Diane. Although my husband was ok with it, I hated mine. It was bland. It didn't look eye appealing. By this time I was really over this dinner. But, there was one more course-dessert. I selected the eclair...which it was not. The menu states that it would be a choux pastry filled with pastry creme. They must have run out of the real eclairs because what I got was two stale Madeline's half dipped in chocolate. It was NOT and eclair at all, and it certainly wasn't filled with any pastry cream. Le Rendezvous ruined my 15 year anniversary. It was so disappointing. My husband said we should go back when they have their regular menu, but I will never go back again. The $109.00 per person spent on the Bastille Day per fixe menu was all the money I want to throw at this place. Talk about phoning it in. What a shame and a waste. read more

C'est si bon! We've been coming to this bijou of a restaurant after finding it by accident in 2007. It was delicious then and, if possible, it's even better 17 years later. An intimate venue with both a very comfortable formal dining room and more casual "patio" area, this is the place we bring all our out-of-town guests and our three adult daughters and their families when they're visiting. As if we needed another example, our dinner last night was merveilleux. We were welcomed by Diego and his very capable staff as if we were visiting royalty, and one of Diego's signature Cosmos was waiting for me. My husband and I split the escargots - tender, juicy morsels served with all the fresh, warm bread necessary to soak up the garlic butter - then the trio de champignons - warm brie and a variety of toothsome mushrooms nestled in golden puff paste - and finally, foie gras that would make the angels applaud, served with homemade, wafer-thin crostini and micro greens. While usually not a dessert girl, I can never resist their Grand Mariner soufflé with homemade, flavored whipped cream to top the evening off. The beautiful setting, the service par excellence, and the delicious food (don't forget to check out their daily specials) - even Carthusian monks would shout for joy. One more benefit - there's plenty of free parking. Hurry up and go to Le Rendezvous! read more

Old school French. Sweetbreads, beef Wellington and Souffle. Wine list is very reasonable. Is there something wrong with a menu that could have been printed in 1955 or 1928? Some things don't need to be new and edgy. Classic and timeless, thank you very much. Please don't ever change. read more

A new friend turned me on to a new restaurant and experience. We went in the early evening for small plates although we deviated a bit. We each ordered the dinner order of escargot, the Wellington small plate, a drink and shared the Grand Marnier Souffle which melted in our mouths. We probably should have ordered different plates so we could sample but my friend recommended what we ordered so highly it didn't make sense to experiment. We had a wonderful corner booth. Service was excellent. I want to take my adult children next time. read more

Phenomenal experience this evening. We sat in the bistro and ordered cocktails and sampled a wide variety of the small plates. They literally served us raw mussels, well some of them were cooked, some not...the one's not are the worst thing I've ever eaten (after we sent them back they still had it on the bill). Sea bass was good, but served on cold beet puree WTF? Scallops were filleted which I found strange, would rather have whole. When we got seated it took 13 minutes for them to get us a drink menu (I timed it)...seriously, it seems this place is resting on it's laurels, very expensive and not good at all. read more

Delicious but... not up to its aspirational snuff. We came relatively early for a Saturday (5:45) as a table of five. The restaurant was only 1/3 full but had reached capacity by the time we finished (7:15). Despite that we were often wanting for both attention and occasional extras - refills, silverware, ordering entrees and then desserts. Food was generally outstanding (we each got something different). Steaks and Chilean sea bass (daily special) were the best of the five entrees. Desserts were disappointingly average, save for the excellent gran mariner soufflé (Must order 45 min ahead!) and the (not on the menu) crepes Suzette. Parking is woefully insufficient and in a slightly seedy area. But inside atmosphere is very elegant. read more

My friend, who studies French, came into town and I thought it would be great to take him here. Oh my gosh my expectations were definitely exceeded! The staff was amazing and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I really liked the Brie en Croute and French Onion Soup. The Brie was baked into pastry and topped with apple and pear glazing. It was a great start to our meal. The French onion soup was smaller than I expected but it was delicious. As for dessert, we ordered the crème brûlée and "Rum baba". Both were absolutely fantastic! And their cappuccinos are on point as well. read more

Le Rendez-vous - Entrance - French Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

It's been a bit of time since our last visit. We were really excited to celebrate a significant family occasion. Our previous visit was outstanding. This review is only meant to be utilized as constructive feedback. The weather has been very warm. Our last visit was in the fall. So, I'm not sure if this is typical for the restaurant in summer months. It was uncomfortably hot inside. I felt bad for the staff from the beginning. And perhaps the heat inside was a contributing factor. The staff was very kind and attentive. The filet was overdone, but still had good flavor. The chef apologized and comped dessert. Then, the dessert was incorrectly made. There was ownership and apologies for the mistakes. I did not make a big deal about it and chalked it up to maybe it's tough times for everyone. We hope our next visit will be a better experience. read more

Very disappointing!! Service was not at all attentive----did not clear table in a timely manner, did not refill water, had to repeatedly ask for ice, did not replenish silverware when serving dessert. Food also disappointing, especially for the price. I have been there before and portions were much more generous. The Beef Wellington was embarrassingly small. I rarely finish my dinner, but last night easily finished even after having an appetizer. My friend's beef was lukewarm. Soufflé and crepes for dessert also disappointing......not great and very high-priced. This was a special-occasion meal and we left unsatisfied and feeling ripped-off. Would not recommend. read more

A group of us ate in the bistro section which is in the back of the restaurant where the entrance is. The first challenge was finding a parking space as parking options are very limited. However, it is worth getting to the restaurant wherever you park. The bistro area is not too large and includes a bar. The tables are marble-top without table clothes as compared to the "restaurant" area that does have table cloths. The great thing about the bistro is the "small plates" with reasonable prices and the happy hour for 1/2 price hors d'oeuvres. You can easily make a meal out a few small plates or hors d'oeuvres. The latter has larger portions. I had the beet salad (on the salad side, not the small plate) and it was delicious-thinly sliced beets with greens, vinegarette dressing and goat cheese. I had the crab-stuffed shrimp from the small plate menu which was very good and then had the coquilles st. Jacques (scallops with bread/cheese topping. The sauce was so good, it was worth dipping bread in it. The scallops in this dish and others were quite large and cooked nicely. The one thing that could have been better was the waiter service as some others have mentioned. Two people at our table that arrived just a little later than me were never asked if they wanted a drink and those of us that had a drink were never asked again. The servers that filled our water and brought bread were more attentive. It took a long time after we were done to get our bill and have it returned. They would do better to have some of the servers also be waiters. At a high end restaurant like this, you expect better service. The chairs we had at our table were nicely covered in a cloth but were rickety and uncomfortable. The other tables had more comfortable chairs. Two in our party were charged for something they did not have but it was quickly corrected. It was nice that with the yelp app on your phone you could get a free small plate when you "check-in" I'd go back for the food but it's a good idea to car-pool and allow enough time for the slow and spotty service. The food, though was very good. read more

I feel like this place is one of Tucson's best kept secrets. But, why oh why would you keep this place a secret? Authentic French dining is hard to find in Tucson. This review is meant to spread the word that the food here is delicious, the wine and drink list are admirable, the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the happy hour is unbelievable. Happy Hour I was shocked to discover that from 4-7 the appetizers are half off and there are drink specials. On my first visit I had a hard time deciding between all of the deliciously described options. Since then, I've tried them all and it's still impossible to make a decision. Next time I am taking friends so that we can order everything and pass it around so everyone can participate in the flavor expedition. Fine Dining As others have said, if you show up in jeans and a t-shirt you may feel under dressed. This place is technically fine dining, however, they will still treat you just the same if you come in your daily attire. At the same time, if you're looking to impress a date or celebrate a special occasion, I highly recommend sitting in the formal dining are of Le Rendez-Vous for a special treat. I'm salivating right now just thinking about all the rich flavors... read more

My wife and I have dined at this restaurant for years and despite the fact they have never updated their menu we have always been pleased. We could have picked anywhere to eat in Tucson and I was prepared to spend a lot of money for my daughter's first fine dining experience. The service could not have been worse! We actually saw a couple leave that never got helped. I understand the current landscape of the world but I've had better service at Applebee's. Really dissatisfied if my family hadn't been there I would have left. Never going back the owners should be embarrassed. read more

I feel that this is the best restaurant in all of Tucson. Not only is the food to die for, the wait staff is off the charts exceptional. Being a fairly small restaurant we have to ability to chat with neighboring diners and share which foods we absolutely enjoy. My family and I arrived without reservation at 5:30pm yesterday (a Wednesday). We haven't been back since Daniel left, but I was hoping for my sweetbreads followed by table side crepes Suzette nonetheless. The parking lot was barren. We made the 3rd car. We entered, and saw 2 tables in the first dining area. Jeff, an employee of some sort, asked us if we had a reservation. Then he told us that they are fully booked without a reservation. We asked until what time, and he told us 7:30pm. I find this completely hard to believe in September on a Wednesday night. What I find easier to believe is Jeff, in my humble opinion, sized us up by our looks or clothing and decided we weren't worth serving. We were dressed casually as it was 102 degrees, so t-shirts etc. However, we had dined here as often as twice per month under Daniel's management and never dressed up for the occasion, and were always welcomed warmly from the first occasion to the last time I was here. Had Jeff told us that we weren't dressed appropriately, I would have accepted that, as there are dress codes - what he said, however, was that they were completely booked and not accepting any more large parties because of 1 large party coming in. A party of 5 is hardly large, and easily accommodated with an empty dining room (and the appearance of an empty dining room behind it as well, and an empty parking lot.) My humble opinion, I'd like to add, is based on years of experience managing the Arizona Inn's dining room, Canyon Ranch, consulting, and 150+ reviews that are read by 20,000 fellow Yelpers every 90 days. My family of 5 would have easily dropped $300 including tip, as we frequently do at Sullivan's, but Jeff would rather play to an empty dining room. So, we ate at Zayna's instead, which was delightful! read more

My in laws are snow birds and invited us to join them for Christmas. This is one of their favorite restaurants and I can definitely see why. The fresh bread they bring is out of this world. We had an array of foods and it did not disappoint. I tried frog legs for the first time and they really do taste like chicken. We came as a group of 8 for lunch and the only downside was the lack of staff. The one waiter was running his rear off and did a good job of trying to be attentive to each table. The food is worth the wait. read more

Amazing Food & Service! Officially my favorite restaurant in Tucson. If you haven't been here before, you're missing out!

We visited for our anniversary. We love French food and are visiting the Tucson area. The location is surprising and the building is difficult to identify. Once inside it's a charming place. The menu looked amazing and we both had decided what we wanted. Unfortunately, they were out of six of their menu items. ALL of which were our choices. We didn't want beef that night, so it made dinner very difficult, as that is almost all they had available. We started with the beet salad which had wilted greens and beets that came from a can. The Brie was good. The dinner was delicious. The peppercorn steak was cooked perfectly and the potatoes and veggies were very good. I lucked out and was able to get scallops. They were lovely. We preordered the chocolate soufflé and devoured it. It was perfect!!! The service, as many other reviewers said, was not fine dining. No one cleared dishes. No one paid any attention or checked on you. It was not a warm feeling place at all. I most likely will never return but enjoyed the meal. I'll blame it on Covid. That seems to be the norm now. read more
