Horrible host, the host was very rude and unwelcome... when we asked if we could be seated earlier, she said "we will not have any seats for you until your reservation time" and when we asked why we share table with other customers, she was like "well we all share tables" and she turned away! not feeling valued here at all. No customer services at all. Food was okay, not as impressive as what everyone was saying. I had better French food before. The impressive part for food is the house made Carmel toffee ... that's about it... Sockeye dinner was okay, they had the ingredients but didn't apply well at all, surely not worth the price. i first tried this place for lunch. my friend got the œuf plats while i got les tartines with the warm gruyère. pretty simple plates we ordered but they were so fresh and well-prepared. we also got the beignets with goat cheese which was definitely our favorite part. i'm not even some fancy french food aficionado or anything, but i still think about that country bread that came with my tartines more recently, i brought my partner (who has actually been to france) for dinner, and they LOVED it. the entire experience was incredible. the inside is pretty small but it is wonderfully decorated with real tile floors & pictures and posters of france. we had a lovely waitress who guided us through the menu, too. we started with a petit charcuterie: chicken liver, duck liver, and beef tongue. this was actually my first time trying liver; it was absolutely delicious. for dinner, i ordered the confit de canard (duck). the outside is wonderfully charred but the meat itself falls off the bone so easily that i didn't even have to use my knife. it is paired with cheesey grits that i loved (and i don't even really like grits) plus some fresh apricots. my partner ordered the bavette grillée et frites, which may seem simpler but it was glazed with cognac and black garlic. it reminded them of the first meal they had in paris, it was just that good. to finish our incredible meal, we got the chocolat chaud: basically, a warm, parisian-style chocolate mousse with their fresh whipped cream. the way it tasted was, to me, the definition of the word "decadent." this place should be a seattle staple if it isn't already. read more

C'est délicieux! Le Pichet is a great little French restaurant right in downtown Seattle. It offers an inviting ambiance, with lots of art, wine, & vintage ads on the walls. It's fairly small, so reservations for dinner are a good idea. I've been a couple times now - most recently had the duck sausage special with mashed potatoes, onions, mushrooms, & chicken liver wine sauce. It was a great blend of flavors - like a gourmet comfort food. A few others had the steak frites (bavette grillée), which looked phenomenal. The service was friendly and the bartender makes a tasty Sazerac as well. Only minor gripe is that seating is tight in the bar area - you'll have to squeeze past your neighbors to get in or out. read more

I've had this place bookmarked since my first trip to Seattle. Never had a chance to visit due to timing. Finally lucked out on my most recent trip on a Sunday! We decided to build our own charcuterie plate. It was a not brainer for me to choose all 3 pate/liver options!! What We Ordered - Pork Pate - Chicken Liver - Duck Liver - Beef Tongue - Sausage with Herbs It was everything I expected and more! Cute little spot for a catchup with the girls! Came on a Sunday at 2 pm and the place was fairly empty. There's an extensive wine list and a few different food items to choose from. We opted to do the charcuterie board and goat cheese beignets. The beignets were so good-- crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the interior. The selection of charcuterie was fun as well, with the stand out being the pate. These two dishes plus a glass of wine each were more than enough for 3 girls who were mildly hungry. I went there for lunch during the week. I found a street parking easily for $4 an hour. It was not busy with several customers in the restaurant. It was my first time there, not sure what to get, so I ordered what they recommended, a plate with chicken liver, sausage with pistachio, and pork pate. It was not bad, not amazing. The baguette was good. The service was the same, not bad not outstanding. Maybe $14 for a lunch in that area is a good deal. Maybe I'm not French and didn't know how to appreciate it. Parlez-vous français (Do you speak French?) Well, it's a definite hell "no" for me but I've learned you don't need to know the language in order to appreciate good food. Le Pichet is a quaint bistro near Pike Place Market with some tasty French food options. It's definitely a place where I imagine people having nice dinner conversations with friends. I've been to Le Pichet twice with no complaints. To elaborate more on my last visit, I came here a couple of months back to celebrate my birthday. One tip - Definitely reserve a table ahead of time if you can, especially since it's a pretty small location and it gets busy during peak weekend hours. I ordered the charcuterie board (aka Assiette de charcuterie) to share and the steak frites (aka Bavette grillée, onions braises, bettes à carde et frites) for my individual tummy. The charcuterie board had a nice variety of pates, terrines, and cured meats that paired cohesively with bread. As for the steak, the beef was cooked well at my requested medium rare and the flavor/seasoning was pretty spot on. The skirt steak didn't have too little or too much salt and pepper. They did put a generous helping of butter on top to melt on the steak. For me, it was a bit too much so I only used a third of the butter. However, for those who love the rich, velvety feel, you can definitely smother the butter on your steak to your decadent heart's delight. Overall, I'd give Le Pichet a solid 4/3.5 stars for food, atmosphere, value and service. read more

I had a sense that I was joining the staff for dinner. My duck confit was much more meat than I expected and was surrounded with fresh vegetables in a delicious sauce. A local recommended this thinking it'll be a formal French dining. Come to find out it was a hole in the wall on 1st Ave. We came in with a reservation but there wasn't really a bunch of customers when we came in. As the night progresses, people came in and it was almost packed since the restaurant was not that big anyway. We ordered the asparagus salad with crostini, skirt steak and fish of the day (trout) with a glass of red wine. The skirt steak was well seasoned but not as tender and quite hard to chew even though it was ordered medium rare. The grilled trout was good, in fairness, but it came with a cabbage which included its core (see picture) that gave it a bitter taste. Not sure why they used that part of the cabbage that is almost to the core which was hard and bitter. I was expecting a greener cabbage which would have given a better taste and a more appealing g presentation. The ambience was so bad. It was too loud and they left the door open so you can hear every motor driving by the restaurant. Because it is such a small dining area, between the women talking and laughing loud and kids just shouting and talking loud, my husband and I can barely hear each other. It was not a comfortable dinner. Service was not very prompt. Our food came 40 minutes later. Also we thought it was pricy and not commensurate to the quantity and quality of food. They automatically add a 20% service charge which I don't agree when restaurants add these charges automatically. I think It is more of a hassle to dispute if the server was not performing up and beyond what was expected. I mean, it is THEIR JOB to serve us since we are dining in their restaurant so why would they automatically include a service charge when there's really nothing "above and beyond" in their service? Kinda a waste of money. "Too much frosting on a cake is too much frosting". That's how I felt about the food, lots of dressed up foods. Similarly the interior of the restaurant feels fake-old. Anyone can add salt or butter to a dish. Making the it taste good without it, that's the real trick! Don't recommend, just expensive. read more

For my second visit to Seattle, this place was my first meal after arriving from the airport. I ordered the Oefs Plats, Jambon et Fromage ($14) and the Yaourt Fabrication Maison au Miel et Noix ($7). The former is basically an egg dish broiled with ham and gruyere cheese, and the latter is a cup of yogurt with honey and walnuts. They also gave us some bread and butter. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the eggs were broiled a bit longer than I would have liked since the yolks were completely solid when we cut into them. I usually prefer my yolks a bit more runny, and that's how I've always broiled them as well. Otherwise though the dish tasted great. I liked scooping it up and eating it with the baguette that they provided. The yogurt was great as well. I think the walnuts were candied as they added a bit more sweetness to it. The yogurt itself was very smooth and runny, and the honey and walnuts added the flavor that it needed. Service was quick and friendly. Everything was brought out promptly and whenever we were in need of something they would quickly come over. It's a really cute place and it's nice to try out a French place in Seattle. I do wish that I could have tried their lunch menu now, because that looked good as well. read more

I want to start by saying the main reason I went here is due to the yelp ratings and a you tube video. One person said it is just like a cafe in Paris, that is very true, no a/c, no fans, no ice in your water glass and no one cares if you are hot. My steak was decent quality, sauce was nothing special. Steak fries not Pom frit( tiny fries). I asked about the 20%, which is posted everywhere, the restaurant does that so the house can take some of the servers money. I was told since minimum wage is high, the house wants to get some money back. That is disgusting. I would never go back! It was beautifully seasoned and so delicious, and the baguette and butter were tasty as well. I love how they gave us homemade caramels with our check, what a nice touch. Le Pichet has such a warm, charming atmosphere, it feels very cozy and cute, the kind of place that makes you want to linger. The rotisserie chicken was outstanding: moist, flavorful, and one of the best I've had. What took away from the experience, unfortunately, was the service. The server wasn't friendly, and I believe the owners (an older gentleman and a lady with glasses and bold red lipstick) came across the same way. While we were still enjoying dessert and a digestif, we were given the bill early because there were people waiting for a table. To be clear, this wasn't a case of us occupying a table without ordering, we had spent over $250 (incl 20% mandatory gratuity) for two people that evening. We sat down at 7pm and we received the check (without us asking) at 8.30pm. Overall, while the food is delicious and the venue itself is lovely, the hospitality left a lot to be desired. But trust me: they use the freshest, tastiest produce and ingredients in artful ways that delight all your senses. Staff are extremely committed and eager to share their knowledge. I love this jewel of a restaurant in Seattle. It feels like a neighborhood café in Paris. It's very small, so reservations are helpful. The service is good. Everyone was friendly in a reserved way which adds to the Parisian feel. The cocktail my husband had was excellent. The greens with hazelnut dressing was delicious. My husband loved his gnocchi ('like no other') with a glass of Gamay. My clams (the broth was delicious) were excellent with a glass of Muscadet. This is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Good for a casual stop in for drinks, for special occasions, and for bringing friends both local and out of town. My mom brought me to Le Pichet when I was a baby to teach me table manners and how to not be an asshole in a restaurant, so I really have grown up coming to this restaurant consistently. It's just the coziest and happiest place. Service is good, staff are so knowledgeable and kind and do the most to create a positive guest experience. My personal consistent picks for food are the salade verte, pâté albigeois (although I recommend getting the chef's pick charcuterie, that one is just a particular favorite), and the steak frites, although the chicken is the best as long as you've planned ahead. The chocolat chaud is the absolute perfect way to end a meal, the dark chocolate with the fresh whipped cream is just too gorgeous. La Baronesse has been my favorite drink recently but you can't go wrong. read more

Saw Le Pichet on one of the lists for best restaurants in Seattle. We called in the late afternoon to try and make a reservation, and were able to make one at 8:30pm (they close at 9pm). The interior resembled that of a pretty typical restaurant / cafe that you would find in Paris. The space was small & had an intimate atmosphere. Apparently their steak & frites is very popular, so out of curiosity I asked the waiter if there's anything they did differently that made their steak & frites special, but he just said that you can't go wrong with steak & frites. On the blackboard you can find a list of cheese selection they had at the time. Unfortunately they were out of the in-house artisan charcuterie selection for the day. We got 6 slices of baguette with butter for free, but the baguette came out cold & hard. Additional bread was available for $4. The fish of the day was a salmon. We ordered gnocchi and roasted duck breast. The roasted duck breast was cooked to medium rare & came with skin. By itself, it was a little bland, but it went well with the olives & fennel, which were very salty. The meat was a little too chewy & I struggled with cutting it. Highly recommend! My friend and I decided to stop in here for dinner for our first night while visiting Seattle. It's a very small restaurant so not a lot of available seating but they did have one table open up just as we were deciding to go somewhere else rather than wait (it already being 8:15pm and we were hungry from our flights). Our server greeted us and I asked her which one was the fruitiest or sweetest cocktail and ordered her recommendation (La Cosa Rosa) while my friend ordered the La Baronesse. While waiting for our drinks, we ordered our entrees and were given complimentary bread with butter. I wasn't a fan of my drink but did really like my friend's drink and when the server asked, she offered to have it remade to my friends drink. It was so great she offered and it showed such great customer service. I took the offer and the La Baronesse tasted so much better to me! For my entree, I got the duck confit while my friend got the steak which looked really good. My duck was delicious. It was very tender and not too salty to my taste and the salad that accompanied it was great. I also really loved the sun chokes and had to look up what the potato looking thing was (def not a potato though lol). Amazing flavors all around and both my friend and I loved our entrees. Yes, ignore the crowd at the brunch spot next door and head into Le Pichet instead. I wasn't sure what to order, but I wasn't craving the jambon et fromage. Our server suggested the sandwich, specifically the Parisian ham and gruyere on a baguette. Who would expect three simple ingredients to be so astoundingly good? I'm not religious, but I'm pretty sure I could be now. My partner got some pate and cheese, which was also some of the best we've had anywhere. Don't miss the bread and butter, either. I know it's free at some restaurants, but this one is absolutely worth paying for. I can see why Anthony Bourdain loved this place, along with so many locals.
