The food is midday French fare and the service was foul. We were greeted with a scowl and ignored when we were served. I was treated as though I was invisible and unwanted. read more

Food was good, service was great. The left the door open all night though and our friends were picking gnats out of their wine all night. I wasn't even drinking it but was losing my appetite due to the growing pile of dead bugs that were accumulating. read more

I came here for a dessert with a friend~ the server verbally listed the dessert options for us, and we had to ask her to repeat it. It was written on the chalkboard, so I guess their desserts change frequently. We ended up splitting a coconut rice pudding, which came with a shortbread cookie. We also ordered a couple dessert wines~ they were sweet and tasty. read more

Intimate authentic French restaurant that really makes you feel like you've transported to another country! Interior reminds me of a Parisian cafe. Came here on a Saturday as a party of 3, highly recommend calling for reservations. Food: 4.5/5 COMES WITH COMPLIMENTARY BREAD -Charcuterie: ordered the full plate size that comes with 5 choice meat items. Everything was delectable, my favorite was the pate paired with their bread. -Frise Salad with Pork Belly: Lightly fried pork belly that has a slight crisp to it without drying it out -1 hr Roasted Chicken: Serving for 2! Make sure you put this order in ASAP to your waiter since it really does take 1 whole hour to cook. This was one of my favorite main courses of the night. Chicken was so moist and the skin was flavorful and crisp. It comes with a side of dried bread pudding and roasted mushrooms, all paired really well. -Steak and Frites: Great cook on the skirt steak topped with a butter spread, can't go wrong! *chicken was still my favorite tho :p Service: 5/5 Our waiter was attentive and really helpful in curating the ideal experience for us. We asked for wine recommendations that would go well with our meal and he never pushed for us to order more/select an expensive wine just for the heck of it Overall I would come back again! Would love to try their baked eggs during lunch read more

My apologies for not having reviewed Le Pichet before. I don't live in the Seattle area, but this has been our go-to lunch spot for many years whenever we make it downtown. Happily, nothing seems to have changed. They make use of limited space with the decor being mostly made up of service items - stacks of plates, wine glasses, wine bottles, and the coffee prep area being prominently displayed. Food is simple and nicely prepared. My wife alternates between their sandwich on a baguette, and the broiled ham/egg/cheese dish. I'm a fan of the onion soup. One thing that I believe is new is very nicely implemented. A tip is added to the bill, and, kudos to them, there is no place on the check to add an additional tip. I despise places that add a tip without making it readily apparent, and then hope that you will unknowingly double it because they do not make it clear. Le Pichet's method is excellent - it is clearly stated on the menu, on the check, and a tip line's absence is perfect. Merci. read more

I don't know why so many people liked this place. I was there for a lunch many years ago. It was my first and last. I was being cheap, I ordered the cheapest sandwich at the time which was jambon de Bayonne. The bread was hard like steel. I thought I paid for it, I'd suffer through it. But then I started tasting something fishy in my mouth. I thought this was just ham, how could there be something fishy? Turned my I was tasting the blood from the inside of my mouth. I then stopped eating and walked out. read more

Food was hit or miss, service capricious. The roasted duck was desiccated and tough. Should not have been plated. When sent back to the kitchen, it was returned with the instruction to dig a little deeper for the good stuff. Visions of the turkey in Christmas Vacation. Eventually allowed to order something else, some kind of sausage special. Best thing I've eaten in ages. Service disappeared entirely for the second half and there was a strange tonal shift at the end whereby we were thanked for dining in a sardonic tone that felt misplaced in what had been a generally pleasant evening. We enjoyed the atmosphere, like a neighborhood cafe in France. If you are dining on a cold night there is no escape from the door so prepare to bundle up. read more

Great little French spot located very close to the Pike Place Market. Great coffee too!

I love this place! I always come here as a treat for something earned or just cause I need to get away! I always love the baguette from Grand Central and the butter is crack in my mouth! Of course as a salt addict, I have to add a ton of salt to the butter! The place is quaint, always comfy. About 12 tables in the restaurant and a small bar too close to the staff so it's quaint. The welcome is short but genuine, and as you sit down fresh bread and butter is set in front of you! I ordered the salad vert. Bib lettuce with just the right amount of vinaigrette and toasted hazelnuts. Always my tasty, the dressing is delicious! As my entree I ordered the Raclette! It's a melted cheese in a cast iron skillet! Ooey gooey goodness! That is always my favorite, and usually a winter item on their menu! So delicious! It comes with potatoes, cornichons pickled onions, ham, prosciutto, and salami. The combinations of the ham, cheese and cornichons are excellent! Of course, I had to have some red wine to accentuate all of the flavors going on in my mouth! A big glass of Bordeaux! I highly recommend! read more

We had lunch with wine at an outside table on the sidewalk. FOOD: 4.0 - Baguette: 4.5. Nice chewy crust with moist yet firm interior. - Arugula salad: 4.0 - Fennel soup (soup du jour): 4.0. Excellent cold soup, beautifully presented. A bit rich for our taste. - Tartine with pork rillette: 4.0. Went off my vegetarian bent to have this. Very filling. Moist darkish bread slathered with pork rillette and much butter. Satisfying, but next time I'll go for something lighter and greener. A glass of red wine cut the richness nicely. SERVICE: 4.0. Very attentive with good advice. Prompt. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Pleasant to eat outside, and the interior looked welcoming as well. read more

We used to come here regularly before the pandemic. Today was the first time we have come here after more than two year. unfortunately, we found the meal to be totally disappointing. I n addition, they automatically charge 30% ( tax & tips). Definitely not worth our money. Sorry to scratch this, what was once our staple, OFF our list ! read more

Small, very busy. Food typical French, tasty, fairly priced. Service friendly and well spaced

Sat at the bar without reservations. Ava's service was excellent and the meal was amazing. I had their duck breast with fennel which I normally don't enjoy but it was excellent. My wife had the fish of the day and it too was prepared well and delicious. I t takes a lot for me to give 5 stars so trust me when I say I recommend this restaurant and would go again. read more

I ate here twice during my stay in Seattle - once alone for breakfast and once for dinner with my husband. Breakfast was great- I had the baked ham and eggs dish and the house made yogurt, which was fantastic! Dinner was one of my favorite dining experiences I've had. The food was absolutely incredible. To start, we shared a charcuterie plate, olives, and the French onion soup. The soup has ruined me for all other soup - I dream about it still! We had the roast chicken for dinner which was absolutely worth the wait. We finished it off with the Parisian hot chocolate, which you absolutely cannot leave here without trying. The service was great- our waitress recommended a perfect wine to pair with everything, and was attentive the whole evening. The ambiance was lovely! We dined next to another couple but even though the atmosphere was intimate, we didn't feel like being close to other patrons hindered our experience at all. It felt cozy and like we had been transported to a cafe in France. When we visit Seattle again we'll be making a return trip! read more

We decided to stop by Le Pichet today for a late lunch. We ordered the country pate, chicken liver mousse, butternut squash soup, and onion soup. Food was good, especially the butternut squash soup. We could not finish the pate and mousse. Thus, we ask the server to pack the leftovers. When we arrived home, there was only one teaspoon of chicken liver mousse in our box. That teaspoon was about 90% less than the actual amount on our plate. Perhaps the wait staff accidentally dropped or discarded the chicken liver mousse. Who knows? Either way, it was dishonest and very disrespectful to shortchange the customer. They should have just made it right. Plenty of other options in that part of town. Definitely won't be patronizing this type of local business. read more

This local culinary institution is the closest think to France you will find in the western U.S. Somehow they have gotten it absolutely perfect on not only the food, but the authentic quaint bistro feel. Along with the wine and spirits list. It reminds me of a small neighborhood bistro you would find in a residential neighborhood on the left back, not known by tourists, but frequented by neighborhood residents. It is tiny, always packed, and feels like family here. Reservations an absolute must. read more

This used to be a favorite, but it had steadily declined. Mostly due to the service. Over 8 years we have dealt with surly waitstaff and just shrugged it off, but going to the forced march of 20% tip was the death blow. I have never tipped below that amount, but it had removed any incentive for the staff to be attentive and just plain friendly. Seattle has much more to offer than when we started going her 8 years ago. Time for us to cherish our memories and move on. read more

After dinner, we were looking for a spot for some hot drinks and dessert. Le Pichet was one of the few places recommended to us close to our hotel. For dessert we had their coconut rice pudding and also a bowl of chocolate and cream. I've never really had rice pudding but this was pretty outstanding in terms of the flavor. I know rice pudding isn't for everyone, but I really liked the coconut flavor and how they added some almonds on top to give it more of a crunch. Chocolate and cream - this is a genius idea and it's so simple. A bowl of cream with a hot cup of molten chocolate. Simply take your spoonful of cream and dip it into the chocolate. It's rich and feels indulgent. Probably not edible by one person but absolutely great for sharing with friends/family. The only thing that was dampening on the experience was the green tea. It's great how they give each person their own individual pot but the water in the pot was VERY lukewarm that the tea hardly infused. I really wanted to give this place a higher rating since the food looks and sounds amazing, but for just dessert and the ambience, this place was just ok. read more

Really love Le Pichet and hadn't been since I moved from Seattle so went last night while visiting. Still love it, but was really disappointed in the inattentive and unfriendly server and frustrated that since a 20% service charge was added I couldn't reflect that in my tip. read more

After eating here I am now giving a lot of consideration to living the rest of my days eating only baguette and butter.

Cool little French bistro, totally legit, and prime ingredients. Had their charcuterie and cheese boards and it was delish.

Excellent and friendly service. Reminiscent of a Paris cafe. Food is delicious. Don't miss the chocolate chaud!

This French bistro has some of the best and most consistent food in Seattle. It is undoubtedly your best option near the overcrowded and tourist laden market, which has lost its luster in the past decade. Crowded with local gourmands in the know, Le Pichet is a Gallic refuge in this part of the city, and will never let you down. The Oyster soup was smashing, and the terrine was wonderfully hearty. Bread was crusty and delicious. With an intelligent wine list, attractive servers with a French nonchalance, Le Pichet is a bit of 6th Arrondissement in Seattle. (Warning- Le Pichet can be crowded & uncomfortable, so if you have trouble walking, it may not be for you) read more

Le Pichet - steak frites were perfect. Really has the feel of a small left bank bistro. - French Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Had this spot bookmarked from an older episode of the late Anthony Bourdain's layover series. i finally, decided to mark it off my list. Apparently, he loved it because it reminded him of the casual french bistros that are so popular in France and of growing up there. I had almost forgot I had it book marked until the latest episode of TLC's "Sister Wives" aired (btw you're welcome for the free additional advertising!) where they decided to go on a getaway to Seattle and ended up dining here of all places. I then immediately remembered that I had been meaning to go..so here i am! It's a small casual bistro and although, the service is far from French, the food is pretty decent. I didn't get a chance to try the famous chicken for two but did try the Steak Frites (sorry but the French do it better) the onion soup which had a good flavor was unfortunately overshadowed by the enormous piece of toasted bread they laid over the top of it in a shallow plate, that ended up soaking up nearly all the soup and absorbing all the cheese in it. The charcuterie plate was a good value with eight chef selections. I decided to pair with a glass of recommended red cabernet from France which was ok but then again, I rarely drink alcohol so I wouldn't be the best judge anyway. But by far, i enjoyed the chocolat chaud the most as it reminded me of being in Paris and was made in house with a side of fresh whipped cream. Also the caramels they bring you with the check are delicious and made in house as well. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the croissants as they were already out and was told they run out around noon. Overall, the food was good, the service was decent but i do not agree with the 20% imposed gratuity that i am noticing lately from a lot of more pricier restaurants. First of all, it's tacky and says that i need to pay staff rather than the restaurant for healthcare and other costs that many of us who work in other hourly industries don't even receive from our employer for doing just as much (if not more) work and putting up with rude customers. It also states that only 15% goes to them and they "put away" the other 5% for some cost of paying workers future raises. Well what this is really called is not having to pay taxes because its seen as a "tip" or gratuity rather than "profit" which is shady because the restaurants should be responsible for covering workers raises and NOT the patrons. Some of whom most likely don't receive tips at their jobs while still making the same hourly wage. I believe in paying tips for good service (I worked as a waiter myself for several years) but of my own free will and i do expect every penny to go to that server not into the owners or managers pocket even if it's for future raises. While on this topic, why don't these chefs get any tips when their the ones ACTUALLY doing the work in far worst conditions sometimes? Rant aside, at least they give the option to remove the imposed gratuity if you feel it wasn't deserved based on the service you received. I would still highly recommend this quaint little bistro if you find yourself dreaming of Paris but can't quite afford the costs of traveling there. It's in downtown Seattle so be sure to either lyft there or make enough time to circle for parking. Do make reservations in advance, although, we were lucky enough to get same day ones by calling early and picking times before 6pm. DON'T skip out on "my precious" aka chocolat chaud for dessert and don't assume you wont get full because you'll be waiting a while in between courses. I guess this place will have to do..and do quite nicely it will, until my next trip to France! read more

When the website tells you to call to make a reservation, well, obviously you call to make a reservation, and then when you're told, no reservation needed on Sundays for lunch, we are never that busy on Sundays, of course as a trusting person you walk 25 minutes from your downtown hotel in the infamous Seattle weather with 2 kids to be told, it will be one hour wait at least... Well, you should walk right around the corner of Virginia st, make a left on Post Alley and walk your miserable wet a$$ to the pink door where service is always impeccable and where they accept walk ins when you're lucky, oh and by the way, when you call them, they accept your reservation. read more

Le Pichet is an elegant French bistro conveniently located just north of the Pike Place Market. The restaurant is small but inviting, and I was excited to give it a shot for dinner. I tried two appetizers: a green salad and braised pork meatballs. The salad was simple but elegant, and it came with a splendid dressing and perfectly toasted hazelnuts. The meatballs were less impressive. They basically consisted of a pork crab cake stuffed mostly with vegetables, and served with some pickled beets and an overpowering horseradish mustard. My main course consisted of the skirt steak, and it was excellent. The meat was cooked perfectly and surprisingly tender, and it was served with a mountain of French fries and dressed with a delicious mushroom cream sauce. I suppose this isn't the restaurant's fault, but I ordered a half pitcher of the least expensive red wine, and it was truly undrinkable. Imagine Yellow Tail mixed with vinegar. It ruined an otherwise great meal. I couldn't resist dessert, and went for a chocolate ganache, served with house-made whipped cream. This was amazing, and easily the highlight of the night. The prices at Le Pichet are surprisingly affordable, especially for downtown Seattle. Appetizers were around $10 and my steak was $23. The service, however, wasn't the best, though I suppose this is to be expected in an authentic French bistro! read more

On a Sunday, we were just tourists in our own town and just walked into this place. Didn't check reviews or anything, just like the good old times, remember those? As soon as you walk in, you feel like you step back in time, old bar, old building, and old school place. All in French, menus, posters etc. A tiny Paris in the middle of Seatown. The food was good, the people were nice, the experience was great. Go visit, get some pate, a glass of wine in a tiny glass. Try the mighty Onion soup, which is called something French there... Have some baguette, watch the people get wet in the rain outside... We loved it. I hope you do too. read more
