Oyster Rockefeller pasta, and a salmon dish with potatoes.

This is my first time going to a French cafe and let me tell you the food is worth the wait, and affordable as well. I came in around 7:00pm and saw that it was booked, while I was waiting the owner handed me a piece of paper asking me to watch the video which I did, and for a restaurant that has lasted for more then 44 years, either the lord blessed them or their food has to be out of the world. I was then seated by the owner as I peaked in the kitchen theirs only one person in there it's his wife, the way she cooked while I was waiting was just so elegant and lovely, it felt like she didn't have any worried and just cooked with every dish with love and her heart out. For appetizer I had the Chicken liver Pate, now normally in the Vietnamese culture it's usually served as pork and with baguettes, this chicken pate tasted so fresh and clean and just smooth, I was just tempting to pay just for the recipe for it. Next came a light French onion soup no bread, no cheese, just onions and broth and it tasted like whoever put cheese and bread basically hides or "enhances the flavor of the soup." This soup was so, good I cleaned the bowl out, lastly came out my entree a oyster Rockefeller pasta dish which is ravioli covered in oysters in a Rockefeller sauce, im a big fan of oysters and knowing it is sacrilegious I got pasta and at a French restaurant, let me tell you something when a French can cook a ravioli dish better then an Italian, theirs a reason why they been opened for almost 44 years, even if it's just two people the hospitality and atmosphere is just so smooth even seeing people going here on dates made me smile, I will be coming back until the two owners have a happy retirement

I knew as soon as I walked in that I would love this quirky little place. The decor is bohemian, the owners - a French couple - sweet and friendly. We had a great dinner - started out with the cheese appetizer, a simple and delicious pastry filled with gooey, messy cheese. My partner had the steak entree, I tried the salmon with creamy tarragon sauce - it was fantastic. We got two sides to share - sliced fried potatoes and sautéed asparagus. For dessert, the lemon pudding cake was a bit of a disappointment - I'd definitely try something else next time. I love the fact that they make up the menu daily based on fresh ingredients. We will definitely be back here next time we come to Bloomington!

This was a really great food experience. I'm half-French, from Provence, so I immediately was excited to try out this typical Provençal restaurant while in town for college visits. All of the food is homemade, and you can tell Marina (the owner) prepared it all with love. Her menu is created daily, which shows she's cooking using fresh ingredients that inspire her dishes. My stepdad and I enjoyed the cheese pastries, potato and carrot soup, chicken with mushroom sauce, salmon with a gribiche sauce, and sides of potatoes and broccoli with a bechamel sauce and parmesan. For desert, we had a mixed berry Clafoutis and a ricotta based italian chocolate cake. I highly recommend trying this little spot out! I will definitely be returning next time I'm in town.

    Dessert for brunch !

Nice place. First time going there. Had brunch on Sunday. $12 meal that was pretty darn good. The quiche was a tad dry but the Brie in croissant totally made up for it. Meats were well cooked and seasoned. Salad was standard American fare. (Meh) Good coffee. Would recommend and go again. Will update review with second experience at some point. Until then, yay.

This restaurant was fantastic. The prices were excellent for the quality and quantity of food. We were greeted very warmly by the owners and the server- everyone was very friendly. We ordered a bottle of wine, two appetizers, entrees and desserts. All of us were equally satisfied with what we ordered. The pâté was delicious (coming from someone who isn't a huge fan), the cheese pastries were one of the best appetizers I've ever had! (And I'm not being dramatic.) steaks were cooked perfectly and the ribs were super tender. To top it all off we had amazing desserts with what I assume was homemade whipped cream- amazing. Definitely coming back when we visit Bloomington again!

The best way to describe the picturesque compound is that it feels like the town of Spectre from the movie Big Fish. It is adorable and quaint. We had arrived in the early evening and quickly put our luggage into our adorable cottage so we could make our way down to the tavern. We enjoyed many drinks and some typical bar fare along with some conversations with the locals. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming and homey. That's the perfect description for this gem. The wait staff are excellent and the bar does not disappoint! Happy hour runs 3-6pm and I stopped in for a drink and a bite. The rotating cocktail menu featured a "Gin on the Barb." Local gin mixed with a rhubarb liqueur and mint was a tasty yet dangerous beverage for an 83 degree day. If you have a chance to try the Oeufs Mimosa (deviled eggs) do not miss the opportunity though the charcuterie is an experience as well. For dinner I suggest trying the beef bourguignon. It will change your life. It's not necessarily simple but it done very very well.

It's a very small kitchen where all the action happens, which is very impressive for a restaurant their size. Very knowledgeable staff and servers described all the ingredients and notes of flavor to look for in the dishes very well. Most ingredients were locally sourced and staff highlighted the importance of souring fresh local ingredients with every dish. Everyone form the hostess to the bartender and bus boy were friendly and welcoming. definitely 5* for service. The menu is a mix of several cuisines from Korean to Italian and even some French with a twist. The menu has great vegetarian options. Unfortunately the chef's tasting menu wasn't available as my reservation was made same day, but I decided to go with the two specials of the day. Dinner kicked off with a shot of Champaign on the house They like welcoming their guests that way. Water kept being refilled immediately. The staff again was very attentive. As an appetizer I went with the Scallops crudo with house made berry vinegar. The crudo was a healthy serving of scallops. Crispy raw carrots and radish provide some texture, while greens including endive provided some bitterness. This dish was a bit heavy on pepper and bitterness from the endives and could use some acidity to balance it out. Scallops were not as sweet as I was expecting. A bit more of the homemade raspberry vinagrette would have been perfect. The dark blue ring caused by the marination process would have shown more on a different color serving plate instead of a black bowl. For the main course I ordered the Beet linguini with sea bass. Interesting take on linguini Pickled rhubarb, rainbow radishes, fresh dill and a 'beet marinara' sauce reminded me of borscht. Unfortunately the linguini was overcooked and soaked up a lot of the butter and sauce. The pickled rhubarb provided a break from the heaviness of the dish but overall the dish lacked brightness. Sea bass was perfectly cooked. Seared and crusted with salt and pepper on one side, simple. Well executed but nothing special. For dessert I went with the Strawberry dacquoise which was delicious. The white chocolate bark with pink peppercorn stole the show. It should be layered inside the dessert! I wanted more of it. This dessert was not overly sweet. it was a great mix of pistachios and strawberry and fluffy cake. Gelee was a bit too dense but otherwise fantastic end to a good meal.
