What a delightful little gem! I've never even noticed this place. I guess it's part of the hotel next door (Galleria Park Hotel) but in no way does if feel like a hotel restaurant. It's a French bistro style, family run. The service is amazing, although it seems like the entire staff is doing multiple jobs lol. The chef sometimes brings the dishes to the tables. We sat at the bar and had wines and champagne and shared four amazing dishes. My favorite was the chicken liver mousse that was topped with a sweet jelly (beets? but sweeter) and it was the best liver mousse I've even had. We also had the onion tart, escargot (out of the shell) and sautéed mushrooms. I would order every one of these again. We had a pretty bad service experience here. Enough that I feel inclined to write a review (which is rare). There were two of us and the restaurant was about half full. Something must have happened with staffing because there was only 1 server/bartender and what I assume was a bus boy. It took about 20 min to get anyone to wait on us. We ordered everything at one. It came out. A steak frites which was pretty good and a sea bass which was decent. Not bad but nothing to rave about. Then back to the vacuum of no service. No one checked on us. We didn't even get a chance to order a 2nd drink before finishing our dinner. Then a quick check in to see if we wanted desert. It was clear if we didn't get the check immediately it would be another 30 min. Then the check arrived with 20% added gratuity for 2 people. To be clear I would have still tipped well because I don't stiff waiters because of staffing issues... but it was clearly added because the service was AWFUL. The server was even awkward about it. Maybe we got an off night, but I don't want anyone else making my mistake by being lured there by the fantastic reviews. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Le Parc Bistrobar is located in the Financial District inside a boutique hotel. Made a reservation and our table was ready upon arrival. Parking is available via the SFMTA St. Mary's garage a few blocks away. Dining is available indoors exclusively. The dining room seems high end. The chef came from Baume in Palo Alto which had 2 Michelin stars at one point... Pricing is elevated, even for SF standards. The restaurant may be catering towards tourists... Having been to numerous bistros in Paris, I had similar expectations! Unlike in Paris, the bread service isn't complimentary. The table next to me opted for bread and it looked tasty. There is a pre-order 4 course meal for $108. Started off with the onion tart which was tasty. Loved the onion and goat cheese over the pastry tart! Moved on to the steak frites and it was ok. Requested my steak medium rare and it came out towards medium. The char on the steak was great and it was nicely salted. Prime sirloin from the US doesn't quite match French beef in Paris! The shoe string fries were decent. I think the fries in Paris are even better! The signature oxtail dish was ok. There were two gigantic oxtails served with mashed potatos, carrots, and tasty red wind reduction. Most of the oxtails were tender although some pieces were starting to dry out. The creme brulee moderne was the highlight of the meal with the presentation along with the consistency that was closer to an ice cream than creme brulee! The chocolate cake with pistacchio ice cream was also decent. Service throughout the evening was cordial and attentive. When going over specials, I was slightly confused by the orange duck. I was imagining orange chicken from Panda Express with duck instead of chicken. Came here for a team dinner after work and had the whole place to ourselves. The restaurant itself is quite large with plenty of indoor seating both on the first floor and second. They were accommodating for our group of ~18. They had great mocktail options for me which I appreciated. We had multiple courses including a yummy salad and butternut or pumpkin bisque. The mains were also good but nothing to really write home about it. Think, food scene from When Harry Mets Sally where Sally is having a rather transformative experience at the restaurant and everyone sitting near her goes, "I'll have what she's having." That's how good this braised oxtail was. I had a glass of red. My friend had the Negroni (not my favorite) and the steak, it was good-- classic. Very nicely done fries! We also got the onion tart, fabulous, and the escargots, hit the spot, to start. We ended with the chocolate cake (more brownie like than cake) with pistachio ice cream (had a lot of almond extract.. not the best) and the floating island (solid, good, sweet)-- better of the two. Le Parc bistro is attached to a hotel. It really gives off old school classy vibes with dark wood walls and white cloth tables. The service is 5 stars excellent. The bartender even leaves the bar and talks to the customers making sure they like what they are drinking. The waitresses really try to connect with you and are super friendly. It's expensive but not overly expensive. The atmosphere does scream date night. And possibly fancy work outing. I expect this place to be busier than it is, the food quality and service is amazing. I think this is a newer place in the past year. My sole was excellent. It was so rich in flavor and juicy. Huge portion! My friend liked his salmon but I felt it was a little fishy. The salmon tartare app was very good as well and a decent sized portion. The desserts weren't overly sweet and they were a shareable size. Though my dessert said pistachio ice cream but it mostly tasted like raspberry and passion fruit. The drinks were excellent and very strong. It's $19 for a cocktail and they have an extensive cocktail menu. My favorite was studio 54 which is pistachio liquor and Midori. A shockingly-good "casual" follow-up from the chef at Baume (when it had two Michelin stars) and Chez TJ (also, two stars). This is French cooking at its finest, with snails that are soft (not the weird mushroom-like ones you get at most places), where the salmon tartare comes with a citrus foam, and where the fish is seared so perfectly (and coated in butter) that you'll remember it a day later - not just because you're lactose intolerant, but because it was so good. So why the four stars? Well... there's limited options, and dietary restrictions are NOT accommodated - that makes for a nightmare for a lot of diners. The restaurant is still picking up, and I suspect that maybe, just maybe, this could elevate itself and allow for more options. So let me start by saying I imagine raising my rating to 5 stars in the near future. As I understand, it was their first weekend, so this may explain a few "bumps" in our experience (no french fries, no steak, no latte or coffee - just espresso), which I am willing to write off to growing pains. Hubby, brother, and I went on Friday night. Started at the bar with some fantastic cocktails and a very friendly bartender (on the first floor). We then moved upstairs for dinner. Hubby and brother had "good" food, but I apparently was the lucky winner with my food (hence my focus). I started with escargot "pie" which was the most unique serving I've ever had. Freshly sautéed in butter and leeks, so it was light and fresh! Next, because I was going to order steak but found out it wasn't available, I switched to sole meunière which as the most fabulous sole I've ever had, anywhere. The bread service side was also fantastic and worth the extra cost. Came here for dinner with a very close friend. We were warmly greeted by the very attentive staff. This family-operated restaurant has a very warm ambiance, conducive to conversation and very fine dining. Christie, the host, made us feel very welcome and comfortable throughout the evening. She patiently reviewed the menu each time, without rushing us to a decision. For appetizers we had the Escargot, the Liver Mousse, and the French Onion Tart, all expertly prepared with renowned Chef Bruno's innovative take on these classics. Our entrees were the perfectly-prepared braised Oxtail signature dish, and the Sea Bass, the daily special also meticulously cooked to perfection. We finished our great dining experience with their delicious Chocolate Mousse and their Creme Brulee. Overall, this was a complete perfect dining experience! Overall a pretty good experience at this establishment. There are many french restaurants in sf, and this place is on the high-end side --- perhaps more of a "fine dining experience." The establishment is rather large; upon first walking in I thought it was small, but then realized that was just the bar area once we were directed upstairs for our reservation which was a much larger seated dining area. Again; fine dining ambiance - everything was orderly, clean, and well kept. The establishment was surprisingly rather empty for a Saturday night; no reservations needed. They have a large list of cocktails, I ordered the manhattan and it was good. While the cocktails might be slightly over pried, the wines by the glass are actually reasonably priced. As for the food -- the menu had fairly standard offerings you'd expect at a french restaurant. I ordered the steak frites and thought the steak was cook spot on. My partner ordered the mussels and they were also good. We both thought the fries were great, however we noticed they used A LOT of salt. While the dishes was on the pricier side given the caliber of the establishment, it actually didn't seem too bad. The only thing that gave me an "ick" about this place is that they include a 20% tip in the bill. I actually thought our server was great and the service in general was outstanding -- I would have naturally left 20% or more tip, however I just don't like when establishment do this. I can understand for large parties, but a mandatory tip for a table of 2? Overall, a good experience -- the food and drinks were good and the ambiance was nice. Perhaps this place won't go down as my favorite french restaurant in the city, but definitely worth checking out if you want a finer dining experience (and are thus willing to pay a premium price for said experience accordingly). read more

The food here was very tasty. It did have the "fancy French food" situation where you get less than you expect for the price, especially the appetizers, but at least it was very good. Nothing was outstanding, but it was all good. The biggest disappointment was that that they only take reservations through opentable, and require a credit card deposit. They never answered the phone when I tried to call (6 times, ranging from a while before they opened, to a few hours after opening), and never responded to my email (yes, I checked my spam folder), so we were forced to book through opentable, a company I don't support. Also, they don't have prices on their website, which made it more frustrating they wouldn't answer my calls or email, so I did roll the dice with booking them. I don't recall the price for every thing, but it was about 30-60$ for the mains, I believe. We had the tarte tatin, pumpkin soup, bread and butter, braised oxtail, assorted cheeses, and the dessert sampler. The service was overall decent. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Entree was Sole Meunière which I shared with my friend, the size of the entree was enough to share, great suggestion by our waiter. We added a side of broccolini at his suggestion, which was well executed, crunchy but tender. The proportions were perfect for us. Love it when wait staff is on their game. He also recommended a delicious French white varietal to pair that I'd never tried before, Picpoul from Languedoc region. The food is very good, the Sole was tender and the sauce complimented this delicate fish without overpowering it. I had a taste of my friend's yummy thin crispy French fries, I'm definitely going back for those. The atmosphere is cozy with comfy banquettes and a warm glow from the subtle lighting, so important for an evening experience. Server (who claimed she was the owner) knew nothing about the cocktail menu and when I suggested she consult with the bartender, she flatly stated "you don't need to have attitude ". My cocktail was the tiniest ever and cost $24.00. When we asked for a real server, she stated "No one is willing to serve you as you are difficult". Service was slow the entire time and my meal arrived cold (cold french fries are not the best). I did not bother sending it back knowing the ramifications. The check had 20% ($95+) service charge which explains, at least in part, why the owner did not withhold her nasty comments.
