I sat down at Papagayo after waiting at the host stand for staff to walk past and not acknowledge my presence. Once I walked up to the outdoor bar and asked if it was open seating I was told to have a seat anywhere. 10 minutes then go by and didn't served, asked for a beverage, nothing. I guess it really depends on who you are. The female server who is helping everybody else around me, greets a gentleman that sat down literally 2 minutes, and she comes up to him and asked what he wants to drink. I wasn't presented a menu. Quite simply a fantastic find along 101 . If you're going to Legoland take the short trek 10 to 15 to this venue for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For breakfast I tried the chillaquilles and the macademia nut pancakes. I would come to this venue for each of these dishes as standalone dishes but they carry both of them??? What an utter disappoint this place was. Tons of drunk people making asses out of themselves, the place was a shitshow. On the food, it was not that good. I had the crab enchilada. It was just OK. the crab at least seems fresh from a few days ago or even possibly canned. After several bites it just sort of became blah. Boring. It made me think why the hell did I get this for $21. The rest of our food was not that good Mahi tacos, some weak ass kids meal and a ok salad. All I can say is the server was decent. My guest and I checked in at my reservation time and was promptly seated on their outdoor street dining area. Ambiance: they had a nice walled off area for sitting in the street with lots of heaters. And live music was really nice until they started playing blues. I don't hate the blues, I just want some liveliness to my Friday night. Food: wish I could say I got to eat but read on... Service: At no point did anyone come by and introduce themselves as our waiter. At no point was I even offered water or asked if I wanted anything to drink. Close to 25 mins went by and no one acknowledged us. The only acknowledgment I received was letting the person who I immediately saw when I walked back into the establishment and told them that I had been waiting and that my guest and I were leaving in disappointment. While he apologized, he seemed more distracted by knowing which table I was at. All he did was offer a reservation for the next night. Highly recommend arriving with reservations made day's or weeks in advance, which is what we did for mother's day. Service: Upon entry we were greeted and did not have to wait long to be seated. Would have preferred indoors vs in the covered outdoors, but it was what it was - no biggie. Food: I opted for the Wagyu beef burger. To my surprise this portion size of the burger and side of fries was not exaggerated like some other restaurants serve, thankfully. The burger was good, a little sloppy, but still good. I could have done without the bacon added. My husband order the prime rib which was huge in my opinion. Per my husband the meat was dry and possibly wouldn't consider it again but would try something else in the future. My eldest went wit the roasted Hawaiian Kalua pork and while the portion served is more than she eats - it was good. My two youngest went to the kid's hamburger and lobster ravioli and enjoyed their meals respectively. Here are the highlights: - The crab cakes were amazing. They were 95% crab meat, with the bare minimum amount of filler. The outside was perfectly pan-fried, while the inside was falling-apart tender. While the dish comes with some mustard, the crab cakes were already well-seasoned inside. It also came with fried green tomatoes, potatoes, and broccolini. - The COCONUT SHRIMP were also fantastic. One order contains 5 jumbo shrimps. Although I couldn't really taste the coconut, there was a slight sweetness, and the flakes were super crunchy. - The paella wasn't as good. The rice was under-seasoned and slightly mushy. The seafood and sausage were yummy. - The THAI PEANUT SAUCE MUSSELS were super plump and fresh. Papagayo was busy when we showed up Sunday about 12:20pm. we waited about 20minutes. I noticed the staff was very gracious and accommodating to all the people wanting a table. They didn't look harried or frenzy dealing with the public. we were a group of 3 adults and 3 children under 10 years old. Staff, manager and all the employees who worked to get us a table, took and served our lunch order, and took our empty dishes away, were very friendly and accommodating.
