Ordered a custom cake for a kid's 10th birthday and the process was simple enough. I called the business and they said to email what I needed to a specific email address. I included the size I needed and the inspiration (Ninjago). Within a few hours, the bakery got back to me and confirmed my order and actually suggested a smaller cake for the # of people I needed. I appreciated that. We went with a simple vanilla inside along with vanilla frosting. The design turned out amazing!! I didn't get to try the cake (since I wasn't in town for the party), but everyone said it was moist and wasn't too sweet. Yay! The cake was on the pricey side. The 9inch Ninjago was $165. I wouldn't get this type of cake for every birthday, but for a special bday it was worth it.
Pros: Asian cakes in the style my mother prefers Cons: they try their best with customer service, but it's chaos here
I keep coming back here to order custom cakes. I trust the design of the cake to come out just like I envisioned it to be. I learned to just email them to submit a order (include images for references and what flavor I want). They will respond with what they recommend and finalize the order. Super smooth and easy process. Certain flavors are better than others but it's personal preferences. Prices are definitely reasonable for what you get.
I really enjoy the rich French buttercream flavor from this Vietnamese bakery. The sweetness is just right and not overwhelming. My family has purchased cakes here for all sorts of occasions (see pics) and the quality is excellent. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the cupcakes. The pearl stuffed florals are held in place by PINS. We have lots of kiddos who could have easily been injured had I not discovered the numerous pins in the cupcakes or worse. Not a safe measure but overall, exercise caution and stick to larger cakes and you'll have no problem at all.
I literally chose the first bakeshop I found to make my son's 3rd birthday cake. I chose this one because the photos proved that they could execute nice character cakes and I got so lucky! My cake turned out even better than the reference photo I showed them and it tasted amazing. Thank you for making this beautiful cake.
My mom's birthday and parents' anniversary were coming up. I always have a hard time on deciding where to get cake or dessert. I weighed my options on getting them a cake from one place to another. My sister pinched the idea of getting a cake from here. I know my parents love pandan, so that kind of sold me. This place DID NOT disappoint! Not only the cake was cheaper than what I shopped for, but the designed was perfect and what I was looking for to satify my parents. Simple pandan cake, top designed with fruits and not too much chocolate w/ almond crumbs. Service was great, I was suppose to pick up the cake by 5pm. I was running late and gave them a called and let them know I will be run an hour late. Place closes at 7pm so it was not a problem. So happy that my parents were pleased, will be a returning customer for more cakes and desserts.
Our favorite place to buy cakes for about 15 years now! They customize cakes for any special occasion and they also sell mini cakes for you to snack on too! Most of us in our family prefer the mocha cake and we rarely get the chocolate kind, but in the snack size for sure that is. I've also tried some of their mini cakes too and some of them are great too! Will still be ordering cakes from here soon! :)
Their cakes are simply divine! Very light and moist, the cakes come in all different flavors. Our favorites so far are the fruits and almond cakes. I've always ordered them for my kids' birthdays and get compliments. I've emailed the store and sent them pictures with my specifications and the results have always been fabulous. We end up happily eating the leftovers over the week. Would highly recommend!
Cakes 10/10 Macaroons 9/10 Truffles 7/10 The pandan cake here is BOMB. super juicy and flavorful and not over the top sweet. Macaroons are also very very good, with the exception of two out of the 10 I got they were hard so I'm assuming they were old :/ but I'll definitely be back for my own cake order in the future and more macaroons. My friend tried the raspberry mouse cake and said it was delicious so I think it's safe to assume cakes are their absolute speciality.
I am so elated that I went with my first choice of bakery's, which was LeDuc Bakery, from start to finish! I was thrilled when I first laid eyes on my special ordered Chanel birthday cake. They made my cake way beyond my expectations it is by far without a doubt THE MOST BEAUTIFUL cake I have ever seen!!!!!!! Every detail was immaculate, from the edible purse that looked like a real Chanel purse with its detailed clip, which glistened, to the edible roses & pearls. I was astonished on how beautiful and absolutely perfect my cake was. Thank you VERY much for my cake, it was certainly the highlight of my celebration! I can't thank you all enough, I will never go anywhere else!!!!! I'm going on there very soon to hug the baker/chef
Tried and it was okay. No one was in the bakery when I stopped by this morning. Area was clean and the employee was quick to answer all my questions. Prices are fair but desserts, in my opinion, looked better than they tasted. Flavor was fine but nothing out of the ordinary. Layers are not as defined as they look from afar, and the texture is way too heavy on the gelatin. Not a bad bakery but will keep looking around.
Best Custom Cake in Houston in my opinion. I have been using them for years and for multiple, various occasions and they really do not disappoint. I have recommended them to everyone when it comes to custom cakes and designs. A bonus? The cake is really, really good. The pricing is also great, reasonable , and suprisingly affordable. I usually place my order a week advance and I go in person with pictures ready to show. Usually Monica takes my orders and knows what to ask about what you desire in and on your cake. So make sure you know: - How many are your serving? (I recommend the number of guests and subtract 10, which has worked with me to minimize excessive leftovers) - Flavor(s) - if you do multiple tiers, you can have different flavors - Shape (square, circle, combo) - Design (have photos! I use instagram and google) - Fondant, buttercream, or naked cake My go to is the red velvet and pandan cake (without the coconut). I have also ordered their mocha coffee cake, which is my dads favorite. The cakes are definitely not overbearing or super sweet. Just perfectly baked with equal blend of flavors. Le Duc also has delicious small baked goods such as macaroons, mini cakes, mousse cups, various dessert cups, cannoli, and etc. For purchase so you don't have to walk out with a whole cake everytime, but hey if you do... i won't judge. The service is also very good and the ladies are very nice. They have always been patient and honest. If there is a design they can't do, they will let you know. Gotta be realistic you know?! So i appreciate the honestly to prevent any disappointments. They always check with the chef as well to confirm your requests if it is do-able. If there is any error or mistakes, they address it right away and reasonably. I don't demand much however, they have always exceed my expectations with each cake I've specially ordered. Thank you for the many cakes that really steal the spotlight at each gathering!

I needed a custom cake very last minute and was honestly stressed trying to find a place that could pull it off in time. Le Duc Gourmet Bakery was the first bakery I walked into, and I'm so glad I did. The owner was incredibly sweet and took our order without hesitation. Not only did they get it done in time, but the cake turned out perfect. The design was exactly what I pictured clean, colorful, and super fun. We went with red velvet and cream cheese filling, and the outer layer was buttercream, which was a big plus. It tasted just as good as it looked. When we finally cut into it, I actually felt bad because it was so pretty!! Everyone was amazed by how good and cool it was. Definitely coming back here for future events. read more

Love love loved my cake for my baby shower!! Not only does the outside of the cake look beautiful but the cake it self is moist and the icing was not too sweet just how I like it! Couldn't be more happier. Will definitely be ordering more cakes from here! read more

And everyone was impressed that it was buttercream and the chocolate cake just melted in your mouth! So not only was it pretty to look atI will definitely be ordering more birthday cakes from here in the future! Also the macaroons are delicious! Just got a second cake done, this time for my son. It was Marble with chocolate mousse-delicious! read more

Le Duc is solid! It's my third time ordering a cake from them and they do a wonderful job with custom orders. This time we went for pandan coconut which is a very popular flavor. Everyone loved it! It's not super sweet- it's perfectly balanced. The pandan cake is a green color and has a light hint of vanilla taste. The coconut was a perfect touch. They do a fantastic job decorating cakes. I sent a photo and they were able to replicate it perfectly. I asked the writing be printed and am so happy with how it turned out. I look forward to ordering from them again! read more
I really like this bakery because their turn around time is amazing. I called mid day Thursday and they were able to make the cake by Saturday afternoon. They are very responsive and helpful. I chose tiramisu flavor, it didn't taste much like tiramisu but it was still delicious and everyone loved it. read more
This place still taste the same after all these years. It reminds me of my childhood cakes. The green Pandan with coconut is exactly what my mom made when we were kids. My most favorite is mocha rum! Mocha rum has toasted almonds on the side. Yummy! The cake is moist and coffee/rum flavor. I like to eat when it cold or even frozen. It's a Genoise cake layered with coffee flavored buttercream frosting. They drizzle the cake with a simple sugar. If you need a cake the day of the event, they always have mocha rum cake and Pandan cake available immediately. If you want other specialty cakes or specific designs or decorations, sometimes it's 3-7 days advanced order. I never order, I walk in and buy an 8 inch mocha rum cake with flowers on top. You can opt for fresh fruits to be places on top of the cake. If you are unsure what you would like, you can purchase personal size cakes to try. Give this local shop a try and you won't regret it! read more

My cake came out beautiful and delicious. They kept in contact with me every step of the way and they are well known for the traditional Vietnamese pandan and the mocha rum cake flavors. This is my only go to cake place from now on. read more
This place honestly isn't that bad. Sure, it's incomparable to real French bakeries, but those are out of the league when you're talking about Vietnamese bakeries. I came here a few years back, but I don't remember much of it so I can't say anything. However, I ordered the same thing this year and a few years ago- a Christmas mocha-flavored bûche de noël ... or log cake. I distinctively remember the wonderful taste it had in my mouth when i ate it back then. It wasn't too sweet. No- it was BARELY sweet. I mean, if you're a typical American who enjoys the cakes they have up in Kroger or HEB, I'd say this cake is perhaps 1.5x less sweet. I enjoy it, though. It allows me to eat more of it without getting sick (For some reason, I can't eat a lot of sweet stuff.) Anyways though, onto the review, hahah. I ordered the cake (they have this cake only during the Christmas times... and you have to pre-order it. You can choose between chocolate and coffee, 10 inch and 12 inch..?) And I believe it costed me $21. I think the 12 inch is $25. There were many people ordering the same cake when I was there. The cake itself had a strange rum-like smell to it. I didn't taste any rum, of course (not that I ever tried it before). There were pretty Christmas-related decorations around it and the outer icing was just beautiful. I couldnmt finish the entire cake even after two weeks or so, so I had to throw it away. I do plan on buying one next year (unless I decide on a marble slab ice cream cake..... yum). A few weeks later, I actually bought some macarons. They weren't too bad. I thought that the green apple flavor tasted pretty artificial, though. I wasn't a fan of the mango one, either. It's not Ladurée, obviously, so I can't really say much of it. It tasted prettt good, and I enjoyed it (because I felt like I was eating a truck load of money... Seriously, who pays over $1 for these tiny cookies? The fact that they're $2.50 in New York makes it worse....) Overall, I give it a 4 stars because I do believe that the icing could be a taaaad bit sweeter and perhaps the flavors of the macarons could be changed a bit. read more

I have been coming here for years and their cakes and little pastries are delicious! I bought an 8-inch for my mom's birthday with strawberry mousse flavor and fruit on top. I love that their cakes are never too sweet, which is good because I feel like I can eat more of it! I also love getting pate chaud here for only $1. I always get like 10 and some little pastries. read more
So far Le Duc is my favorite place to order cakes. My BFF / daughter God-Mother always order a cake for my daughter birthday. When my daughter turned 1 years old, her god-mother had Le Duc make a Fondant Minnie Mouse - Pandan cake. When my daughter turned 2 years old, her god-mother got her a Rosette - Pandan cake. I soooooo love the Pandan flavor. Both times the cake was very moist and the flavor was awesome. Everyone at my daughter birthday party loves the cake. I refer all my friends to get their cakes at Le Duc. read more

My house mate's birthday was coming up so I asked him what kind of cake he wanted; he told me that he tried the pandan coconut cake here and loved it so I decided to get him the same cake. I called the bakery a week before the day I wanted to pick up the cake, I told them the time I would be there to pick it up, they told me the price ($26 for a small cake with decorations and writing) and that was it. Pretty short, sweet and to the point. I arrived at the exact time I said I would be there to pick up the cake and lo and behold, there it was all ready to go! I'm really glad that everything was so simple, the cake was ready when I wanted it, and the cake was beautiful. The following morning was my house mate's birthday. We cut and ate the cake and let me tell you, THIS CAKE WAS AMAZING. It had the lightest sweetness, the airiest cream, coconut shavings and a beautiful pandan flavor. Normally, I can only stomach half a slice of cake before I can't take anymore; but, I found myself going back for seconds until the cake was gone! Since having this cake, I've decided that it would also be my birthday cake except this time I'll get a bigger size, haha! Thank you to the ladies at le duc for such a delicious birthday cake! Can't wait to buy another one~ read more

I used them for my sister's wedding cake. They did an amazing job. They responded quickly to each of my emails and the communication with them was very prompt and professional. I honestly wasn't give much info from the bride on how she wanted it, which I know had to make it hard for them. Luckily though the cake style we wanted was very simple. They accommodated us and allowed us to bring our own fresh roses and the way they had the flowers bloom and placed was AMAZING. The cake was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. They sent me a sample picture to show me what my cake would look like, and a detailed invoice to verify my order and request. They delivered the cake and the person handling it was extremely sweet and waited with us. Until the reception area was opened for us. The cake was amazing too! It was moist and the flavor wasn't overpowering at all and the icing didn't over powering and wasn't layered in there thickly. They are seriously great to work with and we do normally get our holiday cakes from them but this was our first time ordering a wedding cake. read more

We booked Le Duc for our wedding cake. It turned out so beautiful! Our cake was tiramisu and pandan (without the coconut) flavored. Our guests were mainly Filipino and Vietnamese and they liked that the cake wasn't too sweet. The pricing is much cheaper than other wedding cake vendors, but the cake still tasted great and looked beautifully made. It was delivered on time in perfect condition. The only complaint is that they're kind of hard to contact because mostly everything was done through email. Also they have a complimentary cake tasting, but it wasn't formal. Other than that, Duc was very nice and very accommodating. read more
