I was very disappointed in this restaurant.
I went there for a late lunch and left hungrier then when I'd arrived. The food was very unfortunately completely inedible.
I ordered a linguine from the specials, but after waiting over 1/2 hour, the waiter came out and told me they had run out. Interestingly enough, over an hour later, I overheard him still taking orders for the linguine...
I asked the waiter to recommend an alternative, and he suggested the l'entrecote (steak), raving about how perfectly the chef cooked it at his restaurant. Ok. What was served, however, was definitely not steak. It was a very large piece of gristle. The entire cut of "meat" was made up almost exclusively of gristle and nothing else.
To say it was disgusting is an understatement. It was wholly inedible.
Unfortunately, to make matters worse, the waiter refused to do anything about it, immediately claiming that this "American" does not understand fine dining and that the dish was perfect by French standards. I'm Canadian, by the way, and happen to have lived in Paris for several years now, am fluent in french, and have literally NEVER seen such a disgusting piece of discarded left-overs served in any restaurant in the city.
I ended up paying almost double the cost of the linguine I had originally requested (which, surprisingly, was being served to tables all around long, even those who ordered after we did - although they did all seem to be seated by native French. Maybe that was the problem - anyone who seems like a foreigner doesn't get to order what they want and is served the most expensive menu item instead...). The restaurant did not care one bit about what they had done. I live 2 blocks away and was looking forward to a new "neighborhood" local favorite, but I won't back. read more
