After a little bit of searching I found this place right near the metro station with decent reviews so decided to make our way over here. We literally walked right past the joint because it is a hole in the wall for sure. I had to walk back and forth 2 times to find it. It has a few spots outside and a few spots inside with a nice long bar. The bartenders were super friendly and it definitely felt very Parisian. The server was very friendly and the food selection for lunch was good. After a bit of searching, we decided to go with the special foie gras sandwich, an onion soup , and the burger of the day with of course everything topped off with a bottle of vino. The onion soup came out first which was solid and although I was a bit worried it would be too cheesy upon first glance, it was prepared well and solid. The foie gras sandwich came out next which was essentially a triple layer of foie gras in a sandwich with a salad and fries on the side. It was solid as well and they had jam on in the inside which paired the foie well. The burger came out with a sunnyside egg and cheese melted with a delicious burger patty. It was perfect after a long walk around the area and the vibe was fun with many Parisians sitting and drinking wine while discussing life. All in all, a solid place, and definitely would be back. I feel their bar vibe would be fun at night especially given its close proximity to moulin rouge and could be worth checking out.

She was the stereotypical nasty waitress and the perfect example of poor service can destroy a great meal/ experience. She was inattentive and downright surly, throwing the plates on the table with what can only be described as a sneer. As the owner of a NYC restaurant for over 30 years my advice would be to find servers that understand hospitality.

Apparently one of four restaurants around Paris, LCDT is fairly small and crowded at lunch, but well worth a visit for a pleasant meal with some lovely wines and good service (one of the waiters had passable English). There are also seats at the wine bar. The list is short (bottles and by the glass) but with wines you'll have fun exploring. I enjoyed the seared tuna (thon poêlé) for 25 euros, and we had a lovely glass 2016 Claudie Jobard Rully Montagne La Folie from the Côte Chalonnaise (10 euros for a typical Paris pour). Also a fantastic bowl of parsnip soup, which could have been a meal in itself (10 euros). If this was in Boston, people would be lining up. Definitely get a serving of the frites for the table!

Of course Chef Etchebest's deserved reputation is sufficient by itself. We called for reservations because we couldn't do it online. English was not a problem. There are 6 Cantines. This is the one on Rue Cherche Midi. 2 of the 4 of us had just arrived so it was an early dinner, and quite a good one. We started with Foie Gras, a wonderful leek dish, and my wife ordered razor clams (which rated A+). Plats: 2 of us ordered a lovely, simple, beautifully prepared veal dish. 1 of us had a well prepared cod dish, and my wife had amazing pork cheeks with pui lentels. We had 3 veggie sides, served family style: mashed potatoes, Ratatouille, and Salade Verte...all excellent. Desserts: we split Ile Flottante (floating island) and Pomme Crumble. Both wonderful, but the former was particularly so. The service was attentive, professional, and friendly, but not intrusive, and this was one of the memorable meals we've had in Paris. We're not talking about haute cuisine here. But you'd be hard pressed to find a better bistro experience, and we'd definitely return!

The escargot was the best we have tried during our trip, and the Foi Gras over the soft baked eggs was an amazing combination and prepared just right with the level of consistency. For dinner, I chose one of the rotating daily specials, the red mullet served over mashed potatoes, along with pieces of zucchini, carrot, and tomato. We also had the beef grilled rump steak with a poivre (black pepper) bearnaise sauce. The rump steak, a tougher cut of meat, was cooked nicely, and while the sauce was absolutely delicious (especially with bread), the green beans on the side were limp/overcooked, and the thick-cut fries though crispy were served cold.
