The service is great! Our server was Molly and she was an absolute sweetheart. I commented on how a wine was too sweet for me and even tho I had already ordered she brought out some other wines for me to try before sticking to one. She was so attentive! The food was ooookayyyy. I have had the rotisserie chicken at one time and it was undercooked in certain parts and chewy/overburnt in others. Basically inedible. The cassoulet was ok. Onion soup? Would say its decent. Ever since Dario's closed Le Bouillon has been my favorite French spot. Attended their 10th anniversary for a Beaujolais tasting that included 24 different options as well as a small selection of menu items from the kitchen. There were 3 presentations as well to learn more about Beaujolais wines. This was quite the fun event for me as I'm trying to expand my wine knowledge. We made reservations at Le Bouillon to celebrate some small accomplishments at work and try a new restaurant. We were beyond happy with our choice. Le Bouillon is located in the Old Market, in a renovated fruit warehouse. The restaurant has kept so many original architectural and operational items, like the large fruit scale, floor tiles, and exposed brick. If your dining party is looking for something that is architecturally interesting with modern art and sculptures, the ambiance at Le Bouillon will deliver. After choosing a bottle of wine in the restaurant's attached wine cellar, we ordered the smoked trout canapé to start. It was smooth, salty, and smoky. Plenty to share between two. We followed up our main course with the duck frites and a special, monkfish Wellington. The duck was perfectly cooked, the frites gorgeously crispy and salty, and a peppercorn sauce tied the entire dish together. The monkfish wellington was a nice change from the traditional beef, well balanced with delicious vegetables on the side. I didn't get photos of dessert, but it was exceptional. The basque cheesecake was the clear winner, but the pot de creme is a must for any chocolate lover. Overall, we loved our experience at Le Bouillon and it is easily one of our top three date night picks. read more

My friend and I stopped in for Breakfast one Saturday morning after the Farmer's Market. We requested a window table, and were seated in a cozy nook at the front of the restaurant. We ordered tea, coffee and a selection of pastries to begin with. I believe my tea cup had even been warmed up so as not to cool down the tea, and the lemon wedges were served in their own little cordial glass. The cups and saucers were all beautiful, and adorably mis-matched. The pastries were all delicious and baked in-house. I ordered the French Omelette with goat cheese and dressed greens, and my bff had the German pancake. My omelet was delicious, buttery and goat cheesy and herb-y, nothing bland or "better for you" about it. The German pancake though, my goodness. Our waiter had already told us it would be life changing, but we were not prepared at all. This pancake. I still have inappropriate thoughts about it. Such a rich, indulgent experience. Served in a cast-iron pan, this thing was sheer brekkie perfection; eggs, flour, milk, butter, sugar and magic. I almost hesitate to tell you about it, because I could keep it as my luxurious, fattening little secret. But really, delights like these need to be shared. I was so so sad when the French Cafe (especially the dramatic, mysterious bar area) closed/changed but in the end, what has replaced is lovely. I have enjoyed myself at Le Bouillon every time I've come. It's an airy, relaxed but sexy place to have a good cocktail and some fresh delicious oysters in the Midwest... I've had a few interesting and yummy fusion meals here as well. A playful mix of Asian and French cuisine always pair well in my book...flavors reminiscent of the old and splendid Chez Chong of Omaha many years ago. We had a little family reunion brunch here yesterday. I met with my cousins, brother, and grandma here to celebrate our French heritage in a very nice atmosphere downtown. One of my cousins made reservations and we had a nice large table waiting for us when we arrived. I ordered iced tea and it came with its own carafe so I didn't have to depend on refills - nice! The chef sent out assorted pastries for the table, and we ordered pomme frites for the table as well which were hot and delicious. For my meal, I got the three egg omelette, which was more like a layered egg crepe with chives mixed in the egg and goat cheese in the middle (chevre for my Frenchies). It also came with a salad on the side. I added the seared foie gras to my omelette because 1) we only live once and 2) I don't see that on many menus where I live. It was so delicious and rich. I ate everything on my plate. Everyone seemed happy with their meals (my brother got the burger which is lamb-pork-beef mix, my grandma got the Austrian pancake, several cousins got steak and eggs which came with a potato waffle). Fantastic, creative French bistro food. I've eaten here a few times now and continue to be impressed. Brunch is great on the weekends with patio dining. Service is just outstanding, with all of the wait staff knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. Last night, David walked me through all of his favorite dishes, made me a perfect Old Fashioned, and helped me pick out wine. Instead of being boring and going with a bordeaux, I had a unique and funky cargignan, bursting with blueberries, bacon, and barnyard. Plus it was way cheaper than I expected. One of the best parts of the restaurant is that the "wine list" is actually the wine shop, which means that you get retail prices (with a modest corkage) and the pleasure of selecting your own bottle. I love the little canapes on the menu. This time I had the mushroom and escargots, slightly salty (even for me) though rich and delicious. Then I had the frog legs, which were tender and juicy and super tasty, though the kohlrabi slaw was the star of that dish. I finished off with the duck frites, again, perfectly cooked. Yum! We were visiting from Out of Town, and my ignorance about Omaha is I want steak, Omaha steak. There was some local Nebraska Waguy steak on the menu - and I was sold. I didn't even know that Japanese Waguy could be raised in Nebraska! I guess Trump hasn't stopped the immigration of cows yet! So this is also a raw bar and I can not speak to that. I'm also from Boston and San Francisco - I get antsy on eating Oysters in a land-lock state, so I say stick to the local meat offers. But if you are dying for oysters, this is a beautiful and upscale place to do it. They have daily Happy Hour raw bar offerings for $1 from 3:30pm-7pm. You can barely get those prices back in Boston! We had a great planned Sunday Brunch here. Prefaced with a Saturday evening of planning a group for Sunday brunch we decided on Le Bouillon. Online reservations were not working so we winged in. This was my first visit here. Service was top notch and exactly what you would expect! The pastry basket was Faboo!! a great start to a Sunday brunch with some coffee. Coffee was luke warm to start but refills were hot They need to update their online menu as it did not match what was being served and some of our party were excited and looking forward to dishes that they did not have. The steak and eggs was a great dish, A wonderfully flavorful Skirt Steak. With both Rare to Well done portions of steak spread across a really good waffle. The eggs were served over the steak which then ended up overcooking the eggs by the time they were served and lost the runny yolk. From looking at other photos here I notice that they were placed differently?? I like the place. The restaurant space is awesome and I enjoyed the family style dinning area that we were seated in. My favorites were the bikini sandwich and charcoaled cauliflower. The staff was very friendly and the chef came and talked to us which I enjoyed. The French fries were good and so were the Spanish tartini. The only thing I did not like was their seasonal punch. It was much too bitter. I also enjoyed their oysters. My first experience with them made me weary but the flavor and sauce here is excellent . The fact that they came from Washington doesn't surprise me because of how fresh they tasted. They serve to specific taste here but you can find something for anyone. read more

Expensive and underwhelming. I took my boyfriend on an early valentines day date and we got oysters that had a lot of sand in them, the french onion soup howevwe was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the duck frites which was literally duck and fries and i just think there could have been some type of sauce or something tying the meal together. I got the chicken and crepes and it was actually really good and I liked the sauce a lot. Not good. How this place averages four stars with 170+ reviews is beyond me. As I always say before a review of a French restaurant, "I love French food", but I did not even like Le Bouillon. We came with a party of 12 from a conference at UNO as well as 2 last minute add-ons, but staff refused to add an extra table at first, making us squeeze into four small tables pushed together with just two small baskets of bread for 14 very cramped people. They told us that they were "fully booked", but less than half the tables were occupied all evening and a glass walled room with two giant tables sat empty next to the entrance. They finally got a clue and brought an extra table jusr before the first course arrived. The server asked immediately what we wanted to drink, but there was just one, very extensive (at least 20 pages of small print - hundreds of options), wine/drink list for 14 people on the table. There were only a couple of wine options offered by the glass starting in the $9-$10 range and most bottles were well over $100 a pop with several approaching $1000. Feeling perplexed by the poor start, we stuck with water. The server then dropped a rather heavy butter knife on my arm as she was setting the table for the first course. Things were spiraling downhill fast. They had no moules (mussels) or escargots (snails), focusing their menu on the Raw Bar instead (no thanks - I do not eat un/undercooked animal flesh), so we passed on appetizers. Beside a couple of $9-$13 soups and salads, everything had meat/fish (my wife prefers to eat vegetarian whenever possible), so the only options to her liking were the Le Bouillon Burger ($14) and the Croques Monsieur ($16). The only things that peaked my interest were the Wagyu Hangar Steak ($26) and the Cassoulet ($21), so she went with the croques monsieur and I the cassoulet. Hers came with a bit of salad and mine with nothing, so we both, unfortunately, ordered a side of Frites (fries) with Aioli ($6). The croques monsieur had two huge, thick slices of egg battered toast, but barely a hint of ham and cheese. It was so salty that my wife could barely finish half. My cassoulet came out with the top burnt, so I mixed it up only to find mostly white beans and a couple of small pieces of ham and bacon. There were no noticeable "garlic sausage" or "duck" as advertized on the menu and it was also very salty, so I gave up after trying to eat half of my $21 white bean casserole. The fries looked very nice, but were very thin and crispy (almost burnt), hard to eat with fork or fingers, and EXTREMELY SALTY. All other attendees had similar complaints of salty food and fries. When they cleared the table, nobody wondered why so much food remained on all of our plates, so I mentioned to the server how salty the food was, especially the fries, so they removed them (just the fries) from the checks. At $42+ for water, half of a salty sandwich, and half a bowl of salty bean soup (minus the soup), this was one of the poorest values in recent memory.
