I had the sea bass. My husband had the veal. They were both very good and the server was very attentive. Very nice man. He made our night! Had a great meal for a decent price. I have been there twice. The first time was a good experience with the server being helpful and respectful. The fish was okay but not exceptional. I was the only one in the restaurant. The second time was an awful experience-a different younger man. Again I was the only one in the restaurant. The server was rude, the service slow, and there was loud rap like music playing. The food again was mediocre. I had to go find the server for the check, he was on the phone and did not have the decency or professionalism to stop talking long enough to take care of the check. He began yelling at me saying he was the only one there-BUT I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER. My husband and I spent the evening walking around Florence when we decided to stop here for dinner. As it was our first night in Italy, and this was our first meal, both my husband and I were kind of nervous about how to order at a restaurant in a new country. If there was an English menu, we weren't given one, but that's okay because we also weren't really expecting one. (It wasn't until later in the trip that we realized a lot of places actually do have menu's in English). The waiter came off abrupt and somewhat annoyed that it was taking us a few extra minutes to look over the menu before ordering. Again, not a big deal, but just not very welcoming. We ended up trying a pasta dish, along with another entrée that consisted of pork, potatoes and spinach. The pasta was good, but nothing to write home about - seemed a little bland. The pork also tasted fine, but was kind of bland as well. The highlight of the meal was the mashed potatoes and spinach. Both were delicious! The potatoes were creamy and the spinach had excellent seasoning. The atmosphere is very comfortable. It's cozy inside, and plenty of tables. A big downside for us was the price. For 2 entrees, and one glass of wine it was approx. 45 euro - which seemed a bit steep. Bottom line - this restaurant is okay. I think there are other places in the area that would offer a more authentic cuisine and experience. read more

Located a few minutes into the maze of Firenze, near the Ponte Vecchio. Being that it is a little close to a historical site, the prices are slightly higher, but not as inflated as restaurants right around the corner from the Pantheon, as in example (the ones where the hosts are standing outside luring every single tourist in). The first thing you'll notice is how lavish and rich this establishment's design is. Deep burgundy walls, marble columns, dried meats hanging from above the front register, a fountain downstairs, a private wine room, plenty of tables, a diamond chandelier, and of course, all atmospheric with candle lighting. The waiters do speak enough English, or will adapt to a fellow Latin language. The service was very kind and attentive to what you need. And don't forget that Europe actually pays their waiters and waitresses like an authentic occupation, so you don't need to leave a tip. For cuisine, we start with some complimentary freshly baked bread, which pairs extremely well with their olive oil. The minestrone soup ordered was certainly filled with fresh vegetables and thick broth, but very lacking in meat. The main courses were very good. It was the best carbonara I have had in Italy so far, albeit I have many yet to taste before official final verdicts. The mass was rich in flavor, very creamy, plentiful in Italian bacon (fried ham), and the olive oil adds so much more flavor. I do wish that the serving size was a bit more. The penne was also terrific, with just enough sauce, and sweet mass. The pasta in general around the table was the best I've had so far, and I wish the portion was larger. The pizza had some very good crust and dough, but it was not as good as the pizza I had at Streatart. You can see the pizza being cooked in its brick oven if you walk around to the extra dining space around the back. The location is truly large, and much like most Italian architecture, looks small and slim from the entrance, but then opens up backwards and downstairs. As a tip, the drinks are very expensive, especially soda. You'll be paying about 5 Euros for a small coke a cola. There is free wifi, along with a pokestop and pokemon gym in range from the front seats. The bathroom is a single space from each gender, and it is way downstairs in a very dark lit corner, beyond the sinks. Enjoy the aesthetic though. read more

Well, sometimes you gotta try out the places you hear about. I read about this one and I actually wasn't looking for it, but ended up in the same area. It took a moment for me to figure out where I had heard the name and then I remembered, it was in a magazine called Love Florence or I Heart Florence... or something like that. Since they were spot on with La Strega Nocciola, I thought, maybe... just maybe they would be spot on with this place. The restaurant is beautiful... and massive. There are more tables in the back and if you head downstairs to the bathroom and there is a room to the right for private parties. The staff seemed very... well they lacked any kind of energy and the waiter seemed to be very condescending to everyone in there. He took orders on a handheld, smart phone/iPad/iPod something or other. There was no English menu... or so I thought. I guess I just wasn't given an English menu, but I rolled with it because it is always more fun and interesting that way. It was a fairly warm day and for some reason I decided to go with soup to start with. Why? Don't know, but yes I might be a tad bit crazy. Anyway, I chose the Zuppa Toscana. If I'm being honest, I'm not entirely sure what was in it. I think there were carrots, bread... It was bland and it was hard to distinguish any thing in the soup. It is quite a large portion though. I had a hankering for pasta, and saw: Penne strascicate alla fiorentina (ragù, burro e piselli) on the menu. I was able to make out Penne Pasta, Ragu, and Butter. It sounded interesting, so I ordered it. When it came out, it was huge portion and for 9 euro it was definitely worth it. I figured out what Piselli was... Peas! The dish was absolutely delicious. In fact that's what saved the rating from being lower. I was really full part way through, but I pushed through it because it was so good. I would say it was one of my top five favourite pasta meals I had during this trip. There were a lot of italians in there, but it looked like they were there for pizza and beer. And they were dressed in business clothes. There were some Americans in the restaurant as well, but it seemed as though they were only there for the Chicken and Avocado salad. I will let them have a pass since it was hot outside. With everything together, it was a bit on the pricey side, but in hindsight, if I had just had the pasta, water, and espresso, I think it would have been a good deal. Hands down, best food I've had in Northern Italy. We ate here three times during our stay in Florence (not something we typically do) but the ambiance and quality of the food kept us coming back. Typical trattoria in a touristy location. The place isn't cheap but the food isn't all that bad either, just nothing all that spectacular. The pizza we ordered tasted good but was pretty soggy. The seafood pasta is probably the best thing they have there but expect to pay around 20€ for the plate. The service is just so-so unless you tip the waiter, then the service becomes phenomenal. For four entrees with decent wine we spent about 150€ for four people. Pretty steep. Oh and like most places in Italy they charge you 2€ per person for bread, even if no one at your table even touches it. Pretty lame. read more

We stumbled across this place when we felt the need for a snack and a mid afternoon wine break. The main thing that attracted us was the lower prices relative to other places in the area. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service has been good thus far. We only ordered a glass or two of wine and an antipasto platter. Seems hard to mess that up... The crust was cooked perfectly and was crispy and airy. We had their homemade gnocchi which was also delicious. I needed a break from the pizza and pasta and went with their chicken salad which was very good. Service was very good and we asked for the food to come out quickly since we had a tour booked and they accommodated us. Being that it was lunch and that I'm a vegetarian, I just went for the pizza menu and selected the Bella Napoli pizza - cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. I'm not sure why it's common in Italy to give you like 4.5 leaves of basil on everything, I guess I'm just used to the United States where they pile the basil on. The pizza was essentially mozzarella and cherry tomatoes. Nevertheless, I thought it was pretty good and definitely hit the spot for lunchtime. This is an OK easy t get to traditional Tuscan Trattoria. The service just OK the menu is extensive. There are daily specials posted on a chalk board. The waiter told us to ignore them because they don't change. While the food is tasty it does not feel like it was prepared with the freshest ingredients. We had the Burrato with Tuscan ham. The Burrato was creamy in fresh. We shared the Gnocchi Sorrentino and the Carozze Tagiatelle. The Gnocchi was sticky and gooey. Not typical of the better trattorias. The Tagiatelle has sausage that was chunky and of an indistinguishable flavor. Carozze is in a prime location just off Tournabini so the foot traffic is high. No problem getting people in the door. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The absolute worst restaurant during 18 days in Liguria and Tuscany. Terrible service, no table wine offered but we found it at the back of the menu. All of the expensive wine on the first page for the tourists. I paid 8euros for two slices of eggplant which was horrible and bland. The salad was OK and my hustabnd's bolognese as OK. We left as soon as we could without desert or coffee as I did not want to give them any more money than I had to and absolutely no tip for awful lacklustre service.
