The ribeye was well cooked and well seasoned. Horseradish is delivered upon request. The sautéed spinach was excellent, possibly the best thing on the table. Looks like Vine Hospitality made a call for all LB steaks to be closed due to "hardships" confirmed by recent customers and news outlets? I have been in this restaurant twice across the many years. Truthfully the food here is only about average, only slightly above average at most? Service wise I had no issues, the problem lies with the prices. Everything was so crazy expensive even the few food tasting things just didn't feel right. Like come on, it's not worth paying that much for something that tastes like anywhere else. This review is for happy hour only! LB Steak is one of my favorite steakhouse, I have been often and always enjoy the filet and they have the best sprouts. Happy hour is just ok here. The menu is small as well as the bar area. I believe it only fits less than 20 people. There's a 4 top, a couple two tops and bar seating. You will have to come at the start of happy hour if you want to get a seat. Santana row in general can be a busy place. Since this is located in a highly busy shopping and living area, there are a lot of residence that visit often and therefore the workers are familiar with them so they are usually given a lot of attention. I like stopping in for happy hour because I love their mai tai and calamari, but that's usually it and I wish their menu was a bit larger. They used to have a nice size burger but seems they switched it out to sliders which are very small. The calamari and sauce that it comes with is good and for $6 I will always order it. Sliders with fries $10 just okay. They should have kept the full sized burger. The $10 mai tai is pretty good. Including Sunday In happy hour is nice as well. read more

Absolutely amazing service. I came in as a party of one and the staff created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Sergio took the time to introduce himself and make sure I was taken care of. The wine list was stellar. If you're looking for a good selection of dessert wines, this place is stacked with vintages of Sauternes from d'Yquem. I ended up pairing my dinner with a 2022 Cab from Brendel, which I found to be very delicate and fruit forward. Overall, I had a lovely experience here thanks to Sergio and the rest of the team. We enjoyed a pleasant brunch/lunch birthday celebration for my mother in law last week, Saturday. Food was good. I had the steak and eggs, scrambled with tots. My steak choice was the filet Mignon. My mother in law had the pan roasted chicken. My wife's selection, fried chicken and waffles, was a disappointment. We enjoyed a bread basket too. I came for Thanksgiving dinner at 5:45, and had the best experience. Only had to wait a few minutes for our table, so we stopped at the bar for a cocktail & brought it back to our table with us. It was so crowded when we first got in, but we had reservations so we were helped right away. The vibes were so good, dim lighting, with the classic steak house light on the table. Everything that we ordered to eat was sooo phenomenal, I wish I could repeat the turkey dinner!! I cannot wait to go back, the food was such quality and service was amazing! It had been some time since we had visited this restaurant and last minute Thursday night we decided to give it a try again. The back house service was good , particularly Maria who was the first to greet our table and bring us water etc and the food was delicious . We enjoyed it and we did not mind paying the 5% living wages on the check .....but when the hostess in the front of the restaurant is standing there as we leave with nothing else going on and she can't even acknowledge us, I have an issue with this. This is a hospitality business . It is not that difficult to say " thank you for joining us this evening - have a good night ..." Yes, it's on the pricey side, but it is more of an upscale steak restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I have eaten outdoors in January before, and it was not my favorite because I don't like being cold. It was enclosed, but still not as warm as I would have liked considering I run cold. We went on a weekend right when they opened and it was pretty empty. Despite that, service felt...incredibly slow somehow. I understand giving time and letting people talk or what not but this really stood out. It took 20 minutes for our waiter to take our orders but food came out fairly quickly. Wagyu fried rice especially had so much flavor and the fried rice grains were distinct. The main flavor of the steak tartare was the balsamic vinegar on there and went well with the white dollops of mayo/aioli on the side. Also comes with small pickles. SUNDAY BRUNCH: FRIED CHICKEN AND WAFFLES - BEST IN BAY AREA I've eaten at LB Steak numerous times for several occasions such as Sunday prime rib or Mother's Day. I came here last Sunday for brunch. The last time I ate here was on a Sunday in October, but I didn't eat brunch. This time when I made a reservation through OpenTable I requested the brunch menu. Before coming here I looked at the brunch menu through the LB Steak website. I thought about ordering two items: French toast and fried chicken & waffles. However when I looked at the brunch menu at LB Steak one item that stood out was LB avocado toast. I asked the server if she would recommend the French toast or LB avocado toast. She stated one item was a dessert type while the other was more filling. Since I was going to order fried chicken and waffles I decided to get LB avocado toast. Here's my take on the two items. LB avocado toast was a nice dish to start with. The combination of fried egg and avocado toast made the dish filling. However I expected the bread to be toasted instead I got a slice of bread. The fried chicken and waffles is a different story. I will say that the fried chicken and waffles at LB steak was the best I ever had. A lot of times the fried chicken is dry. The fried chicken at LB Steak was a huge, juicy breast. Most breasts I ate that were breaded and deep fried are dry. That was not the case with the dish I ate for brunch. LB Steak is an upscale restaurant located in Santa Ana row. As a steak house, they not only excel in steaks but in their appetizers, sides, other entrees, and desserts. For appetizers, I got to try two. The tuna sashimi came with a few pieces - the flavor and texture was spot on, and tasted more like a carpaccio. The bone marrow and bread was alright. With the steaks, it comes in a plate with just a steak. For sides, which is an additional cost, I recommend the brussel sprout and mash potatoes - they were delicious. I also got to try the salmon entree which came with a few vegetables and a puree - the salmon was a bit over cooked for my liking and the dish was simply salty, lacking a more complicated depth of flavor. The stars were the desserts. From the crème brûlée to the gochujang chocolate cafe to the yuzu cheese cake, my favorite was the caramel key lime pie. Why? The taste was an experience - from bitter to tangy to sweet. The service here is top notch, like what you'd expensive at an upscale dining experience. If wasn't warm or friendly, but it was great nonetheless. The presentation if all the dishes were fantastic. The interior is dimmed and felt dark in general. Overall, this isn't a place you'd normally casually go for a meal, maybe for a special occasion and with a smaller party. We did wait quite a bit to get seated (maybe ~30mins) even though we had a reservation. Service otherwise was standard. The food really fell flat, but I think it's a spot where it's more for the vibes than the actual food. Honestly my favorite dish might have been the grilled asparagus. The steak was definitely way too tough and not juicy, I'm really glad we decided to share an order of steak rather than each ordering our own. Steak price went from $59 to now $79 for 14oz ribeye.(ripoff!). It was overcooked for medium rare. We ordered 4, and everyone was not impressed with it. I love their green peppercorn sauce, which they use to also not charge.... Now it's $2 for a small 2oz cup. Ok I get it, inflation. Then when the bill comes, they charged a 5% living cost wage??? I went here last night for a group dinner and we had a great time! The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. It was pretty loud so it was a little loud to hear, but it was a busy restaurant so that made sense. The food is just ok. I had the lobster bisque and a side of fries. The bisque portion was super small. Other people at the table had the burger, chicken, or fried rice. The burger seemed to be of a good size but everything else was small portions for the price. I don't think I'd come back anytime soon because of the food but again, the service was excellent. read more

Ohhhh LB Steak! I was a bit skeptical about coming here, looking at their reviews on Yelp, but my family insisted on trying this place to celebrate different occasions for my siblings and me. I say hey! It's always nice to try new spots and give it a try despite reviews. We made a reservation and got seated; everyone was excited to order their steak of choice. I got the Filet Mignon ($56) and ordered fries on the side. I didn't think it was that good; it was chewy and tasted like it had been frozen before. It just didn't match up for the price, but the fries and my brother's mashed potatoes were good. The Caesar salad was, in fact, good as well. Overall, it was just okay for me! I wouldn't come back personally and would try another steak spot to match it up. For some reason to, they charged an extra fee on the check for being on that side of the street? This review is specific to the kitchen staff/crew. If it weren't for the wait and bartending staff my review would be much lower. My company rented out the entire main restaurant for a customer event during Nvidia's GTC conference. Unfortunately, the kitchen staff didn't get the memo. You would think with a fixed menu and full staff we would get our food in a timely manner. Unfortunately, it took them well over an hour. We actually had several customers leave instead of continuing to wait. We started at 1830 and didn't eat until 2045. The kitchen staff had no sense of urgency. The side dishes were bad. They added micro-greens to fried rice which made no sense and tasted worse. The mashed potatoes had enough butter to instantly stop your heart. And, the mushrooms were inedible. How do you screw up sautéed mushrooms?!? You know there's a problem when your dishwasher has enough time to surf social media and trade text messages (it's an open front kitchen you can see it all). The steaks were passable at least mine was. The wait staff and bartender were great. I actually felt a little bad for them as they had to deal with the upset customers. I would suggest perhaps a change in executive chef or perhaps some retraining. I was asked by my company's event team if we should return. We kicked off the meal with the Maine Lobster Bisque, followed by Brussels Sprouts, the Sautéed White Gulf Prawns, and of course, the Crispy Calamari every dish was so well-seasoned and delicious. Then came the star of the night: the LB Signature Steak the Ribeye Westholme, Australian Wagyu with their house marinade. You guys... this steak was unreal. Juicy, tender, and full of rich flavor. Takes a while to come out so keep that in mind if you order. Asked or med rare and was disappointed in the cook. Comes out on a wooden board with a few shisitos, some white and red onion bits, & micro greens. The steak was cooked unevenly. The outside was very well done, and the inside had good points of medium rare, but that was two pieces in the middle only. The flavor was good though, and it comes with I think four or five different kinds of salts. However, to be known as a steakhouse and to be charging the amount that you were charging, I expected a better technically cooked tomahawk steak. 4/5 Truffle mushroom side. Honestly the thing I liked the most out of the meal. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly with a good amount of bite and salt. My only complaint though is that the truffle is a lie. 2.5/5 Ordered two cocktails and two glasses of wine. The Malbec was fine. The other two cocktails were both from their cocktail menu that was tequila based I ordered first the pink Himalayan margarita that was decent. I'll have to update my review.... Previous visits were very good, but it seems the experience is fading away. Our family Christmas meal was quite meh.... The wait staff was not attentive, the food came at the wrong temperature and portion sizes seems very off. Being a regular customer her over the years, you order based on the amount/weight of food you want. If I would have known what would have come out, I would have ordered extra food to be cut for sharing to make up for the smaller portion. Very disappointed and now understand why reservations are so easy to come by now. Please view photos of the food that came out, but I wanted to point out specifically the tomahawk steak. I like medium rare, but my meat came out cold in the center. Normally, the slices of meat would be about 1/4 inch thick, this time it was at least 1/2 inch thick slices. My husband and I have been coming to LBS for years and have always had a good experience, which made this visit especially disappointing. We went on Valentine's Day and unfortunately, it was awful. Our drinks were terrible. We sent them back and they improved slightly, but they were still not great. To make matters worse, the restaurant added a $3 "lemon drop" charge on top of a $21 pomegranate martini. When we asked about it, our waitress wasn't able to give us a clear explanation. The food was just okay -- nothing memorable. My side dish never came out, so I had to reorder it, which added to the frustration. The only bright spot was our waitress. She was fantastic and did her best in what seemed like a chaotic situation. We've had great experiences here in the past, but for a holiday dinner, it really missed the mark. Probably the best steak I've ever had was at LB Steak House! I recommend getting the tomahawk rib eye for two; cooked medium well and also their 8oz filet mignon cooked medium. The steaks were seasoned well and cooked accurately. I was glad we were sat outside because it was cozy with the heaters and less noisy compared to dining in. Our server was so helpful and charismatic too, I forgot her name, but she was working 12/20 at 8pm. Shout out to her! All the sides we ordered were amazing. We got the LB potato, brussels sprouts, grilled asparagus, and lobster & pork belly macaroni & cheese (highly recommend). I didn't like the sauce on the asparagus and I think it was steamed. I do wonder if there was an option to ask for sautéed. For dessert we got the baked Alaska and their chocolate molten cake! one of the worst steakhouse I've been to ever. extremely overpriced and salty. For it's price, you would want a great meal but I find it hard to compliment the dishes. I think I can even find a good value steak that tastes much better so it was very very disappointing. Even I think I did have a bite of regular ribeye and it was tender. But what was wrong was the dry age ribeye was tougher than that. The filet mignon was dry. Everything was crazy salty. The mashed potatoes were salty too. The salads were not that good either. Neither the calamari green appetizer or the prawns. Lobster pork belly Mac and cheese was the most disappointing. Not only could you not find the lobster, but the Mac and cheese itself wasn't good either. Service wasn't rude. They were normal. But to be honest, for a nice reservation as a larger party, I would not choose to ever come back for a nice occasion. The table chosen was a long length table so it was hard for the servers to reach all the time and constantly had to dodge and pass many plates. It felt very very causal and not at all for a nicer occasion. Even at casual restaurants, I would not have to dodge and pass. Ordered the rib eye and a few sides, ordered the rib eye blue and mentioned to the waiter that i would send back if not blue. While ordering I was going to revise and say it could be rare as well, waiter said no problem we will make it blue. Got the steak it was medium rare...sent it back, their credit a blue steak did come out after a few minutes. Steak was seasoned well. The side of mushroom was really good! Asparagus was a little let down, a few pieces and had some sort of sauce on top of it, couldnt tell what it was and did not add much.
