I've been in with friends a few times now, most recently after zoo lights! Every time the staff are kind and efficient. Our orders have always been correct and our food tastes good. Lazy Chameleon has a number of live music nights, bingo nights, etc throughout the week and a sand volleyball court in the parking lot. Went to this dive bar cause I was craving key lime pie haha. We ended up sitting outside since it was a nice night. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and fries. My husband got the mahi mahi tacos and the tater tots. Also got some hot wings too. All the food turned out really good!! I was surprised how good it was!! Needed a place to eat after the zoo, this was a bit off the beaten path so hopefully less busy, and: $1 kid's meals on Wednesday! Usually $5-7, and they have mac for K, plus a few other standard options. Pulled up and it definitely leans heavily on the "bar" portion of bar and grille, but hey, they have kid's meals so it must be okay. Beach volleyball court out front, plenty of bands on their schedule, decent beer list, two bars, mainly hightop tables. Not busy at 4pm on a Wednesday, but a steady stream of diners and drinkers. Interesting menu, basically bar food but up a notch or so. I ended up with coconut shrimp: plenty of fat shrimp, in a good batter with lots of coconut, paired with a pineappley sauce on the side. Came with two sides, I got onion rings and coleslaw, both pretty good. K got the mac, with fries, and loved both, and the shrimp. Good service. Reasonably prices ($30 for plenty of food plus pop, same as I'd paid for two drinks and two pretzel nugget portions at the zoo.) We had a few leftovers. Ambiance: Came here after a full day at the zoo and the patio was empty at 6pm. The sun does set on the patio side so be warned you may have people getting beat by the sun for part of the night. That said there are picnic benches and metal tables they can arrange to accommodate any size party and the staff are super friendly. They brought out a lidded cup for our 3 yr old nephew without asking and were communicative about where are meal was during our wait. Food: I had the Baja fish tacos which were pretty decent but nothing spectacular. The fish was generously portioned and the slaw was not too creamy or anything. I'd say the dish needed something to give it some pizazz like a fresh salsa or something spicy. It did come with a side of fries which were pretty solid and had a decent crisp. My mother in law did get the mahi mahi fish tacos but felt it tasted way fishier than mine so didn't finish it. My wife on the other hand thoroughly enjoyed her cajun mac n cheese which had a good amount of sliced andouille sausage and shrimp that was actually perfectly cooked! The noodles weren't over cooked and the sauce was actually pretty creamy albeit light in the Cajun spice. Overall we enjoyed a good family dinner here. The food, while far from gourmet, is actually pretty good. I probably wouldn't come back just for food but can see how this would be a fun place to spend an evening if you take advantage of their volleyball court, live music, or drink menu. read more

Fun local bar with pretty good food, but great live music. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a charity event and the staff was fun and friendly. Service from Bartenders and wait staff was super friendly and fast. We enjoyed appetizers and drinks. For Appetizers check out the Chicken Quesadilla and Chicken Nachos. I dont think it would be a great dinner place, but i see many friends enjoy it. They have a good choice of drafts and decently stocked bar. Their live music schedule and atmosphere is great and the community is lucky to have it. Check it out for a great night of music. read more

I really like this place. The food is really good, the staff is off the charts. Came in during the week and didn't appreciate that there was some kind of political party meeting here. Put me off. So lets start with the positive. Its a fairly large place 2 pool tables, volleyball court, darts, 2 bars, dancing space, and some bartenders who hustle and make some dayummm! strong drinks!!! BON JOURNEY played the night we were there and even though its not my type of music the band was very talented. We ordered pizza and the tortilla chips tray which came with queso, quac and salsa. Both pizza and chips tray were pretty tasty. Now it may have just been that particular night, but it seemed like a middle aged drunk pick up joint. Nothing wrong that, just not my type of scene. The guy behind the bar was great, super nice and attentive, this review is based solely on the Baja and Panko fish tacos. I'm from south Florida, grew up deep sea fishing and these were genuinely the worst fish tacos I've ever had. When fish tastes "fishy", it means it's old/going bad and they were so fishy, I couldn't finish one taco. Haven't tried the burgers, but maybe one day. It was a beautiful night so we sat on the patio and watched people play volleyball, we were noticed quickly, the staff checked in regularly and made sure our glasses were full. The overall experience was almost perfect (the almost is for the weather which, sadly, the Lazy Chameleon cannot change) We came in last night for the crab legs and holy crap. You get a heaping pile of huge crab legs and 2 sides for $21.99 I think... Honestly I don't care if it was $50 they were that good. I chose a salad and onion rings for my sides, not only was the salad fresh, but the onion rings were probably the best I've ever had. I'm now going to literally write a letter home to mom about the crab legs. Dear Mom, It's been a while since I've written you, sorry about that. I wanted to let you know that I'm about to make the hardest decision I've ever had to. I won't be coming over for dinner on Wednesdays anymore. The Lazy is a staple in Powell. I haven't been in forever but it didn't let me down this time. The live music and great food items keep the locals coming back for more. Since I've been they have added an outdoor volleyball court that I will have to try out this upcoming summer. read more

Recently went to Lazy Chameleon to watch our favorite 80s cover band. Located north of Dublin, almost to Powell, it was a little hike from the west side. It is a hot spot for local music, with live bands there 3-4 weeks. It's a average sized bar with a stage, big open seating, and pool tables. They have a wide selection of liquors and common domestics/import beers. The wait staff was fantastic!!! The music and stage was great. Sometimes it feels like places cram a stage into a bar when there isn't enough room, but not so with the Chameleon. The stage is off to the side with room for dancing without feeling like you need to avoid stepping on other people. I didn't get a chance to try the food, but hear it is good. I will definitely make a return trip to the Chameleon! read more

Situated in a strip center just of of Sawmill Parkway in Powell, the Lazy Chameleon touts itself as the "best seafood and margaritas in Columbus!" Whereas I did not try the seafood nor the margaritas, I suspect that the claim of having the best in town might be a bit of hyperbole. The Lazy Chameleon is a bar that includes some seafood offerings, the majority of which are on the appetizer menu. Frankly, I was a little leery about the quality of the seafood and ordered the Cajun Pasta Alfredo ($12.99) and Lori selected the Chopped Salad with Steak ($9.99). For starters, we ordered the Mucho Nachos ($6.99) which consisted of ground beef, cheddar cheese sauce, salsa, jalapenos, and a scoop of sour cream deposited on a bed of room temperature nacho chips. Not very imaginative, but what one might expect as a pub appetizer. After collecting our menus, the server returned to our table to ask if it was OK that my entree was served with rice. I thought that a rather off question since I ordered a pasta dish, but she caught me a bit off guard and I didn't question her as I should have. Well, once the entree was served, it became clear that a mistake had been made. Instead of the Cajun Pasta Alfredo, I was presented with the Southwest Chicken ($10.49). Rather than extending our visit by returning the chicken for what I had actually ordered, I accepted it. The plate consisted of two grilled chicken breasts topped with shredded cheese, bacon, and salsa on a bed of rice (as promised!). At my request, about 10 onion rings accompanied the chicken. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was on par with a strip center bar. Lori assured me that her salad was good. It is unlikely that I will return to the Lazy Chameleon unless it is for the live music. However, I will be sure to keep my culinary expectations low. This is our favorite place to go to to see the local bands that we enjoy. Although we don't go out often we do always make sure to check the Lazy Chameleon schedule to see who is playing on an occasional basis. The place is pretty nice and wide open, there are pool tables which are reasonable so we usually enjoy those while waiting for a band to play. The drinks here are also reasonable and not watered down so when we have the occasion to we usually drink some of their mixed drinks as well. The stage is not huge but it's large enough and provides room for the band to move around some. As most places the place is sort of dead until about 11pm, then it really fills up and picks up. There's a nice patio for the smokers as well right off the front entrance. They have also recently (not sure when) added a volleyball lot in front as well which is nice if you're into that sort of thing. The waitresses here are always nice, the service isn't always the fastest as it gets pretty busy but it's not going to be a problem for you either I don't imagine. If it is you can always double up on your drinks, get a bucket of beer or simply walk up to one of the two bars and get the drink yourself. I'd highly recommend the Lazy Chameleon for it's drinks and entertainment. I have only eaten here once, during New Years, and it was really good but I don't imagine a New Years dinner is the same as what they serve the rest of the time so I can't say much about the food. This is a place for drinking but not for eating. The service is fine. We ordered the special of the day, a seafood platter. We were led to believe that we should order that if we were really hungry or share it. $24 for 1 piece of over cooked cod, 3 over cooked coconut shrimp with a sauce that was so hard we couldn't dip anything in it, and 4 over cooked scallops. They were incredibly accommodating​, attentive, responsive, words cannot express how grateful I am to them for making what could have been a very stressful night into an absolute breeze. The cost was very reasonable, which of course made me think the food wouldn't be that good. It's bar food after all, what can I expect? Wow...I was wrong - the food was fantastic. I don't know any bar that hand makes pretty much everything and the quality showed - the food was really good (and I have pretty high standards). During the party, the staff were all super nice, again incredibly accommodating​ and attentive and helpful. Columbus and surrounding areas doesn't have a lot of bars that have proper room for bands. This bar is one the best places to watch a live band! A great stage, lighting and sound! A 80s rock band played last night, These Guys Live. I danced a lot. Our server, I think her name was Tammy, was awesome! I came on a very snowy night to see my buddy play. I called as they said they would be closing the kitchen around 10, but they kept it open a little longer because I was going to be late. My friends band never showed up, but I still had a good time. They have a couple pool tables in the back and the food is pretty good. They need to expand their soda list which consists of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Sierra Mist. No ginger ale, no Mountain Dew. The margarita pizza isn't bad, but not what you might be used to, and the peel and eat shrimp aren't bad. I wouldnt come specifically looking for a great selection of fresh seafood or anything. Few bars (if any) in Columbus offer the kind of stage setup, audio and lighting detailing, and overall stage professionalism that the Lazy Chameleon has. The service is what did it. Band was decent food was very good, but Matt the waiter made the night. This guy is all hustle!! Not a dirty dish left to linger for more than a couple minutes. Me and my buddy bought a bucket of beer and he replenished the ice after 30 mins. By garbage best waiter/server I have had in a venue like this ever. I'll be back and Matt is a huge part of that. My wife and I are semi-regulars...usually go a couple times a month. Living in Powell can be pretty boring, so thank God for this gem of a club. Bands are usually good-to-awesome, and the facility itself is great. Never eaten there in all these years, though, so I can't speak to the food. What really makes this place stand out is the staff. This is a really good place to watch live music, if you see an act you enjoy rolling through then I would surely make the trip up to Powell to check it out. One caution, the stage is usually behind a closed garage door, the first time I went here to watch a show I thought I was in the wrong spot since there wasn't a stage visible. Just before the music starts they open the garage door, so do not fret, they really do have a stage. The crowd tends to be mid to late 20s early 30s with plenty of cougars on the prowl. I went here on a Friday night to hear the cover band that plays weekly. I think the band was pretty good. The place was empty and the people who were the were a much older crowd than I had been led to believe, think 40+. It was uncomfortably loud at this bar, like having a conversation inside wasn't an option. The worst part hands down was when I walked in to the woman's bathroom and there was NO sink!
