OVERALL The Lazy 6 is a decent restaurant for a sit-down meal in Lovington, NM, but I can't imagine going here often as the pricing is a bit steep for what you get... or rather, don't get. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 2 PARKING The huge white building has parking all around it. LOCATION/AMBIANCE When you walk in there is a ranch-style home vibe. The old register was something I overheard the owner had found like 30 years prior in a shop in Roswell -- and it's still in good working condition! The ceilings are high. There were family photos adorning the walls and counters. The restroom needs a little work. It was difficult to get one of the sink handles to close properly - no wonder the water was running when I walked in... and the restrooms are a bit weird to get to as they are way far in the back. THE GRUB I had heard their onion rings were delicious, but I was only feeling a patty melt ($10) and a side of avocado ($2.50) and a jalapeno ($1). The patty melt was not hardly greasy at all, but lacked a bit of flavor. My waitress cut up my avocado and jalapeno like I was a child which made me laugh. It was a good lunch with my lemonade served in a large styrofoam takeout cup (which had to have been around $2.50 because my grand total was $17 and some change). Their drinks were not listed on the menu that I received. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They do have a kid's menu currently (as of 9/19/2023) with chicken, chicken strips, steak fingers, or a taco with "avocado and nothing else!" (Their words, not mine.) SERVICE Service was okay. They took a while to get to me which I find to be absolutely reprehensible. I sat near the prep station and was passed by multiple employees so I'm not sure why even getting my drink order took so long. The employees, however, were on their phones and/or fratenizing with each other a bit too much for my liking. MY FAVORITE PART... The atmosphere. Aside from the year-round Christmas decor. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The price. Pretty steep for such a no-frills lunch if you ask me. Probably won't be back for a long time for that reason. If you have a kooky aunt who just adores country/cowboy/kitchen kitch/farm equipment/Americana decor. This is the diner she would decorate. It was everything my group was looking for in a smallish town diner! You could go here everyday for a year and find something new each time! The food was delicious. I had the Velveeta burger and 1/2 &1/2 fries, onion rings and left none of the ample portions behind. Don't expect a fancy "gourmet" hipster burger here. Just solid medium done pattys. The coconut cream meringue pie looked awesome and although I was too stuffed to try it was recieved well by my colleagues. Or waitress was awesome. Not cloying and super pleasant. Stopped by for lunch. This was my first time eating here. Super cute atmosphere. Service is good. Lots of busy smiling faces. I got the steak fingers. There was like 8-10 perfectly seasoned fingers. It came with a choice of onion rings or fries. The fries were homemade fries delicious crispy not soggy perfectly salted. It also came with a piece of Texas toast and a bowl of gravy. I've eaten at the Lazy 6 probably 50 times since 1999. I'm new to Yelp, but not new to the Lazy 6, and was shocked to see a 1 Star review from someone named Toby. By the way, all the other reviews are 5 Stars, but he gave a 1 Star. I'm going to suggest that he has an axe to grind. There are plenty of decent restaurants in Lovington, so he doesn't have to go to the Lazy 6. But, it is very clear from his review that he has been at least twice; once inside (because he commented on the decor) and once at the drive thru (because he comment on his dropped coinage situation). If it was so bad why did he go at least twice? I think this person is very likely not a real reviewer. My guess is he's someone who has a personal issue in someway that has NOTHING to do with the food. So let me give you a real review. The Lazy 6 has a fantastic menu of amazing southern comfort food. I've had everything from a Cheese Burger & Fries to a Taco Salad. My favorite is their Chicken Fried Steak. Their portions are exactly what you'd expect, Big. But the real treat is the homemade pies. I live in Arizona, so I only get to come to Lovington a couple times a year to visit friends and family. But the Lazy 6 is always on my list. In fact, I'll be eating there tonight! read more

Our first time at the Lazy 6 left us with wanting to go back soon. The hamburgers were great and the portions of onion rings and french fries were large and very tasty. It was very busy at lunch but the service was quick. I kept looking at all the other orders going by. I wanted to try them all. The atmosphere is that of a western museum. So many things to look at and so many things to remember. It has got to have the largest collection of old western memorabilia in Southeast New Mexico. We will be back. read more

My Mom and I were traveling through Lovington, NM and saw the yelp reviews. So we decided to stop here for lunch. The restaurant is very western country atmosphere! We loved looking around at all the interesting different things on the wall! We ordered cheese burgers with a half order of onion rings and fries. The burger was a large juicy burger that came with grilled onions! Yum! The onion rings were exactly the way we like them which is thin and crispy! Delicious! Also the fries were a nice size and hand cut! Incredible! Our server was fast, helpful, and friendly. Also saw someone having the steak fingers and another having the chicken fry steak! Both looked phenomenal! We also had the homemade Coconut Pie which was delicious as well! We met the owner on our way out and she was super nice!
