OVERALL Baker Brothers Bar & Grill is still one of the better places to grab a decent dinner & drinks in town. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 3 | Service: 3 | Ambiance: 3 | Price: 3 PARKING Their lot is kind of funky, but there is ample parking in a shared lot and in a large caliche space further out front. LOCATION/AMBIANCE The restaurant formerly known as Holidaze (which you'll probably still see signs and memorabilia for) is at the northernmost end of the Dal Paso Center. When you walk in, they usually let you choose your own table or booth. Back in the day the pool tables used to be in the main area. Now they've changed it all up and put them in a closed off area to the right when you walk in - the vibes just aren't the same. It's more "family-friendly" now. THE GRUB A full bar is available. Drinks come out relatively quick - even when it's packed. Margarita (way too much salt on the rim) $8 Sweet iced tea $3.25 Kid's drinks $2.95 each Half dozen wings $10.50 Patty melt (entails a few strips of bacon; optional onion rings as the side were good) $13.75 French dip $14 Chips & salsa $4.50 (the chips were a bit overcooked) Kid's burger $7.50 (Add $.15 for "add ketchup") LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They have a few items on their kids menu, but if you make special requests - like adding bacon to the cheeseburger - they will oblige, but then they'll forget to add it. My daughter didn't want to make a fuss about it and I didn't see an extra charge on my bill. SERVICE While friendly, it took a while for a waitress to get to us initially as she didn't notice us sit down. It would certainly help if the wait staff communicated with one another as we were greeted and told to sit where we like by another waitress. MY FAVORITE PART... My youngest daughter really enjoyed her garlic parmesan chicken wings. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... How bland my patty melt was. TIPS + A drive-thru window is available for pickup. + Breakfast is 6AM-11AM. + Closed Sunday & Monday + Happy hour is daily 2PM-6PM

Great bar with good food and great service. I'd recommend their steak fingers if you're in the mood. The burgers are great as well.

Wait time for food exceeded 30 minutes. Only two other tables occupied. What's the problem?

OVERALL I went to high school with several friends who still…read morerave about Nipa Hut. Don't get me wrong, they are good and with good portions, but they aren't my absolute favorite in town. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING If there aren't any spots in the shared lot with the nearby Stripes (convenience store), then there is a caliche lot with a few mud pits you can go 4-wheeling in. Lol. LOCATION/AMBIANCE The location honestly is not all that pretty. There are run-down houses nearby. Once inside, the glass door doesn't shut all the way allowing all the cold air from outside on 12/29/2022 to swoop in. I really appreciate how they have bought all of the Hobbs High athletic fundraiser posters all these years. There is no outdoor seating, but some indoor seating. THE GRUB First off, these are huge burritos. The portions are good. + bacon, cheese, & egg ($5.50) = my kids could only eat about half of theirs + grande chorizo ($6) = chorizo, egg, cheese, & potato... I enjoyed it for the most part. Their homemade tortillas were my favorite part because they have a slighter thickness than anyone else in town. + the green salsa is far superior to the red salsa especially if you like it spicy! LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB No kid's menu to my knowledge. SERVICE They are the nicest folks in town! MY FAVORITE PART... The name of one of their most popular burritos is called the "Grumpy burrito." Lol... I will try that someday for sure. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... It's a long wait with phone orders and walk-in orders. Expect 20-25 minutes on their busier days. TIPS + Call in your orders for pickup. - Closed Sunday & Saturday.

PROS + beautiful, well-maintained golf course/grounds within view of the dining room + outdoor dining is also available + super friendly, efficient bartender (she's been there every single Wednesday I come in during 2023) + decent food... comes out hot and fresh! + moderately priced + many key places are within the vicinity (see my list below) + pro shop is next door + casual dress code is okay CONS I feel like the dining area could use a makeover. Also, the last visit to the women's restroom there was no soap in the dispenser (4/26/2023). I mentioned that several key campuses and sights were nearby. Here's my short list in alphabetical order: + CORE (Center of Recreational Excellence) + Hobbs Veterans Memorial + Lovington Highway Health Walk (concrete walking path parallel to Highway 18) + McAdams Park + New Mexico Junior College + University of the Southwest + Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame + Zia Park Casino Hotel & Racetrack

Yummy! If your ever in the area and are looking for some good Mexican food then head on over here!…read more We waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday around lunch time to get seated. People were coming and going. Our server came on over right away, took our drink orders, and brought over some chips and salsa. The chips were delicious and the red salsa was so good! We were a party of 5 and we all decided to try something different. We ordered: One caldo de res (with rice) One menudo (w tortillas) One order of the chicken flautas (salad, guacamole) One mixed fajitas (rice and beans) One order of the Carne Asada tacos (beans) One order of tacos de alambre (rice and beans) Two Mexican sodas, one lemonade, one Dr. pepper Our total came out to be $73. Our food came out one by one and so we all ate at different times. The food though was delicious! The menudo is great and I loved that it was cooked well. The tacos de alambre are seasoned perfectly and the meat is super juicy. The chicken flautas were stuffed with chicken and they were perfect when dipping into the red salsa. We all enjoyed our food and left stuffed. It was busy though, so it was definitely hard to grab our servers attention whenever we needed anything.. Portions are pretty big so come hungry!

Meanwhile I was out for coffee and a hair dryer to keep at his house. Lol. Chiquita's turned out to be a blessing in disguise and a small business was supported! This little place is easily missed if you're not looking for it on the south side of Hobbs, NM, on Dal Paso St. MY FAVORITE PART... How hot & massive the foul-wrapped burritos were. Very filling. Chiquita's does not skimp on any ingredients. MY LEAST FAVORITE PART... They are open most days at 6AM, but close everyday at 2PM except Sundays. Sunday they are open from 7AM-1PM. THE GRUB + Asado, beans and rice. That's probably my favorite burrito in town! + They can do just about any burrito you request... one of my daughter's wanted sausage, egg and cheese. The other wanted bacon, egg and cheese. They were super yummy. The salsa is hot and spicy and comes in the small containers, but it's so good. TIP They have a drive-thru! They included some old-fashioned peppermints in our bag. My 7-year-old was not a fan of them. I've decided she's not my kid after all. Lol. Thanks, Chiquita's!
