RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 3 | Service: 4 | Ambiance: 2 | Price: 3 PARKING There was ample parking all around the building at 11 AM. LOCATION/AMBIANCE It's located fairly in the center of Lovington. Not difficult to find with the purple and white stripes. I know it happens, but it's gross to see a rat trap in front of the building. And hoards of pigeons hang out above the covered parking where I had to position my trusty Jeep to wait for my food. The other thing I was irritated by was there was no visible menu at the drive-thru window. THE GRUB I asked about the Pancho burger which did not have a description on the menu the nice employee handed me. He said, "double meat, double cheese with green chili, ketchup and mustard..." I stopped him. "I'll take one of those without ketchup and mustard. Add mayo." When I got it, it was smaller than anticipated for it being $10.70 with a small drink. The meat tasted a bit weird to me. They went skimpy on the veggies. I barely had any lettuce. Nothing else. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB I don't recall seeing a kid's menu. SERVICE Was nice, but not well-rehearsed in how much their specials were. MY FAVORITE PART... It's got some old school charm. NOT SO FAVORITE PART... I wanted so bad for the burger to be a Lovington favorite, but it was not.

*** good choice for some Baja-style Mexican food in southeastern New Mexico ***…read more When I have a lot on my mind, I drive to a new-to-me place and EAT. Baja Grill in Lovington, NM, was on my bookmarks for a long time. It was well worth the wait! At around 1:45 pm, I walked into a nearly empty restaurant. I was seated right away and served some very good red salsa and crispy, semi-thick homemade tortilla chips. I liked the variety of high-top and normal-height tables. I knew as soon as I saw "blackened tilapia" on the menu I had to have it. "Served on a bed of rice pila" ($12.99), it also came with my choice of two sides. The charro beans and fried okra were excellent! While my fish wasn't the freshest, the seasoning was really delicious. The outer edges were crispy, but inside the fish was flaky and moist. I also ordered a refreshing Sprite. Paid cash. Got just a little less than $4 back. Service was nice, but my waitress only checked on me after she realized I was ready to go. The food is fairly unique to Lea County. I can see why my employees like this place. I'm glad I had a lot on my mind that day... Really dumb parking lot, though. No painted lines so everyone just parks like idiots. And it's rather dull on the outside. Hard to easily recognize that it's a place that serves seafood. A medium cranberry limeade ($1.61) came out in less than 3 minutes after pressing send on my app (hence the discount). A friendly young lady delivered it. My thirst was quenched for the 20-minute drive home. The worst part was all of the nearby road construction. In the time that road construction begins anywhere in New Mexico, The Black Death (a bubonic plague pandemic that occurred in Europe from 1346 to 1353) would have came and went. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but the roads are terrible here and it often takes years for a project.

While the fries were scrumptious and still piping hot by the time I brought my takeout home, the burger was a bit dry and lacked flavor. The cheese was not fully melted. One strip of fried onion ring - not even a whole one - was stacked on top. Lol. It wasn't terrible, but just mediocre. For $25.34, it's a big no from here on out. The waitress/hostess/takeout order lady was extremely nice, but overwhelmed. Spill root beer all down the side my cup, yet, she apologized. I forgive her because she was a hustler, baby! Big plus was it was ready when they said it would be. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 3 | Service: 4.5 | Ambiance: 3 | Price: 2
