Are the Pasties here amaze balls? Hell yes! But let's talk about coleslaw for a hot minutes. This was creamy and Horseradishy!!!! OMG! I could eat it the rest of my life. The Pastie was soft, flaky, meaty, and as it turns out my husband and I seem to really like rutabagas. The gravy was standard but not overly salty and we love that. I just hate when all I get is salty taste. We value the flavor of the ingredients. Also beware that pasty is piping hot. No frills a place to set and eat pizza, pastys or a cudighi an Italian pork patty of immense favor it was delicious. The young lady was awesome she never stopped baking and was a wealth of knowledge while I was waiting for my cudighi which is great, but be sure to pickup some pickles and the Ketchapeno ketchup better than spicy Whataburger Ketchup. read more

Driving for miles on a cold and snowy road, Lawry's was a site for sore eyes. The Upper Peninsula is known for their pasty shops, and there was no better time to stop for one. My favorite Pasty. The perfect blend of beef, potato, rutabaga, (not too much) onions & spices "all wrapped up in our signature crust". Their Cudighi is huge and delicious. I've also heard the pizza is amazing which wouldn't surprise me. Although it would be hard to NOT get a Pasty here, I look forward to trying some of their other items some day (sandwiches, pizzas). This place is no joke. Consistent hours when many places can't provide that with staffing issues. Delicious cudighi sandwiches (half is probably more than enough). THE MOST AMAZING BREAKFAST PASTIES. Wonderful "regular" pasties as well. To top it all off, the staff is patient, accommodating and kind. Walked in 20 minutes before closing this last time, 10 hours into my drive, and got ZERO attitude. Phone rang at 9:55pm for a pizza while I was there waiting, again, zero attitude from those guys. I stop every trip (always Ishpeming) and stock up on frozen and we enjoy from the LP until the next visit. Can't say enough about this place. read more

Yah hey dare. This is the closest pasty shop to my cabin in Michigamme. The pasties are good and the crust is something that I think is unique to Lawry's. By unique i mean it doesn't taste like shit. Most of the other pasty places seem to have that problem They have sandwiches that would feed an army but they are kind of blah but I'm just reviewing the pasties. Whenever the D gets to be too much for me I load Destro in the car and we head on up to the cabin and pick a few of these up. Destro gets to waggin' his tail and he gets some of the crust and he agrees. Its the best in the world. So two thumbs and two paws way up! read more

This was my first UP visit in 30 years, so I hungered for a UP traditional pasty! No gravy of course, just ketchup! After hitting Dobbers, Jean Kay's, and Iron Pasty----the pasty from Lawrys was the best. Tasty crust, tasty meat, potato and rutabaga! What I liked about Lawrys is the filing was the way I remembered from back in the day. Dobbers and Iron Pasty had little taste and Jean Kay's was just ok, but the weird large chunks of steak seemed out of place. My favorite thing from Lawry's, is actually not even a pasty at all (although they are great). It would have to be the BBQ Pork sandwich. Their rolls (from scratch like everything else here), are soft and the pork is packed with flavor. Did I mention this sandwich is practically the size of an adult's face? It is huge! All my pasty eating has been down along the Wisconsin banana belt below Milwaukee. Several were pretty good. When I told yooper friends I'd be in Ishpeming, they insisted I eat here. They were RIGHT! My husband brought home a dozen of the mini pasties after he ate there on a trip. We cooked them up today for lunch. They weren't long in the oven before the most wonderful smell started drawing everyone into the kitchen. They were SO good! The crust was lighter than some pasty crusts I have had and the inside was tender and tasty. This is my family's favorite pasty shop when we come to visit in the summer. We were warmly greeted when we entered. I went there for lunch and really liked the small sized pasty, which was served piping hot and perfectly seasoned. I am a pastie junkie...seriously. It is in my blood- so when I get to the northwoods, I buy as much and as many as I can. When I was here last weekend, I spent over a $100. I have over two dozen pasties from two different places and this place was AWESOME! We were there at 8 AM on a Sunday and I had a breakfast pastie and the husband had the local sausage cudighi.
