Finished it off with a chocolate chunk (chocolate chip cookie) to set off my birthday breakfast the right way! I love Chicago and this is the first time I've ever been to this establishment. I was a little surprised that the cheddar was white cheddar since back home I'm used to yellow, but it was good nonetheless! The price was fair, especially for such a good meal, but the service was by far my favorite part of the experience. Our waitress, Maddy, recommended the waffles, and honey, I am SO glad I listened! She was absolutely right about the streusel on top. Chef's kiss!! And trust me, I'm not usually a waffle girl, but I sure was today! We're in town celebrating my hubby's birthday, and Maddy remembered! She made sure he got to pick out a pastry, and those little thoughtful touches mean so much to me. It's one thing to have good food, but it's another to have someone make you feel welcomed, remembered, and taken care of. Whenever we're back in Chicago, we will absolutely be returning, especially to this location! It is so cute inside and out and CLEAN! I love seeing a clean bathroom in an establishment so kudos! Thank you, Maddy, for making our experience so special. Beatrix, you've got a good one!

So searching in Yelp I see a Cuban restaurant, and that's my fav, so I went in and I had a great early dinner. Cafecito would be at home in a pre-revolutionary Cuban building, when Art Deco architecture permeated much of Havana and the other major cities in Cuba. Plenty of outdoor seating, but I chose to eat in the cafe area due to time constraints. I had the Vaca Frita which I haven't had in over 60 years and wow, it was amazing.
