Tried two different breakfast sandwiches over my two visits and liked the English muffin one best! The cold brew I had was also delicious. Unlike a lot of coffee shops they had Soy Milk in addition to Oat and Almond. They also have tons of indoor and outdoor seating. This was perfect because on Friday morning they were quite busy. I love coming to Dollop because it's just ol' reliable with locations everywhere. This location is quite small but there are enough tables if you wish to sit and enjoy your coffee or get some work done. They are quick with orders, even with the morning rush. This was by far my favorite coffee shop that I got to experience during my trip to Chicago. We stayed near the Westin and it was a quick walk to Dollop. There was one barista inside but no one seemed to be rushing or acting rudely. I ordered a latte with syrup and a plain bagel. Easily the best bagel I've had (granted I'm from the south, so my experience with fresh homemade bagels is limited) but I've been thinking about it ever since. Hidden gem! I love stopping by here for my morning coffee. The ambiance is cozy and charming, making it a nice spot for catching up with friends, reading a book, or doing some light computer work. My daughter and I love this place! Everyone there is extremely nice, and the coffee and Matcha are so good! We are vacationing in Chicago for 10 days. My 15-year-old loves a good Matcha, and once we went here, she wanted to come back every day! We practically did. I've been here a few times and the food and coffee are always great. The breakfast sandwich is one of the best in the area. It's usually busy, and I get that the staff is limited. However, I recently waited in line only to be told at the front that they weren't doing food anymore. Meanwhile, they were still making sandwiches for others and I checked- still accepting online food orders. If food isn't available because it's busy, please let the whole line know so people don't waste their time waiting. That is all I came for. Also, the woman who usually works the register is always in a bad mood. Not just today, but the other 5x I've been as well. The food is great, but the experience isn't always worth it. Not much to say for this little coffee shop: it's cute and it gets the job done. Chicago is littered with Starbucks, so it was nice to go to a smaller place. I got the Stinger bagel sandwich and it was pretty good: Egg, Bacon, Chive Cream Cheese, and Hot Honey. I'd never think to put hot honey on a bacon, egg, and cheese; but it worked pretty good. The only con for this place is that when this place gets busy it is busy. It's really small inside, so it's better to get in and get out. Dollop Coffee seems to be located in an apartment building and has a small patio outside. I ordered my go-to, an oat latte. It's a small space inside, I wouldn't recommend this spot for working or studying as it seems like more of a grab and go type vibe. There's a nice fancy lounge area adjacent to the shop but I couldn't tell if it was part of the apartment building itself. My latte was put together quickly, but I was definitely taken aback by the tiny size, especially for $6. By far the most expensive latte I had in all of Chicago. On the last day of a work trip to Chicago I needed a quick breakfast before I departed for the airport. I saw that this café was a short walk from my hotel and it was a beautiful spring morning so I walked their way. It's a pretty standard hip coffeeshop. You have a beautifully decorated interior with a few hipsters (do folks still use that term?) brewing up a storm behind the counter, and a selection of merch and coffee bags to select if you are in the mood to shop. I ordered a specialty drink (afterall I was basically on vacation!) and it was good. Nothing to write home about but it was about what I was expecting. I was hoping they'd have a larger selection of pastries to choose from but from what was available I picked out a scone that hit the spot. Finished up at the nearby hospital and stumbled bleary-eyed into this coffee shop at around 8am. It's tucked away in a relatively residential neighborhood just north of all the hospitals in Streeterville, at the base of an apartment building. A small menu, a few pastry items (mostly donuts) are available, with some offerings of sandwiches. I got a mocha latte and a lemondrop? old fashion donut. Both solid picks - the barista definitely knew what he was doing. Probably one of the better milk froths I've had. The mocha flavor was strong, but not too sweet, which contrasted nicely with the donut. Overall, it was a solid cup of coffee that was worth revisiting - if the price was just a bit cheaper. Currently a medium size cup goes for around $6 - which accounting for the recent inflation seems almost acceptable. Would come by again, if I'm feeling more Ebenezer Scrooge-ish. read more

This was a speedy breakfast coffee visit during a recent work trip to Chicago. I was in need of an early morning kickstart and found Dollop Coffee on Yelp, conveniently located a few blocks from my hotel. For those visiting the area, Dollop Coffee is located a stone's throw from Michigan Avenue, the charming Seneca Park and the waterfront. It's quite the ideal location and they also have a handful of patio spots available for outdoor seating. I ordered the cappuccino with a splash of lavender syrup and it was quite delicious. I also picked up a bag of beans for the road (my new favorite souvenir). The price seemed average for both and the drink was delicious. The only reason I didn't go all in on the five stars was that the customer service was a-okay. Was in Chicago on business and was leaving early on September 20. A co-worker had told me about an awesome beignet he purchased at Dollop around the corner from our hotel the day before. I decided I wanted to try it, too. I got there too early, but I waited until the doors opened and got it to go--and I was so glad I waited. Had a cinnamon latte and a blackberry beignet. Coffee was great (I guess that's what they're known for so it makes sense), but the beignet was out of this world. Generously filled--which is super rare anywhere else in my opinion. And so fresh! Ordered a Berried Alive drip which is supposed to have notes of Baked Spices, Dark Chocolate, and Black Cherry. I could taste the tartness of the Black Cherry, and there is a slight acidity to this coffee. Personally, I prefer something more on the nutty side, but the acidity was this not too bad and provided a nice change-up from my usual preferences without being overwhelming. If you are working solo you may find the long bar an adequate space, but there is only one plug that I noticed, so hopefully your laptop & phone are charged! I ordered a large lavender vanilla latte w/ almond milk. With a $1 tip it cost nearly $8. The drink wasn't that large (I almost wonder if she accidentally gave me a medium, but I can't be sure.) I didn't enjoy this latte as much as I've enjoyed a similar latte from a different coffee shop. Something about the flavor was slightly off for me. Not undrinkable, but not something I'd order again. It was cool in temp (rather, "warmish"). I should've ordered it extra hot, because I like to slowly sip my lattes. With it starting at such a cool temp I had to drink it more quickly than I'd prefer for fear it would be stone-cold in no time. However, the presentation was lovely. Unfortunately the employees at the adjoining apartment entrance were incredibly rude and continuously attempted to kick paying customers out of the coffee shop for being "too big of a group" and "interrupting regulars." Love supporting smaller businesses. Go out of my way to do so What a horrible experience. Coffee was terrible but the service was worse. My elderly mother goes to this location as a treat, about 8x a month. We ordered drinks when there were only 3 other people waiting. Additional staff entered and they all greeted each other and got to "work". Complaining about having to be there. But happy to see each other. No one washed their hands. Touching POS, rubbing their nose, itching their ears, handling personal bags, headphones and their hair and then putting their hands inside the cups before filling with weak coffee. No hand washing. They were speaking a different language in front of us thinking we didn't understand but I'm fluent in the language they were speaking and heard everything Insulting us, rolling their eyes when my mom asked to just give her a coffee after seeing a man gather tea bag with his dirty hands. She was willing to pay the extra and just trade out the product (coffee was less than the tea) she just wanted to leave. When the woman gave her a small coffee (verses a large that was still less than what she ordered and just common courtesy) she asked ,can I have the large cup, they spatted about and said more rude things and then said do you just want a refund. Okay thats fine -when asking for the receipt to ensure it went through the woman grasped it with sticky tongs and flung it at her. Completely unnecessary behavior when my mom was just trying to relieve them of the stress of doing their job clean and professionally She has 50 years of food service and sanitation certificates a mile long. I moved to the Streeterville area a few weeks ago. There are many places you can chose for coffee. This place has personality. if you are a coffee connoisseur/junkie you will like the place. They always have many different types of coffee. I had some espresso a few days ago. I feel their sandwiches are the greatest invention since bread could be toasted...come to think they have that as well. Liked the fact that after you come a few times, they understand in their heads what you want to order. Seems like they pay attention to the customer, are nice and are not a Starbucks.
