    Banana bread matcha
    Nai N.

I absolutely love matcha, and this was my first time trying a banana bread-inspired version--it did not disappoint. The baristas were all incredibly friendly and offered great recommendations, which made the experience even better. Plus, the price for an 8 oz latte and iced matcha was very reasonable.

We came here Saturday morning for some coffee and it did not disappoint. I ordered the s'mores latte which was delicious and the rest of the group ordered the snickerdoodle latte which was also tasty but not too sweet. The shop is small but we were able to find a table right in the middle for our group of four.

Cute coffee shop in the Loop! I stopped by here during my lunch break for a caffeinated treat. I got an iced matcha oat milk latte, which had a nice matcha flavor and was not bitter in the slightest. It was unsweetened though, so keep that in mind if you prefer your drinks with a little more sugar. Overall, a decent experience and would come again.

I work right in the building but I'm always here when there's a super long line so once I saw there wasn't a line then I went right in! I know of the design studio (Firebelly Design) who branded this shop so I was already in love with the aesthetic. I'm always on the search for coffee shops that offer great matcha. This one I can add to the list! They told me straight up that their matcha is unsweetened, but they have flavors that can sweeten the drink. There's a list by the cashier. I got ended up getting hazelnut. It was tasty. It's nice that there's unsweetened matcha so if I am not feeling like sugar then I can get it without sugar. There's tons of places whose matcha is too sweet and I need to drink some water after to clear the sweet taste from my mouth. I didn't get that here! So bonus! Overall, definitely worth going to!

Dollop is an order at the counter coffee-shop with multiple locations south of the river in downtown Chicago. There are many coffee options including drips, pour-overs and an Impressive tea collection as well. I had a drip coffee which was bold enough, though I still haven't had my fantasy dark, bold, non-acidic, not too bright coffee in Chicago. My wife had the green jasmine tea which compared to the one she had yesterday which had a more jasmine/floral presence, this one was heavy on the green and not so much on the jasmine / floral. She remarked she could have just ordered a "green tea". They have Vegetarian quiche available (which excite me) along with a veggie dandwich, and a Brie Sandwich with fig jam (also enticing to me a s vegetarian), but with biscuits on the menu, that's automatically the direction I default to. I had the egg and cheddar biscuit. I asked if they could make it with egg whites and they said "no", they get the eggs this way so it was a bit disappointing to me to learn the food was essentially not made to order. It also tasted a bit-reheated which is kind of obvious to tell with biscuits. It was also too hot when I received it...the cheddar cheese on it was over-melted and didn't have much of a taste. It tasted like I was getting biscuit and egg. Cheddar on a biscuit should be not quite so melted so the cheddar flavor shines through. I'd give the place another try if I'm back in Chicago...but with so many options downtown it wouldn't be top on the go-to list.

Sausage & jam biscuit. Hard pass next time.

Yes, this Southern girl in Chicago does expect biscuits on a menu to be good. Why have so many options if they are not? The biscuit was slightly over cooked and then reheated in the microwave which created a weird chewy texture. The cheese was dripping off and I'm pretty sure it was Smuckers strawberry jam. No offense Smuckers, but you have no business being on a $7 biscuit in a city with this much good food. They also served all biscuits in a compostable clamshell even for those eating in and do not offer recycling. Pass on the biscuit. The latte was good but nothing earth shattering.

Apart from a few other things I like the vibe of this place, the interior ..the mood it gives in the first look. They have a lot of options starting from cold drinks to lunch/breakfast items....yeah you heard it right they have lunch sandwiches too. I tried Mexican Mocha(Hot) and iced matcha from this place. Mexican mocha has a lite spice touch to it and you can easily differentiate this from regular mocha. And the Matcha, I was too quick to not enquirer thoroughly about this and I ended up getting unsweetened one which of course tasted good. They have limited space for seating, high tables on the side are good for quick hangout.

    Iced lavender latte

Need a quick pick me up in the loop near the Monroe blue line? Swing by Dollop. I ordered an iced lavender latte around 3pm on a weekday and I was impressed with how fast the drink was made. The lavender flavor is very strong but that is exactly how I like it. Not that many coffee shops offer lavender so if you're looking for a good lavender latte, then look no further and bookmark Dollop. The shop itself is small with a few tables with outlets ideal for laptops. There were plenty of seats along the window which are great for meeting up with friends or for a coffee date. I personally wouldn't study or do work here given the moderate noise level and few tables available. Lighting in the shop is bright with ample natural daylight.

My favorite mocha in Chicago. You can breath in the richness of the milk after every sip. The chocolate sauce is perfectly sweet. The beans so smooth and easy to drink. Service is fast and friendly so I ended up coming here every morning while I was in town for work. Will definitely be back on future trips.

We started with a mocha, a solid, well-balanced drink that wasn't overly sweet and was just perfect. We didn't plan on eating here, but the menu was way too tempting. We ordered the cinnamon roll, and wow. This was insanely good. Most cinnamon rolls in the U.S. feel like sugar-heavy, cinnamon-flavored buns, but this one was light, flavorful, and beautifully made. The irimshik on top really elevated it, subtle, warm, and just sweet enough. Easy 10/10. Next was the cottage cheese pancake, which was also very good. It had a generous amount of cottage cheese stuffed inside, and paired with the sweet irimshik dip, the dish came together really well. 9/10. We then tried the qattama. It was good. flaky, crispy, and reminded me of a paratha. It came with a sour irimshik dip. While each component was good, I felt the qattama would shine more with a gravy-based dish. 7/10. Finally, we ordered the Nan Salma pasta. It's a tarry-based white sauce pasta with a unique flavor profile, and it was genuinely yum. Definitely something different and worth trying. Highly recommend it. 8/10. You have space to sit down and work as well. Service was good too. Some of the dishes might take 7-10mins to get prepared. It's not like your daily coffee shop who have stuff ready to go Overall, a great spot with unique food and a welcoming vibe. Definitely coming back. 9/10

First off, the staff were nice so this review does not have to do with them. It has everything to do with the atrocious, offensive liquid that they dare call coffee. When you walk in, the space is small, humid, and dirty. The tables were all sticky with drink residue and crumbs everywhere. It's the Loop so I'll give some grace but it was pretty unpleasant. We ordered the strawberry matcha and vanilla latte. The matcha came out murky green with an attempt of making it look nice with a chaotic splattering of strawberry puree/sauce (?). It tasted like it looked...trash. You might be wondering, "Well why would you order a matcha here?" And you would be correct. In my defense, you would think that if there is a drink on the menu, it would at least be somewhat good but now that I think about it, that might be too much to ask. Now to my #1 gripe, the latte. It was watery and nearly flavorless aside from the diabolical acidic taste that assaulted my tastebuds. For context, we HATE wasting food/drink; I could probably count on one hand how many times I've done that in my life. We threw away the lattes after a few forced sips; that should tell you how nasty it was. Bad coffee, bad drinks, it happens. But paying ~$8 for each drink really does rub salt in the wound. I will NEVER drink Intelligentsia coffee again. In the grand scheme of things, my review doesn't matter but if I can warn at least one other person about the atrocities this company commits to coffee/matcha, then maybe it will make up for the waste of money & time I spent here.

Specifically, at The Loop's Egg Tuck, they use Korean Beef instead of the "Signature Beef Patty." While I cannot vouch for the latter, I can tell you that the former is absolutely amazing!!! The tortilla they use is also solid enough to hold the contents of the burrito until the last bite, which is a rarity nowadays as more and more places skimp on solid products.
