Made a special trip this morning to get sone chocolate frosted twists. I've had them before and they were fantastic. Got to the store around 630am and the only items they had ready was a single tray of half glazed and have glazed chocolate frosted. I asked about the twists and was told it would be an hour. I went ahead and got two donuts which were good but I can't imagine a business opening up without having some of each product ready. read more

Wow, what a horrible experience. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I walked in looking to taste some old fashioned doughnuts only to be greeted by one nasty lady. I said Good Morning and she replied with a loud disgruntled sigh. I asked if she had some twist doughnuts which she replied No and then walked away. This place is so over passed in Laurel. This place is of course a doughnut joint but they sell the best mini burgers (aka sliders). The meat is steamed and well seasoned topped with onions, catsup, mustard and pickles. You can also add bacon if that's your thing. The bun is so soft which sets these burgers up oh so nice. They also sell breakfast and subs as well. The doughnut I tried was the simple glazed twisty. It was good soft and fresh ; very sweet. So go check em out! read more

A tiny little shack, hidden on a one way street in downtown Laurel. If you weren't looking for it, you'd never find them. Thank god for GPS. The folks inside were friendly and making up the sliders and burgers on their flattop right in front as I walked in, so it was a no-brainer to grab some for lunch. I also couldn't resist the donuts, because they're A) delicious and B) FREAKING HUGE. The Boston Creme I got was seriously the size of my fist, and I have BIG hands. For a sack of burgers and a half dozen donuts to take home with me, I spent just over $10. Well worth it, and totally a place to try if you're in the area. read more

Closest thing I have found to my beloved Montgomery Donuts that I can get near my home in HoCo. They are usually fresh and buttery, with just enough icing to not overwhelm the donut's flavor. Very yummy but coffee was not that good. If you are a donut shop, IMHO, your coffee should be above average. Also, parking was weird. Except that this place doesn't have great donuts. They're OK. They're small (which could be a good thing) but they aren't what I would put on any list. I've been on a quest for good, non-pretentious cafe donuts. In the DC area, the "best" donuts are either too tough, too biscuit-like, tasted like whatever else they fried in the oil or the usual Dunkin Donuts (boo). I'm beginning to venture out of the city and I am very well rewarded. You can tell the second you walk into a donut shop if the donuts are good. This shop had that quality. Not having the best customer service at a donut shop is a good thing, too. Their coffee is better than a lot of DC area coffee shops! Their donuts are either soft and airy, or soft and crumbly, and they melt in your mouth. Sooo good. They didn't have old-fashioned cake donuts when I went, so I'm not sure if they sell them, because that is my basis for comparison and my favorite overall donut. My only complaint is that the glazed donuts are a bit too sweet (so sweet you can feel texture developing on your teeth after the first donut). It's a good thing it's a bit of a trek to go. If it were any closer, I think I would have diabetes. read more

Great donuts! Bought a dozen for 6 frat boys who were friends of my boyfriend's lil bro and they inhaled them. The donuts are almost as good as Alpha Donuts in Queens, NY or Peter Pan's in Brooklyn! So they tricked me! I thought I was going to get some old fashioned famous donuts and it turned out to be a Chinese takeover!!! I got no problem with the Chinese takeover but at least put that on the sign, or outside on a banner owned and operated by new management!!! This was not what I thought but it was a nice cheap breakfast sandwich shop! It was two elderly Chinese ladies making breakfast sandwiches. It was like an old New York City whole in the wall kind of joint. 3.50 for egg, sausage, and cheese on wheat. The lady kinda seemed annoyed at my presence but I'm use to that vibe I'm from New Jersey. She reluctantly took my order and it came out pretty quick. The food was good but I never got a donut and that was always in the back of my mind. The donuts that were there were old and dusty looking like it was an afterthought. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here but if I'm in the area and need a quick bite o would go here before McDonald's. I was ok my way to Columbia Maryland, and yelped donuts. Tavern donuts popped up, so I have it a try. The donuts are not fancy. They look like your typical donuts. There wasn't very much left, so I wish I would have gotten there sooner to see the other varieties. Anyways, I got a dozen for about $9, so it's fairly reasonable compared other places. One single donut is 79 cents Don't let the look of the donut fool you! You know how some donut places sell donuts that taste like bread or it's not as fluffy or soft? Well, this place has soft- fluffy donuts- I took a bite out of the white sugared coconut frosting one, and it was soooo soft! I was surprised that's the donut was so soft!!!! It almost tasted like krispy kreme! I was very happy, and I tried the other donuts in the box and they were all consistent. I've been wanting to check this place out in Historic Laurel, but we always drive up that way in the evening. Yesterday we made a stop after brunch to grab some donuts to take home. Very quaint interior in a cute, small shop. Was surprised at all the breakfast sandwiches and platters offered! The morning rush must have cleaned out some of the donut selection, but I got a sugar donut (my fave), two glazed chocolate twists and a Boston creme for tea later. Surprisingly enough I didnt try the donuts...but it was breakfast time and I was craving sustinance. I got the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. It is could you see me standing there and they casually come to the door to say nothing is ready. So does the sign on the door that says you open at 6 not mean you have anything ready. read more

Laurel Tarven has an awesome collection of donuts. They sell pretty much any kind of donut you would expect from a donut shop. Plus they taste light and delicious. However it is hard to get donuts after 1am. But it's worth waking up early ! They also sell the Little Tarven special mini burgers which are amazing. 3 mini burgers for the price of $3 sounds reasonable too. read more

The donuts are simply amazing here. Theres so much more flavor in every bite compared to their counterparts. For example, each bite of a glazed donut melts in your mouth. Although the customer service needs some improvement, that does not stop me from nabbing me a dozen everyday. Other than donuts, they sell these really cute mini burgers that hearken back to the good ol' days of Little tavern burgers. You do have to wait for the burgers to cook, but the wait is well worth it. I cannot stress enough how amazing the burgers are.
