This is located across from the 7-11 in Laurel in a weird, neglected shopping center with very little fanfare or attention or decor. The interior is small but has a great array of cakes, cupcakes, pastries, donuts, and other baked goods. The customer service was lackadaisical and off-putting, like I was bothering the employee for asking relevant questions about their items. I ordered two slices of cake to go, a grand marnier and a milk chocolate/white chocolate mix. They both tasted dry, unflavorful, and frankly not worth the $5.99 each. Boxed Duncan Hines cakes are better than this; truly a disappointing experience. I was so excited to try them because they looked incredibly delicious and well presented in the bakery! Saw this bakery when stopping by another place in the same area. I checked Yelp and saw several great reviews on it so I put it on my bucket list of places to try. One of my favorite places to visit. Good baked goods especially cake is my all time weakness. Nothing like a really good bakery which are few and hard to find. Finally made the visit recently. Greeted nicely upon entering. A nice appealing display of baked goods and good selections to choose from especially individual slice cakes. Bakery itself is cute and quaint. Nothing fancy. I decided to try the cookies since they had one of my favorite - coconut cookies( reg. ones not macaroons). See pics. I also decided to get a few others kinds to get an idea if it's worth coming back. Verdict - yes it is! The coconut cookie had a nice light coconut flavor nothing over powering with a delicate crisp. Nothing to crunchy or too soft. The other ones with rainbow sprinkles and also half chocolate coated with chocolate sprinkles had a light butter flavor with a delicate crisp. Then the apricot dot filling in the center also the same. All good and recommended. Prices are reasonable and standard for baked goods. Since I liked them so much I went back two days later for more and decided to try there custard filled and also a apple pastry. The girl working there said the pastry was soft but my experience was different. It was much crunchier than I thought and too bland for my liking. The Apple had a cinnamon sugar like sprinkled on top which adds a little flavor but still a naw for me. I've had these before at other bakeries so I'm familiar with what they're usually like. Lots of other things to try and several that I like very much so it won't stop me from coming. I recommend you do too. There full size cakes look really good. I look forward to trying when I had the occasion for needing one. Next visit will be to try the different slice cakes. Look out for my next review. Just stopped in for jannet's birthday cake! Called ahead to see if they had one available and showed up a bit later to pick it out. One of the best mango cakes around! I order 8" cakes from Flowers pretty regularly for birthdays at my office. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, they always get my order right, and the cakes are a big hit with everyone who tries them. Personally, I also like the milk teas, iced coffee, assorted cookies, pain au chocolat, and some of the panderia treats. Overall, this is a great local gem. Definitely check them out. read more

Flower bakery is one of my very best baker ever however i normally go to layhill location or takoma park location. This location is pretty small compare to the other 2 locations that i "regularly" go to but i had to come to this location to pick up a cake for a party that was in laurel area.. The quality of the cake is as good as the other 2 location( i think they all get it from the main location). The store is pretty clean and staff had mask on, there were marks on floor of 6ft distance.. Staff are really friendly and helpful .. read more

Tatiana was a wonderful blessing! She was friendly and attentive. The baked goods and the drinks were fun to choose. Teas, coffees, smoothies, and different add ins like chewy tapioca balls and fun popping bubbles of flavor like peach and mango. The specialty cakes , pastries, and cookies are beautifully presented and makes everything look delicious! We had a milk tea and a mango smoothie with mango bubbles. And we had a coconut topped cookie and strawberry cheese danish. Next time I want to get a coconut smoothie with tapioca balls and a mango cake slice. read more

So glad we found this place! We got a slice of strawberry cheesecake and chocolate cake. Both were delicious, but the chocolate slice was one of the best I've had in a very long time! I would definitely recommend it!! They had a great variety of cakes, cookies, and other pastries. The pricing on everything was very reasonable, too! I purchased a birthday cake from Flowers Bakery in Laurel. I asked that the cake have "Maxine Happy 70th Birthday Hallelujah" written on the top. The cake was decorated beautifully, but the writing was on the cardboard platter, not on the cake, did not include my name and Hallelujah was badly misspelled. I pointed this out when I picked it up and asked for a discount. The clerk offered $3 on a $140 cake. When we served the cake, it was very dry. I called the owner the next day. She offered nothing--no refund nor even an apology--except that the cake was dry because it had buttercream frosting. read more

I stopped here on my way home two weeks ago. I was craving something sweet, hadn't heard of Flowers before, but gave it a try. The cake I bought was delicious. It was very moist; very tasty. The cookie I bought was a bit dry. I felt that it may not have been as fresh as I would have liked. Overall, I received good customer service, and the cakes were delicious. read more

I've never had one of their cakes, but I called to ask if they make cakes with whipped cream frosting. The woman said yes, but only strawberry shortcake or mixed fruit shortcake. I asked if they could just make the cake with whipped cream icing without including any fruit, and she said "no." Seems like this isn't a "can't do it" as much as it is a "won't do it." The woman on the phone even said, "we get a lot of requests for this but we already know to tell people the answer is no." If there's a reason it CAN'T be done, they should tell you. Otherwise, this doesn't make sense. read more
