A great place to come for breakfast. This was my first time back here in quite a number of years and first time after the renovations. My friend and I both ordered the eggs and chorizo with home fries. The sausage was phenomenal. Both my wife and my friend's fiance ordered pancakes. My wife's pancakes were fluffy and flavorful. Just amazing. If you are a pancake lover, this place is a must. Service was great. Our server was always coming around and very friendly. this restaurant doesn't care about enforcing mask policy. managers, waiters and delivery personnel either wear no mask or wear it below the nose claiming the masks are too loose. nor do the require patrons indoors to wear masks, they are served regardless! when i told the counter waiter he needs to wear mask above his nose, his response was we follow cdc guidelines. cdc doesn't say to wear below nose. delivery man came in and out 3 times, no mask inside. a customer right near the register was not wearing a mask and your cashier shrugged. so your doing something right but not nearly enough. read more

One of my favorite diners for brunch. The portions are big and the food is very good. I typically get the corned beef hash which Laurels falls as one of my favorite CBH around. I know they are remodeling now but my friend Steve J. and I have been going there for (mostly) breakfast for years. I had family visiting me from the city and hadn't been to this diner since the Pandemic started but remember the food and service being good. However I was taken aback about how inappropriate the wait staff was dressed...all the woman where wearing leggings some you could see pantilines through and the shirts were too small. The owners need to have a dress code implemented that the staff needs to abide by because it takes away from the experience. Other than that everything was fine. read more

Just left this nice diner in Long Beach. When we arrived (a Sunday at lunch time), there was a line to enter, which is always the sign of a good place. The hostess told us it would take us 15 minutes, and it actually took less than that. The food was delicious and the portions large. This place was hopping when we arrived! We waited for almost 15 minutes before being seated. We were in six and my wife and I preferred to dine with the children. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup as an appetizer. A great start to a wonderful meal. This was followed by a seafood platter. The waiter explained that the platter was for one, however, it would be best if we split it. My wife and I followed his suggestion and were glad that we did! The fish was fresh and abundant just like the chicken parm sandwich and hamburger platters ordered by the children. I highly recommend this diner. Very nice staff, food was gross. Turkey burger has very funny smell and taste. I ate it and the entire time I was thinking "I hope I don't get sick from this". Also there was a huge rainstorm today, understandably the roof was leaking. What was concerning was the buckets of dirty water that seemed unnecessarily left sprawled out all over the place, that if the person placing them spent a few more moments they could have made it less obtrusive. I have both eaten in at this diner and ordered food to go. Today my boyfriend and I picked up an order for lunch. We got a chicken salad sandwich and Greek wrap with chicken. The food was good but this is the fourth or fifth time I have ordered a wrap or plate with chicken and there is very little chicken included - next to none. I know prices of things are going up, but I do not mind paying more if the item is not going to be skimped on. I've enjoyed their food in the past, but recently they have disappointed, especially when I order for delivery. Tonight I ordered a rare bleu cheese burger with waffle fries and a diet coke. Diner done right. Long Beach residents need look no further than Laurel Diner. Portions are generous, prices are fair and the food is consistently good. Servers may not always be the most engaging, but they get your order right and get it to you quickly. As is expected with a diner, burgers and breakfast items will be your go to. Have a bunch of spins on these items, but personal favorites are the long horn burger and the french toast (with eggs, and maybe bacon, and maybe sausage, and maybe too much maple syrup/butter -- sorrynotsorry). Interior is classic, always clean and very appealing -- always love sitting down in this place for a comfort meal or a late night snack. P.S. Could do without your staff cleaning the mats right on the sidewalk (reason I am docking a star combined with staff engagement). My 200th review and of course this Jew is using it on a Long Beach diner. I wouldn't have it any other way. Laurel is the way a diner should be. A large menu of fairly inexpensive fare to satisfy your every craving no matter what hour of the day. I visited on two separate occasions because I couldn't just settle on one amazing breakfast choice so I had to come back. The nutella stuffed french toast was incredible and so filling. I also had an apple waffle that was to die for. They also have home-made muffins including orange cranberry that were incredibly moist and delicious which I wasn't expecting.
