Pastrami Reuben with Russian dressing
Zac G.

In business since 1932, Laurel Diner is a classic diner in almost every sense. It's spacious and boisterous with striped booths that exude retro charm. The menu is appreciably huge, boasting everything from breakfast to sandwiches to pastas and much, much, more. About the only thing here that doesn't recall a bygone era is the pricing, which is high even by 21st-century Long Island standards. Laurel does at least offer rather generous portions (plus free coleslaw and pickles), but the food is nothing special. I went with a pastrami Reuben and a side salad in place of fries. The sandwich satisfied a craving though the meat was a bit chewy. It feels almost blasphemous, but I can get a better version down in North Carolina for about half the $20-plus cost. To Laurel's credit, the staff were at least attentive and accommodating. For those who grew up with diners like this or simply want a lot of options to choose from, Laurel Diner holds a certain appeal. Remove nostalgia from the equation, however, and it offers neither particularly good food nor a good value.

3 Alarm Fries
Irene C.

Came on a Wednesday at peak dinner time so it was super packed. The interior is cute and is your typical retro diner, but I was majorly disappointed by the food. Starting with the 3 alarm fries, the cheese was barely melted (don't be fooled by the ranch dressing on top) so it was basically just ranch fries mixed with slices of american cheese and jalapeños. Not that crispy and rather meh. The spaghetti and meatballs was just mildly flavored tomato sauce with what felt like reheated frozen meatballs. We ordered 2 all-american burgers and a "The Duke" burger - all 3 weren't really cooked to the right degree. Mine was meant to be medium rare and was slightly medium rare in some parts but mostly was more medium, and the ones meant to be medium were mostly medium well. The All American is your typical burger on paper but it's rather dry and also very mediocre. Honestly, nothing tasted particularly good or flavorful so giving it a 2/5 and I wouldn't recommend :(

Cookies & Cream milkshake

The staff was friendly and helpful. The waitress offered sauces, checked in with us, and was helpful in helping us decide on our orders. The diner was bright with lots of windows. Starting off, the Soup du Jour (Chicken Noodle Soup) was hot and made me feel nostalgic. The Seafood Platter had huge portions of creamed spinach, sweet potato fries, and fried fish. It was my first time trying fried scallops, but it was amazing. All the fried seafood had a good crisp. The Cookies and Cream milkshake with additional thickness came with an extra cup of milkshake to the side, which was so nice. Dipping the sweet potato fries in the milkshake made them taste almost like funnel cake.

Sunset Santorini salad

I ordered the Sunset Santorini salad it was so perfect The combination of the feta walnuts and fig glaze is so delicious on its own. It didn't need the grilled chicken on it.

Arugula Salad with Salmon - 09/01/2024

This is a 5 star diner! Impeccably clean with updated seating. They sell candy in the front which is cute and nostalgic- I ended up buying two individual york peppermint patties my daughter's favorite for a quarter each. Me and my husband both had salads which were so fresh and delicious and huge! I feel embarrassed that I ate all of mine! Service was on point and friendly. You can't go wrong coming here - this is the second time I came to this diner based on my first experience. This time was better than before. I had an arugula salad with salmon and the salmon was cooked perfectly crunchy on the outside and drizzled with my favorite balsamic vinegar. The slivered almonds mixed with the arugula made it heaven. Who says eating healthy can't be delicious! My husband's cobb salad with blue cheese looked delicious his chicken was cooked well and not dry. Keep up the good work Laurel Diner you have a fan! I will be coming to visit everytime I visit lovely Long Beach!

Retro Interior

What a great, fun and delicious experience! This retro diner has such a great throwback feel and thrilled they kept so much of its original design. Food was great, service was even better! Such nice, accommodating people working here! The plates were huge! The food was tasty, fresh and plentiful! Looking forward to returning to try more!

There must be a table attendant doing rounds every so often. The dining room is pretty big and very attractive. I interacted with the guys making the pizza, they were a bunch of jokers who knew how to make their customers laugh and enjoy the moment. Engaging with one person, I was able to share my experience of Barrier Brewery, and he shared his as well. upon leaving one of the workers acquiesced with my decision to have a slice, split in half. That gesture was very kind. I had my fill with pizza for the night, so I did eat the slice that was split into 2 pieces` in order to provide a precise review. That ZA was delicious with a mild marinara sauce everyone enjoyed. I can eat this ZA without it affecting me and this was not a thin crust; it was a regular crust. Honestly speaking, this was an 'mmm' slice. When you bite into it, you go mm because it's that good. I would love to come back but by the time I get home, it would be cold unless I invested in a pizza warmer bag. This was a good night,... Inspire more, Yelp more

Our waitress made us feel completely comfortable we were laughing, having side conversations, and genuinely enjoying ourselves all night. By the end of the evening, she even said, "Goodnight, love you!" and quickly laughed saying she didn't mean to say it. That pretty much summed up the vibe of the night friendly, relaxed, and memorable. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the Caesar salad appetizer, which was very good, and my sister had the calamari, which she said was excellent. For our entrées, we both ordered the chicken parmesan with alavaca sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. To finish the night, we shared the crème brûlée for dessert, and it was the perfect treat. The portion is definitely big enough for two people, so I wouldn't recommend ordering one per person. The location is beautiful and right by the water true to the restaurant's name. The only small thing to note is the parking. There are two parking lots, and the first one is definitely the better option. The second lot leads closer to the waterfront entrance and can feel a little tight and snug when parking. Overall, we had an amazing time and would absolutely go back. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service.

Compared to the farmingdale location the ambiance of this one is giving forgotten step sister aside from the back table(pictured on the website)they did up very nicely. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very sweet and managed a basically full bar attending to every guest with care. We ordered the Italian nachos which we loved and the Picasso. The nachos had a generous amount of crumbled sausage cheese and bruschetta as well as some spicy peppers. We really enjoyed the nachos. The Picasso was a nice size, but the sandwich lacked a little seasoning and needed a little more balsamic. It felt kind of dry. For cocktails we got the strawberry lemon drop, it tasted a little medicinal and the cucumber lime spritz type drink(I can't recall the exact name). This one was very good. An overall very mixed experience but I want to give it another shot even if only for the nachos
