A great place to come for breakfast. This was my first time back here in quite a number of years and first time after the renovations. My friend and I both ordered the eggs and chorizo with home fries. The sausage was phenomenal. Both my wife and my friend's fiance ordered pancakes. My wife's pancakes were fluffy and flavorful. Just amazing. If you are a pancake lover, this place is a must. Service was great. Our server was always coming around and very friendly. Great diner!! First time here. My boyfriend said he has been coming here since a child. I got scrambled eggs with sausage and rye bread. The sausage was great because they were big links. Just left this nice diner in Long Beach. When we arrived (a Sunday at lunch time), there was a line to enter, which is always the sign of a good place. The hostess told us it would take us 15 minutes, and it actually took less than that. The food was delicious and the portions large. We have plenty of leftovers, which we brought home and are looking forward to having them for dinner. It is definitely a venue we will return to. read more

I know they are remodeling now but my friend Steve J. and I have been going there for (mostly) breakfast for years. Rarely a wait on Thursday mornings, the food is always consistent, hot and delicious. The wait staff is great and attentive and I can't wait for the "new" Laurel. Enjoy. It's great. UPDATE! I've got a huge love for Diner food, so when my cousin and I couldn't get anything from a local bar, we came here. Loved it. The atmosphere is kind of old school? Which I'm big into because it's just got such a classic vibe to it. Real friendly place, we went late so it wasn't super packed. Also it was a Wednesday so who goes to a diner on a Wednesday? Very nice staff, food was gross. Turkey burger has very funny smell and taste. I ate it and the entire time I was thinking "I hope I don't get sick from this". Also there was a huge rainstorm today, understandably the roof was leaking. What was concerning was the buckets of dirty water that seemed unnecessarily left sprawled out all over the place, that if the person placing them spent a few more moments they could have made it less obtrusive. Coming from the diner capital of the world, New Jersey, I was very happy about this place. Very clean and nicely decorated inside. Coffee was good. Staff was nice and our waiter came by often. I'm a breakfast person so my friend & I were happy with our Saturday morning meal. Pricing is fair. MAYBE my only gripe was hoping for more home fries & the omelette a bit bigger. I definitely recommend this diner over the other one across the street any day. Update Sept 17th. I gave this place a 2nd chance and I have the same comments as above. So, I won't be going back for breakfast. BUT, I am happy with their dinners and portions. I'll definitely be coming back for dinner time. AND they're open until Midnight on weekends. I have both eaten in at this diner and ordered food to go. Today my boyfriend and I picked up an order for lunch. We got a chicken salad sandwich and Greek wrap with chicken. The food was good but this is the fourth or fifth time I have ordered a wrap or plate with chicken and there is very little chicken included - next to none. I know prices of things are going up, but I do not mind paying more if the item is not going to be skimped on. Usually diners give large portions so I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'd order something different in the future. read more

They delivered a well done American cheese burger with onion rings and no drink at all. Fascinating. They screwed up every single aspect possible. Diner done right. Long Beach residents need look no further than Laurel Diner. Portions are generous, prices are fair and the food is consistently good. Servers may not always be the most engaging, but they get your order right and get it to you quickly. As is expected with a diner, burgers and breakfast items will be your go to. Have a bunch of spins on these items, but personal favorites are the long horn burger and the french toast (with eggs, and maybe bacon, and maybe sausage, and maybe too much maple syrup/butter -- sorrynotsorry). Interior is classic, always clean and very appealing -- always love sitting down in this place for a comfort meal or a late night snack. P.S. Could do without your staff cleaning the mats right on the sidewalk (reason I am docking a star combined with staff engagement). I am fine with dirt being produced, but would love to not be stepping through it. You guys should probably take this one out back. read more

We love this diner. It's bright and funky with a 50's motif, food is consistently good and portions are huge. The turkey sandwich, enough for 2 people. The French fries that came with the sandwich were thick and perfectly crisp. The new cinnabun pancakes were creative and delicious. Great food and good service. We came without a reservation on a Saturday morning around 9 am. They were able to seat us (a table of 6) outside. They quickly set up our table and gave us menus and water right away. The food was served as it was ready. All meals had been served within 20 mins. The food was delicious, cooked right, and were large portions. All 6 of us were very satisfied with our breakfasts and the service. Inside was clean and the restrooms were sanitary. Mediocre is a stretch. Breakfast this morning: burnt coffee, awful whole wheat pancakes with bananas (I wanted them on top, not in the pancakes, and should have stated that). We dined in here with a large group during the pandemic and felt very safe, as the tables were adequately spaced and the servers were wearing masks. You can often judge a restaurant's quality by the freshness of the salads. Mine was very fresh and crisp! All the dishes were great and the portions were generous. They even accommodated my food-allergy special order. Most importantly, service was attentive and excellent. Our amazing server even made sure we ordered kids sizes for the kids, when I didn't know it was an option. The portions were more than adequate and all the kids had a great time. Very family friendly. In defense of this business for the "racist" accusation in a previous review, we are not white and were treated very respectfully here. Our server also was not white. Everyone we dealt with was very kind, white and nonwhite. Can people just people these days? Can they have reasons for choosing not to deliver somewhere because it's been deemed too risky and not because they're racist? If they chose to never deliver to your area because your area is 100% minority and if they deliver to other areas where there is only a 100% majority, that's racist. That isn't the case. If their reason is because by experience they've made a choice to protect their workers, that's not racist. If I choose not to accept $100 bills anymore because I keep getting fraudulent ones, am I discriminating against people who only carry $100 bills? If I request ID for credit cards because too many people use fake cards, am I discriminating? Be logical and don't attack a good family business unfairly. read more

The wait staff knew everyone names and orders (as they informed me most people were regulars) I love that you can tell this is a community place! The breakfast special isn't too bad either: 2 eggs, toast, home fries, coffee or tea, a short glass of juice for under $7 yes please.
