Found Laughing Planet one night after a local event that was by UNR as online said it was open late - woot woot!! Found parking on nearby Tenth & Virginia went inside but it looked like they were closing for the night, totallyyy bummed we started to head out. An employee popped out from the back asked if we were ready to order, so to our surprise and delight we were happy to realize they were still open and confirmed by them - we asked if we get a moment to look over the menu. We looked over the menu, grabbed a table and decided on the Korean BBQ Beef Bowl plus an order of chips with side of guacamole and for drinks Kombucha and Lemonade. Staff was friendly, helpful but unfortunately as we sat and sat wondering where are order of chips with guacamole wandered off in the completely empty restaurant - they had just forgotten that we had even ordered drinks or chips & guac...hence my minus 2 stars. The Korean BBQ Beef Bowl fixed our hunger pangs being deLISH, healthy and we would eat it again should we pop into Laughing Planet for a late-night healthy food option.

It's no laughing matter that we all need more plant friendly options to save our planet and our health, and Laughing Planet delivers that on many accounts. We ordered online for pickup which was super easy and convenient. The website allows you to fully customize your order too without needing to ask at the cashier, especially if there is a line. Our dinner consisted of the Sumac Salad ($11.50) w/o feta, and was a delicious blend of kale, spinach, crispy chickpeas, green applies, quinoa, raisins, and olives. The vinaigrette they used was very refreshing and I'd definitely order this again. We also had their Black bean Hummus ($5.50) which was a good, carby side, and their Tempeh Royale ($9.75) which was a solid burrito that can easily be shared with someone. The salad was my favorite but everything was good overall.

I love the laid-back vibe and casual bar seating almost as much as their decor. My most recent visit was with my cousin from out of town and her children and of course myself and my children; we had a party of 7. The kids were impressed with their chicken quesadillas and beans. My cousin and I ordered two chicken bowls, and my kids ordered two orders of their salsa and queso with chips and bean and cheese burritos. Some time had lapsed since my last visit there, but my tasebuds were overwhelmed with all of the fresh flavors in our bowls. We ordered cookies for the kids to eat on the way back to my car. If you're looking for a local spot for lunch in Midtown, check it out. They offer a more vegan and paleo friendly menu, and they don't dig too deep into your pockets. Although it took a while for us to even order, I knew our food would be worth it. There were food delivery drivers waiting by the bar and a full line behind us. There was only one girl running and trying to aid everyone. We felt for her. She was doing her best! They gave us our drinks, chips, and queso for the long wait. We came in during the normal work week and caught their lunch rush. I recommend ordering ahead if you're pushed for time. If you have time, enjoy this cool restaurant or get some sun on the patio.

I was in Reno, NV for a business trip and unfortunately the food that was served at the event I was attending was not vegetarian friendly... Due to this, I did a little research and happened to find Laughing Planet Cafe which was about a 15-minute walk from the event center. I am SO GLAD I found this place!! The food was incredible! I hesitated slightly when I ordered the Vegetable Quesadilla as it included carrots and cauliflower - something that I wouldn't think to put in a quesadilla... But the combination of vegetables plus the queso fresco and their house made green sauce was beyond perfect!! I ate the entire thing and could've probably eaten more. They were low on fruits for the smoothies, so I ended up going with the Mango Banana that's typically a kinds menu item because they ran out of peaches for the Mango Peach that I wanted to try. Nevertheless, it was equally delicious! Also, the service was fantastic! This place is counter-service and the guy behind the counter on this day was doing basically everything himself, but was friendly the entire time and handled it all with grace. Much appreciated!! Y'all be sure to stop by and support this local business!! I know I will if I ever end up in Reno, NV again.

I was craving something healthy and fresh and this restaurant was recommended. I ordered the Highway to Kale salad with chicken added and wasn't disappointed. The salad consisted of kale, carrots, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, queso fresco and a lemon-parsley vinaigrette. It was exactly what I needed! Very light and filled with fresh ingredients. I do think the chicken could have looked more appetizing but it was fine. Cashier who took our order was very helpful. They have outside seating available as well as interior.

This place was just what I needed. Healthy, quick, clean, not super expensive, lots of vegetarian and gluten free options and the smoothie was so good and refreshing. They had a lot of daily specials also This place is on the corner across from the university, two story historic building, lots of windows to look out. It looks like they also have live music nights. Chic interior. Parking is a bit of a struggle. But overall really glad we came here. I got the crunchero, mango peach lemon smoothie and chips and salsa. It was tasty!

mango smoothie & chicken bbq casadilla

Drink we could not finish, in my opinion it was overwelmingly lemonady with an odd texture and though i can appreciate fruity chunks in a smoothie we found a waxy seedlike booger thing in it. quesadilla ingredients were very good but the breading was soaked/damp- overall unappealing. some of their burrito options are good tho- would recommend the tempeh royale.

What an awesome healthy dining option! We went mid afternoon so there was only one other couple there at the time. It is seat yourself with TONS of seating options. The ambiance is very eclectic, with fun and interesting decor. The food was DELICIOUS!! I personally had the Bollywood bowl - I cannot rave enough about the coconut curry sauce that came on it. Dining in was just fine, but the lack of a lively environment is why it didn't get 5 stars for me, but their food was all incredible and an also great takeout option for lunch.

This place is perfect if you want healthy! Great atmosphere and the guy that helped us was very nice. I did ask for no cilantro and well I got HELLA cilantro on my bowl. Whatever I picked it off but it's that attention to detail. I would not sit out back because it's infested with small bugs, flying into your face and hair. Other than those two things it was a nice place! I'd never go to this location again because it's impossible to find parking as it's right across from the University. Great spot for students if you ask me. The prices were good too!

I had tried a few restaurants before finally feasting at Laughing Planet. I was in town visiting a friend, and can't thank them enough for pointing me to the best crunch wrap supreme something I could have ever met. Order the crunchero now and thank me later.

Competent but unimpressive. Very fancy vegan sorts of offerings but the execution is fairly mundane and definitely not worth the money.

This is a true "mom & pop" restaurant where you can tell the food is made to order with love, truly unique flavors. We tried the burrito with mushroom walnut meat, the El jefe plate with asada (soy based) and the chilaquiles with nopalli (cactus). Large portions and all very delicious, chilaquiles was my favorite. The sad part was that after eight years in business this was the first time we were trying it and we were the only ones in the restaurant. We got the following: 4 Tacos - Mushroom Walnut Meat. In my opinion, the better of the two meals. Burrito - Also with Mushroom Walnut Meat; I guess we have similar tastes?!?! I am a light eater, but the burrito was smaller than expected. Decent flavors, but the salsa was needed. The salsa had a very slight kick. I also had to ask for a second salsa. Sadly, even as a light eater, I left hungry... For plant based food, I have learned that I actually need to eat a lot to get full. Or I will just have to eat a few hours later... So sadly when I got home (after also going to Zephyr Wine Bar), I ate half a bag of chips and 5 leftover chicken wings from Fire Wings... There goes that healthy eating! What a failure today. Atmosphere - Small clean local business. Only one other customer was here when we got here. Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of mall parking. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 7pm, closed Mondays. Service - Just okay. The mom of the owner got us everything we asked for. Price - $30 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2018 and with such a high Yelp rating. I also noticed that my two Yelp Friends gave you 3 stars...

We were given a choice where we wanted to sit. Water and menus were brought right away. Kenyon our server, took drink orders and on returning took our meal orders. Overall service was good and our satisfaction was checked. I had the Tiger Prawns and Grits. My best beloved had Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Both were very generous portions. The prawns were very good. The grits were a bit runny (I prefer dryer grits) but tasty. My husband said the chicken tasted good, but was a bit overcooked. We shared a Tiramisu for dessert. We felt the food was good, but nothing swoon worthy considering the price. The atmosphere is cozy, but did not feel closterphobic. Is it worth a return visit? Yes.

The pretzel was soft, fresh, and warm, and the cheese spread was rich and flavorful -- a perfect combo. For entrées, we ordered the Schweineschnitzel and the Rauch Hänchen. The schnitzel was excellent -- tender, flavorful, and cooked just right -- but the smoked/fried chicken drumsticks completely stole the show. Hands down some of the best fried chicken I've ever had.
