Nice spot in Greenlake. They have a nice selection of local beers on tap with a lot from Bellingham breweries. I had a tasty red from Bellingham. For dinner I had the portobello mushroom sandwich. It was really tasty. It had goat cheese and onions on it. The goat cheese was what made it especially tasty. It came with a large side salad. I always love it when a salad isn't just plain boring iceberg lettuce. It also had a very tasty light vinaigrette dressing. I would stop by again sometime. read more

Don't let the location and the appearance fool you. This place serves some yummy gourmet bar food! The space is small so it can get busy during the weekends, so expect to wait. I wouldn't recommend coming here in large groups. My bf and I came here around dinner time and we ended up waiting for about 45 minutes! We just waited by a bar next door for a table to open. I've tried both the portobello mushroom sandwich and a bite of the grilled cheese, and they were both surprisingly flavorful. Last time I had one of their soup specials that had a potato base with bits of bacon in it, and it was very tasty. I ordered it with a salad mix that came with apple pieces, candied walnuts and blue cheese. Loved it! The tomato bisque soup also pairs well with the grilled cheese sandwich. They also have happy hour with lots of beers on tap. According to their calendar, they play happy hour jazz every Friday from 5-7pm. Tough place to rate. Great beer and food. Cozy little North Wallingford/East Greenlake location next to Mona's. The waitstaff's bedside matter had a lot to be desired. Every time they would stop by our table to refill a drink order, they would only ask for ONE person's drink order before leaving. Weird. Then we had this super hairy check splitting fiasco which granted, having been a waitress before I know that can be super annoying. Lovely atmosphere with wood accents and a high ceiling. Especially nice in the spring when the daylight is beginning to stretch out and you can enjoy a beer next the extra large windows. Excellent brew list. I am allergic to hops so I am always on the lookout for good cider choices and Latona Pub did not disappoint. I had a rum-barrel aged cider that was really, really good. Food was fine - but a PUB that servers burgers but no fries? That just baffles me. Our server forgot to put in my order so I was left waiting, but to make up for it he comped not only my food but one of my ciders as well. Classy move. Latona gets five stars from me because they execute what they do perfectly. If you are looking for a delicious sandwich or burger and a tasty beer, the Latona Pub is a great place. I highly recommend both the Latona Burger and the Black Bean Burger. At first I was skeptical that the burgers come with a salad instead of fries, but it turns out, you don't need the fries! It's the perfectly satisfying portion with the salad. The grilled cheese is also amazing because it's on thick slabs of delicious bread. The fresh-baked bread pushes the sandwiches here over the top. The rotating beer menu is also nice. There is always something interesting to try, and the staff are helpful if you just ask what is good. read more

It's a no frills bar that's just about food and beer. When you go, get something on a bun. Whatever you like on a bun, get it. I have lived in Green Lake for over 6 years and can't believe tonight is the first time I have been to Latona Pub. Big mistake on my part because this cool little gem is less than a mile away from my house. Great cozy atmosphere, excellent menu with delicious large salads and lots of comfort food, kick ass local beer selections with a full bar to fall back on, attentive service, and parking was pretty easy on a weeknight. I am pretty sure LP just became a permanent staple on my "grab a beer and a bite in the hood" list. The best part about tonight? I fell in love with Roger....or at least his Pilsner. ;) I heart Georgetown Brewery even more now. Stay tuned for my next review....I might just have to jump to make them a 5 star! read more

I never went to the Hopvine because the service was so bad, but Latona Pub is totally worth a stop. Deeeelicious portobello burger, really nice dark green salad on the side. Super quality bun. w0w. The service at Latona is as casual as the pub is--it's a tee and cut-offs place, so go with those expectations. Went here for the first time with a colleague the other night, and from outside I expected kind of a run of the mill experience. The decor wasn't particularly nice (some of the art is cool, but there's no flow or logic in my opinion) and it seemed like it'd be too bright to be comfortable. I almost suggested we go to the darker bar next door, but as he suggested this place, I conceded. Boy am I glad I did. The beer list had really quality brews, even if not a very vast selection. I was hesitant to order food, since it is pretty expensive, but I went for the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Our server informed me they were out of the bread it normally comes on, and asked if I'd be okay with the potato bread, which I was. When I received it, I was pleased with the amount of food! The mixed greens were tossed in a balsamic, incredibly generous portion, and just the perfect size on the soup and sandwich. I'd almost ask for it with the potato bread again next time as it was absolutely delicious. I will be back, I can't remember the last time I had a grilled cheese that surprised me. The service was awesome as well, I don't remember what the guy said his name was but he had longer hair and was very sweet and very attentive. A different server/bartender also stopped by when she saw our drinks were low to see if we wanted more. That's the sort of thing that makes an impression on someone who values service over anything else when I go out. read more

Do not let the fact that this is a pub make you think the food here is your average pub food. When I went here I got the smoked trout appetizer and split the fish tacos and latona torta with carnitas for entrees. Everything was delicious. They took food more seriously then most restaurants I've eaten at in Seattle, so try not to be immediately turned off by the prices - the food is very much worth it. As for the pubs side of things, the beer selection was not huge but the options that they had were solid. Lots of local and seasonal beers on tap. The Latona Pub... comfortable setting. Lots of seating. Good mix of brews. Surprising food. Just an all-around winner. Only went here once, but it's earned a return trip. They have a refreshingly simple but perfect twist on classics. I cannot stop thinking about my friend's grilled cheese. My only knock was the service was a bit slow. I think they only had one person running around on the floor doing everything and it was pretty packed. Otherwise, a great pub. The food here was delicious. What is it about Seattle that brings great food and beer together? Whatever it is, I'm not complaining. Actually... now that I think about it, it's probably the rain. Went for my birthday. The greeting wasn't friendly, it almost seemed like we were a burden just by walking in (we were a group of 10, but no one was roughy or even drunk) and it seemed like a hassle when we ordered drinks and good. It's almost like they didn't want to welcome new patrons, which worked, none of us will be going back. This place stays hopping, some nights providing live music (tip the band). I've come here to replenish, often after a long day hiking with friends. I have mixed emotions about this place. I used to recommend this to friends, and I visited regularly. I liked the beer and enjoyed the atmosphere quite a bit. The food tastes good even though it's somewhat expensive. I've had good experiences with bartenders, but recently had a waiter blatantly ask us to buy more beers or leave because other people were waiting. Went on a Friday night around 7 with my girlfriend who says they have the best burger in town. Yes, the burger was awesome. The bun was delish too - since I ate the whole thing when usually I only eat the bottom bun. I give this place only 3 stars because: 1. Not so awesome was the Green Chile Chicken Quesadillla. It was a HUGE serving - enough for 2-3 people as apps - but blahhh-nd. Not spicy, not cheesy, not tasty. 2. LOUD. The musicians were finished and packing up but by the time we arrived but the music on the overhead speakers were overwhelming. I couldn't hear what my gf was saying from across our small table. One of those loud, cramped places that is TOTALLY worth it. Great food. Their hummus plate is amazing. Their cheese plate is amazing. (Came with honey and some apricot spread thing). We've been going to Latona Pub for years. It's the best gastro-pub in the area, way better than Greenlake Bar & Grill (and their entire chain of sub-par bars/grills) The burgers are always good, the menu changes enough to stay fun. The wife likes the mac'n'cheese. I had the Mufalleta the other day and it was good. I like the salad instead of frys, i never regret not eating leafs in lieu of deep fried potatoes. I went to the Latona a couple weeks ago, and had tasty tasty beer and a cheese plate. Not only did the cheese plate include several delicious dairy products, but it came with artisan bread, TRUFFLE HONEY, and toasty almonds. I keep trying to really love Latona but I just can't give it more than 3 stars. I think I've been here about 15 times. First and foremost it is a beer bar, second it serves pub-grub, and third they offer other beverages. The beer is often unique (which I like) but often bitter and IPA'd (which I don't usually like). Where are the malty beers? All of the grub is quite excellent but I don't really feel I'm getting my money's worth when I order a $14 burger and it comes with a pile of spring mix with basically zero fixings (including dressing). The burger is excellent and in my top 5 for Seattle but I dunno, that salad is just lame. I do however appreciate that they have salad and not something fried. Other beverages are available and my wife avoids beer these days so she gets wine. They have several varietals, but they're all cheap and nothing to get excited about. Haven't tried any mixed drinks because it's a beer bar and I get the feeling they don't really do cocktails. Service is always good and friendly, but waits can be a little long for seating (it's a small place) and food (it's a small kitchen). Music is great when we've caught live acts. read more

I love the Latona Pub. A friend introduced me to it about six months ago, and I didn't realize what I had been missing! It's like the perfect place for us to go after work on days we don't feel like cooking, and don't want to have fancy dinner or a crappy dinner. Not the usual greasy bar food you would imagine- they have salads instead of fries (with a great vinaigrette I hope to try and copy someday), homemade soups, and feature local/ organic foods. Not to mention the drinks! Revolving local beers on tap, good wine selection and so on. I love this little place, neighborhoody enough to feel comfortable and at home, have a drink, and some good food. Not a bad deal, totally the kind of place I try to hunt down. The Latona Pub just might be my new neighborhood favorite. And I'm not alone - this place is very popular with the local crowd, sometimes making it tough to get a table if you hit the 4:30-6:30 happy hour a little late. There are a few more tables upstairs that I only recently discovered (plus a foosball table!), and in the warmer months they set out a few small sidewalk tables. Fridays from 5-7pm are usually live jazz nights - a fun and welcome change from the usual, though the music really fills up the small space and can make it tough to converse. The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious. The beer selection rotates and is generally excellent - though this past week was a bit heavy on the IPAs, where is my hefeweizen, please! And they have real food: great salads, huge entrees, soup, appetizers. Don't miss the macaroni and cheese. It will change your life. I love that they include great little mixed-green side salads with most sandwiches and entrees, too. I've had good luck with the service recently, even on busy nights. This review would have been an unequivocal five stars except that the happy hour specials are lacking - only draft beer, $3.50 pint (usually $4.75). I'd like to see a special on wines by the glass and some discounted food options, too. read more

I stayed a few days with friends just blocks from this pub in Greenlake. We ate here a couple of times. It is now my Favorite Restaurant in Greenlake! Have you ever had a caesar salad with grilled pineapple on it? I have. What about the best tasting grilled cheese sandwich ever? The macaroni and cheese is worth missing your bus. The tomato soup is a little too spicy for my wimpy palate but that is my only complaint. And yes, the beer selection is superb. This is Seattle, after all. On a rainy day, i decided to trek here with a friend to chat. This place has some amazing beers. I ordered the meat plate along with the meatloaf. I really should have ordered only the meat plate since that held me over. They had the good salamis, cheese and amazing bread. The meatloaf was off the chain with great salad and crazy good mashed potatoe. Too bad i had to take most of the meatloaf home since i was stuffed. I do take it down a star due to how busy this place is and the crappy street parking. I guess the busyness is a testament to how good this place is. This is great small pub in the Greenlake area. The food is good, think upscale bar food. They have a wide variety of taps with great beer. It's definitely small, so it might be hard to get seats for more than a party of 4. It's usually crowded, but that's because so many people love it! read more

Good consistent food for a neighborhood joint. Grabbed dinner here last night, the butternut squash soup had a nice spice to it and my Caesar salad was...well, a Caesar salad (but the grilled pineapple on top added a little something extra!) My friend opted for the burger and said that the Columbia City Bakery roll made it great, otherwise it was pretty much a standard burger. Good selection of drafts and it wasn't too busy for a Wednesday night. Service was consistent, although we switched back and forth between two servers, but I would rather have that than none at all! They have live music on some Friday nights, haven't done that in awhile, but it's always fun (and very crowded). All in all, a solid beer and grub offering in the Greenlake area. read more

Love this place. So hungry and can't wait to go eat there now... but had to share the love first. Amazing food. Fun low key date place; i like to sit upstairs and people watch or play fooz ball. Great for a large group. Staff are friendly but you have to be a little more independent with your service, which I don't care at all. Favorites are Chicken dumpling soup, portobello mushroom sandwich, Red velvet cake, mac n cheese, steak and pear salad and they have the BEST chicken quesadilla in town with all the fixings. I've been to the Latona Pub quite a few times on Monday nights - mostly to hear the Djangomatics play (I'm a die hard Django fan at heart). It seems like every time I've gone, they've been out of one of their featured beers... and even though the food I have tried there is good, would it kill them to have some damn french fries on the menu?? I know this is Seattle and we're all hippy about healthy food, but when I go to a pub, sometimes all I want are some yummy salty fries with my beer... The ironic thing is, the second time I went there, I remember ordering the foccacia bread, and it was so oozing with butter and olive oil dipping sauce, I could feel my arteries clogging with every bite I took and mr. heart attack knocking on my chest wanting to get in... and french fries aren't on the menu compared to that?? Still, this is a very cool atmosphere and hang out spot, and great staff. 3 stars :) It gets very crowded though on some nights (at least it was on Mondays) so get there earlier if you have a group! read more
