My husband and I made a reservation here for our wedding anniversary brunch. We were staying in Key West, so we took the ferry over to the island. The ferry ride was very nice and a host checked us in from the dock at Key West. We chose to sit outside on the patio under the fans and still had an excellent view. We ordered mimosas to start. My husband ordered the Morning Fondue, which consisted of mini pancakes and french toast sticks with multiple dipping sauces. I ordered the crab Benedict, which came with very yummy potato cakes and sun dried tomatoes. The eggs were poached perfectly, and I thought the sun dried tomato was a great pairing on the plate. The service was really slow, especially when there was barely anyone in the restaurant. This may have been intentional for a full experience, but 2 hours for brunch is a bit excessive, especially when we have to then wait on a ferry to get back to Key West. This place is a MUST if you are in KW, but BOOK MONTHS IN ADVANCE! Totally worth it. We split a lobster & crab cake, I had the Cobia and my husband had the Tuna. All AMAZING! Staff is awesome and it's definitely a fancy place to eat! Be prepared to take the ferry to the island. The restaurant is located on Sunset Key, only accessible by the ferry near Mallory Square. This was a really nice overall experience. The boat ride over and back was really interesting with friendly associates. Make sure you get to the dock embarkation point about 30 minutes prior to departure just to be safe. You never know how the traffic's going to be going into old town Key West. Park at the Opal Key parking deck as it is covered under the sun and only five dollars per hour. I would recommend dressing up just a little bit (collared shirt) is the place is fancy. The service was amazing as Iva assisted us. She was very friendly, professional, and informed on the menu options. What a standout. The food did not meet the mark though. My fish tacos were not tasty and the soft shells were not soft but stale/stiff. My wife got a variation of the steak salad and substituted a fish (Snapper) on the top. The snapper was tasty, but overcooked. The salad as a part of this entree was also not very good. This has been our most favourite restaurant of all and have eaten here for almost 20 years. This most recent visit we were extremely disappointed in the 2 times we dined here. As the view and ambiance is always incredibly stunning, the menus and meal were a far cry from its previous high standard. The service was still wonderful but the price and cuisine were extremely disappointing. There has been obviously a change in management and not for the better. The 3 star rating is now only for its beautiful venue and the experience of the ferry ride Our friends were as equally disappointed in their experience as well. We were excited to go, and we made reservations a year ago. Our table was situated right by the water, so we had an amazing view of the sunset! The food was pretty good, but not outstanding. My short ribs were overcooked. The dessert was good but not amazing. I'd say the experience and view are the biggest draw. The service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Our waitress took a while to return, did not bring the check when dessert arrived, as we had asked, and rudely laughed at us when we said we had to get going. Did she not get that the ferry only comes every 30 minutes? It was 8:30 pm, and not only did we have to take the ferry, we also had to walk to a shuttle back to the hotel. The last one was at 9:30. We we're finished eating 15 minutes before she came back. The service is not warm, welcoming or helpful. read more

First of all, Lattudes is listed among the top most romantic restaurants in America, so check that out. It's listed as being located in Key West, but actually, there is a designated spot on the Key West Pier, right beside the Opal resort, where you catch a ferry (it runs on the hour and at the half hour) directly to the restaurant, which is on Sunset Key. sunset is a private key of swanky "cottages" and the Latitudes restaurant. Taking the ferry to get there is part of the fun. The view from this restaurant is truly outstanding - it sets right on the beach with an unadulterated view of the sunset. We were hoping to sit outside, but an approaching storm was questionable, so when we arrived, the hostess quickly set us up inside and I appreciated that there wasn't a decision to be made. We started with cocktails, of course, and the waiter asked if we would like to enjoy those prior to ordering, which I appreciated as I think that is the way a civilized life ought to be lived. I had a key lime martini that was both strong and creamy, and my daughter had a key lime colada that was much like lime sherbet, only better. Both cocktails had graham cracker rims. They have a full bar of nice liquors and beers, as well as a hefty wine list. You don't have to just order sassy, silly drinks like us, but you can if you're on vacation and want to be a little extra. My daughter and I each had a radicchio salad with grilled pineapple and spicy, roasted hazelnuts. The vinegarette was so nice and light that I was unsure of it being on the salad. Again, very civilized. This is no sop your salad up with ranch dressing kind of place. The salads were superb. For my entree I had the yellow tailed snapper in a vin blanc sauce. It was incredible. The fish was cooked to perfection- light, yet crunchy on the edges, and the sauce was drinkable on its own! My daughter is a vegan and there were several options for her. They were out of the miso dish, so she had a mushroom and noodles dish that was made in the style of Korean barbecue. It had a very strong smokey taste. My partner had scallops that were nicely seared and the portion was perfect, as was the presentation. We enjoyed a bottle of Fleur de Mer with our meal, but the wine list is both extensive and impressive. As per usual, part of our vacation fun in Key West involves ordering key lime pie every night and scoring them. The best part of this pie was that the merengue is toasted. Oh my goodness! The pie came with a strawberry coulis and a chocolate straw. Presentation A++ I would be remiss if I did not tell you that the service is one of the best parts of this experience. This is a waitstaff who understands that fine dining is as much about the service as it is about the dining. That may sound snobby, but there, I said it. They understand the pacing of a meal and are not concerned with rushing you in and out. Let me be transparent, this is an expensive restaurant. Additionally, you'll need to get your reservations about two months in advance, but it is definitely worth a splurge. Think about something you hated doing at work, and then go there and say to yourself: all that "stuff" I did at work? This makes it worthwhile. read more

Four stars is for the view of sunset only. Food is mediocre. Reminded me of very nice wedding food prepped to get out in a speedy manner with little to no skill needed. The snapper was okay with a soupy clear not too flavorful sauce. And the veggies (a small carrot stick and a broccoli stem were more like plate decor) were blanched with no seasonings. The short rib app was extremely salty and I love salt. Server was just okay. We asked him if there was a liquor list because my husband wanted a nice reposado tequila on the rocks and the server said they only had patron, so we opted for a bottle of wine. But when we looked at the drink menu we saw a margarita made with Herradura Reposado. We also thought we heard other serves provide specials but when we were ordering we asked about specials and he told us they didn't have any. We didn't bother to confirm if there actually were any because we were kinda just ready to leave. Go here for the view. It is five star. Great place to propose or for pictures. Outstanding food! Outstanding service! (Alex was great! As were the people who were bussing our table.) It was so hard to choose what to eat off the menu. We came to celebrate our Anniversary and this was a perfect selection. We sat outside and there was a lovely breeze. It was very easy to find Slip 29 behind the Opal Resort. The slips are numbered. It was soooo nice taking a boat ride over to Sunset Key. There were only 20 people on the entire boat. We started with the Cucumber Basil Cooler and the Key Lime Frozen Colada. They were both wonderful additions to our meal and great on a warm day. For appetizers we had the chilled poached shrimp and the tomato gazpacho. The shrimp were a very good size served on top of a tasty dill salad. The gazpacho had a fried lemon on the center. It was a great touch. It had great seasoning!! For our mains we enjoyed the latitudes burger and the key west fish tacos. We loved the seasonings! (Sometimes, you go somewhere and things are bland - these weren't!!) Even though we were sooo full, our waiter brought us a surprise slice of key lime pie with a sparkler in it. Wow!! This was one of the best pieces of key lime pie we have ever had!! Always love coming here for some of the best breakfast/brunch you can get in the area with the most beautiful view of stunning blue water. Very very well landscaped as well. Staff are always exceptionally professional and friendly and the food is worth every penny!! We stayed at one of the resorts and decided to venture out for one of the lunches. Food was good, much better than the resort food. Especially their crispy rice with spicy tuna was very good. The problem and the low rating is because of the staff. When we got there by taxi we did not realize that we would have a hard time get a cab back! We assumed they will call us a cab! Long story short, it took us 1:15 to get picked up!! And the staff did not seem to care at all! They kept saying we have called a cab but didn't care enough to follow up or try other options when taxis didn't show up! If you are going there with a taxi, make sure to ask the cab to wait for you because the staff is useless and don't care!! read more

Horrible first night experience. Very poorly run establishment and it was apparent why when I met the manager. My wife and I couldn't believe the ticket times and hour and a half after we had been seated with no main course. I finally got up to speak with the manager and told him we would like to close our check due to the frustration and leave. MOST managers would say "I am so sorry" or a "please let me take care of this" but no. This manager proceeded to sprint to the kitchen and not say a word to us. It was as if he ran to make sure if our food was not finally being prepped to cancel it. Our waiter brought us our check for our salad and the manager looked at me from afar never having expressed any apologies for his poorly trained staff and inefficient kitchen. Given the restaurants primarily close at 10 it was a hungry first night in Key West, thanks Latitudes. I saw why this restaurant has such reviews though and books up so far in advance... We were looking very forward to what we were told was the best restaurant in key west. Sadly, it was very disappointing. It started by the ferry driver, not allowing us to come over even 15 minutes early because the bar was supposed to be for locals. Once we got there, there was zero people at the bar the entire time we were there even upon leaving no one there at the bar. The food was just so so - honestly I think I could've made the grouper just as good, perhaps better than what was served to me. The potatoes seem like they were refried from last night. The wine list was terrible - overall a very, very underwhelming experience. Every other restaurant we've been to in Key West was significantly better. Definitely a fun experience. The ferry ride to the restaurant was so fun. There was outside sitting and inside seating options for this ride. When we arrived to the restaurant it was lite up with lights outside. The environment was calm and just so beautiful. I think we picked a perfect day to go. The service was fantastic and so was the food. I was afraid that the portion was small but boy was I wrong. I was full and I eat a lot. They gave our bread with these cute butter but sadly I didn't get a picture. The staff was amazing. I had such an amazing experience. We wanted to love this place. The location and ambiance is outstanding. We came on a Monday at 12:15 the restaurant was NOT busy. There were a max of 15 tables seated. Our server barely greeted us and gave us water. Then 15 minutes later came back to ask about drinks. We ordered two drinks and the crab cake appetizer. The crab cake was out in less than 5 minutes. We did not see our waitress or our drinks or even get a water refill for another 30 minutes. To which she said "we have a new bar tender". Meanwhile the table within an arms reach of us had a waiter at their table no less than 4 times in that time period. I would love to rate the food but outside of the crab cake we got no food. We had no drinks other than water. I don't remember another time that we have complained at a restaurant. We asked for a manager that came right away and apologized. I saw two wait staff the entire time. Plenty of back staff. Clearly they are not staffing well. Why isn't the manager out helping if the wait staff are drowning?? Unfortunately, after we left without food or drinks we had to wait on a ferry to come to go back to the mainland to get something to eat. Very disappointing experience. read more

I've been to Lattitudes many (!) times and it never gets old! Always a debate which is better, lunch or dinner. The daytime view is breathtaking, the sunset & twinkly lit dinners are as well. The service is outstanding, as is the food. Worth the cost, the ferry is great, don't listen to the haters! Went yesterday for lunch with guests visiting from ATL & again, excellent start to finish. First off, the kindness and patience of the hosting staff was great in getting us directions to the pier. We were greeted by attentive ship captains and a pleasant ride over. Our waiter had this soothing baritone voice that made the early morning reservation even more appealing. My sautéed veges could have been seasoned but, alas, no imagination went into a meal for someone who doesn't eat eggs. The home fried potatoes had a lovely red spice mixture and were cooked to perfection. My husband's order was wrong but that was quickly fixed and the subsequent salmon Benedict was amazing. The Mimosas were delicious-not too sweet- and then the key lime pie with perfect meringue and a sparkler for my birthday topped off our morning. SUNSET DINING / DERANGED MAN ON BOAT REVIEW: Had a wonderful sunset dining experience on 3.18.21 despite being hit by a swarm of TERMITES at dusk, & everyone running away to take refuge indoors. John the Mgr was very accommodating to replace food/drinks w/bugs in them, & credited our ticket accordingly. He was also very helpful in securing the reservation wks beforehand. Michel our server was also very knowledgeable, & respectful of time, & spacing our food items so we could enjoy the moment as a whole, & not become rushed. The key lime martini's were top notch. I enjoyed the french onion soup, & medium rare ahi tuna plate for dinner. My husband had the lobster, & wedge salad. Our 10yr old enjoyed the marinara & noodles child's menu option. The boat ride over at 615pm was a bit packed, but nice views, coming back at 930ish pm it was sparse. We sat inside where it was spaced & air conditioned hoping to avoid crowds. The only issue was a very deranged man yelling about face masks (which all were wearing), & that his wife was an epidemiologist. This wasn't the boat's fault, he was apparently not well, or maybe drunk, & needed someone to help him mind his own business. We look forward to returning to this restaurant, & staying in a cottage on Sunset Key. We were amazed how quaint, beautiful, & peaceful the island is, & definitely off radar. The termite incident was apparently very uncommon, & not normal so hopefully when you consider sunset dining this won't happen again. We saved this Key West jewel for last! On our last night of vacation we had dinner at this very beautiful romantic restaurant. It is a culinary masterpiece. We enjoyed the ferry ride to the island (required if you want to indulge in this fine dining experience). After exiting the ferry we were greeted by magnificent illuminated palm trees. The views were incredible, matched by the delicious food we enjoyed. We were seated at a window table where we were able to enjoy all the brilliance of the lighting display. For starters we had an enormous lobster and crab cake, and tuna carpaccio. Followed by Seared sea scallops and a beautifully presented Florida lobster tail. Service was excellent! Came here for a bachelorette and was pleased with the food and the ambiance. The view is breathtaking. The food and drinks are good. The service was honestly probably the worst I've ever had and I think that the server was perturbed by our existence. I think part of it is we're pretty young (early 20s) and dressed for a bachelorette. The waitress forgot our conch and it didn't come until after dinner. She also neglected to ever bring my friend the missing fork so she could eat her food. I got the lamb sandwich and it was great. The fries were crisp. The conch, tho late was good. The Bloody Mary's could have been stronger. This would have easily been 5 stars if the server didn't seem so blatantly uncomfortable while serving us and totally dismissive.
