Visited tonight for my husbands birthday, and we will definitely be back! We had a party of 6 (2 were children), I would not recommend kids. Although the staff was friendly enough and they did have a high chair, it isn't really a place for kids. We didn't know that beforehand. My kids are adventurous eaters so it wasn't a problem, and they did have chicken nuggets and mac n cheese in the appetizers, so there are options. But the overall vibe is more sophisticated than a place you bring a 4 and 1 year old, oops. Our group ordered a variety of dishes and tried each others. We had the filet bites, pork belly sliders, short rib, lobster bisque, chicken strips, and ahi tuna. Not a plate was left with food on it! Everything was well-seasoned, warm, beautiful presentation, and very flavorful. Our desserts were butter cake for the birthday boy, beignets and pear crostata. The butter cake was the best we've ever had! I will likely dream about it tonight. The dishes are well thought out, uniquely developed and sophisticated. Often times new establishments try too hard to do things unique and it comes out as a flop in an attempt to bring too much to the table. Not the case here! I'm really glad Camarillo has a place like this, and I hope more come! Being that we built a Cracker Barrel literally from scratch, I know this city has the money to support an establishment like this. We'll be back! read more

Where I come from they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Perhaps that's Chef-Owner Alex Castillo's philosophy at the newly opened Latitude 34 , the long awaited addition to Camarillo's low-key dining scene. Folks will remember Chef Alex as the winner of virtually every area "best of" poll and festival competition out there. He gained a loyal local following while helming the kitchen at Twenty88 in Old Town for several years. In fact, Latitude 34 is very similar to Twenty88 from the design choices, to the menu. That was a disappointment, frankly, when I tried the place out on opening day. Is this merely Twenty88 2.0, I wondered? Perhaps future artwork (any) or a bit of color on the walls would warm the place up and differentiate it between its competitors Slate and Twenty88. But, it's an otherwise pleasant and modern space with a large dining room and expansive patio. We sat in the relatively small bar area a little after 3 (lunch ends at 3), and were given the dinner menu. It's one page, but still quite large with plenty of variety. Again, it was remarkably familiar. There are some new takes on short ribs and the steak dishes are composed rather than a la carte. A classic like filet and lobster finds menu space, along with halibut and seafood pasta. We tried two starters/small plates (most available all day) and all worries about familiarity and similarities went away. Chef Alex and crew were firing on all cylinders out of the gate! His recipes are Cal-fusion perfection. If it ain't broke, don't fix it? The pork belly sliders with slaw and Sriracha aioli take the expression "melt in your mouth" to the next level. The pickled onions provide a tangy crunch. There's an accompanying sticky soy or hoisin type sauce that provides a sweetness. The sliders are good sized and served with a small batch of fries that are worthy of mention. They're like a marriage between the good parts of In N Out's and McDonald's fries. The truffle arancini are given a softer touch here than other versions. There's a not too angry arrabiata and a rich garlic aioli for dipping (great for the fries, too). The panko is light and the texture is truly close to risotto. I could have enjoyed more mushroom and a bit less truffle oil, but if you love all things truffled, these are definitely for you. I'd certainly enjoy them again. Looking at dessert, it was impossible to leave without beignets. Impossible, I tell you. I've been burned by beignets in the area, but not this time. They numbered more than a few and arrived like little pillows spun from fine golden cotton candy. A healthy scoop of berry ice cream, fresh berries, and dipping creme complete this playful, but seriously good dessert. They're practically required! Service was pleasant and earnest. Staff seemed to be trained to work as a team regardless of station or position. Sigh, but when will local restaurants stop making staff wear the circa 1990 all black uniform? If you're looking for something very unique or mind blowing, you may not find it at Latitude 34. However, if you appreciate the fine craftsmanship of an accomplished chef in his element, then you'll find an excellent and very welcome example in this new offering. Indeed, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! *for more photos of Latitude 34 follow @venividivicifoodie on Instagram* read more

I can't comment on the food because my visit didn't get that far. The service is the issue here, or lack of it to be more precise. My wife and have wanted to try this place for a while now and finally had the opportunity last night. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and quickly seated on the patio. So far, so good. We started reviewing our menus, which had several tempting possibilities. After about ten minutes we realized that we hadn't even been acknowledged by the waiter working that area- no quick hi, be with ya in a second, nothing. This while the waiter is servicing a couple of other tables near us. Hmmm. We waited another few minutes, then figured they didn't want our business. As we were leaving a patron at another table pointed us out to the waiter, who just smirked and continued on as though it was not out of the norm there. We left for a place across the parking lot, where we had a great meal and service. read more

Food was very good! The salmon is so well made and the Chicken and Waffles was on point. Price is reasonable. Wait staff was getting ready for a large party and not very attentive, took forever to get check. That part will keep me away, but good food. read more

Ate here again on a Saturday night. Had reservations; seated quickly even though it was full. Everything was terrific! Our waitress was engaging and responsive. The food was terrific: blackened tuna, rice, broccolini- just the right amount of food. Shared a Caesar. Mac and cheese app was ok. Scallops were delish. Standout drinks! Raspberry Lemon Drop, Espresso Martini and S'mores Martini! We sat inside but prefer bar or outdoor seating. Had to ask for water, but service is smoother now. read more

My family recently went to Latitude 34 to celebrate my son's birthday after I received several very good recommendations from friends. As it was a Saturday night, I did make a reservation and upon arrival they did seat us right away. The table the hostess walked us to was broken and leaning down about 2 inches on one side. We requested either a different table or for someone to fix that table and though we waited a bit no one appeared. My daughter-in-law got down on the floor and fix the table herself so we could sit down. Our server was very nice, and immediately greeted us and took our drink order. We all requested water in addition to our drink order and although we reminded him several times, we never did get our water. We were pleased with the quality of the food, and we ordered two desserts to share, which were delicious. I don't know that I will rush to go back as the ambience left something to be desired. It was loud to the point of us not even being able to hear each other across the table. Perhaps I was expecting something more upscale and quiet. In addition, they said it's near the kitchen which added to the noise. read more

The food was excellent. I had the monte christo sandwich. Great flavor. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and prompt. He checked on us several times throughout our meal. Had dinner here with husband and friends to celebrate 2 birthdays. 3 of us had the sea scallops with shrimp on risotto. So delicious! Waiter was very friendly and staff were too. The only downside for me was when I asked if they had a gluten friendly menu and was told no. So I was on my own trying to choose items that I thought would not upset my stomach later. read more

The food & service was all fabulous! Highly recommend the ceviche appetizer. I had that and the wedge salad. Husband had the seafood pasta. All was so flavorful and fresh. Service was stellar! read more

Enthusiastic reviews for Latitude 34 are completely justified. We went to happy hour yesterday and found that: (1) The staff are enthusiastic, friendly, and super competent; (2) the house wine (in our case pinot noir) is delicious; (2) the happy hour menu is really tempting; (3) we loved the taco of the day (made with filet mignon - who could ask for more?); (4) the beef sliders with bacon were so good I would go back today for another round (if my wife would let me!); and (5) the price was a bargain considering the high quality and generous portions. Blown away! read more

Tried Latitude 34 on a recommendation from a friend. Went to lunch together and we got 4 small plates and a flight of 3 margaritas each. Lunch came to $100. Yikes! While I enjoyed the flavor of the food, nut sure I will return since $50/pp for lunch feels excessive. read more

Had to come and check out the newest place that is gaining attention on Yelp! When we arrived, we were offered a seat in the main dining area....did not work out! Much too close to the people next to you, felt like a communal table. We chose to sit at a bar table and got lucky with Austin helping us throughout the night. We decided on getting an assortment of appetizers to get a feel of the place. Everything was very good, no complaints. Service was great as well. We ended with the bread pudding, it made it on my top favorites for Ventura County (if you follow me on Yelp, you'll see that I always choose bread pudding!). If you haven't came yet, don't hesitate. Such a great a little gem added to our area. If you sit at the bar, ask for Austin! Can't wait to return for more bread pudding. read more

What a joy. Visit #2 even better than the first. Starting with just walking in, yes. A welcoming experience, which continued for the next hour or so. Impeccable service from Victor and his servers. The meal consisted a Branzino special, Sea scallops, filet mignon bites, and the calamari appetizer, which was uniquely delicate and delicious. BUT ... the filet mignon bites were big chunks, which sliced into three rich bites each. It came with sunomono prepped cucumbers and what appeared to be udon noodles, all plump and delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection, and could pass for a smallish entree easily. The branzino came with julienned vegetables, hot out the sauté pan and ( surprise! ) a cold rice pilaf in lieu of salad. This was my first experience with branzino, and I now understand why it ranks so highly at seafood restaurants. I loved its dense texture, crisped skin, the caper garnish - if it is a featured special, I urge any of you with a big appetite ( I finished my dish at home, 4 hours later ) to order it before they run out. My buddy's scallop and blackened shrimp dish was equally awesome. Dessert. Indeed. Butter cake, ice cream, yes, yes, yes. Lat 34 is my favorite Camarillo restaurant, period. read more

The service was quick and attentive. We enjoyed the patio seating ambiance. The brie appetizer was made fresh to order, but the crostini bread was stailed, which was the only bad part of it... We got some crackers with it, so we still enjoyed it. The filet mignon bites were so delicious and perfectly cooked, the Bacon cheese burger was delicious, and the size it was pretty generous and tasty. The polenta was a bit bland, but the veggies were perfectly roasted and seasoned. Definetely will recommend this restaurant. Btw they have a happy hour from 3-6 which has a great selection of dishes and drinks. We will come back soon to try another dishes. read more

I can only say that after going back, I had a wonderful and tasty cuisine experience! I had The beautiful experience of having their Spanish Sangria with "The Brie Chicken", it was..... "Delicious!!" Layers of yummy!!!, I had it with a loaded potato cooked to perfection with tender seasoned vegetables, finished with the most amazing and delicious dessert..... " I will call them the best mini churros I have ever eaten, with a side of creamy crème brûlée like dipping sauce and vanilla ice cream topped with an amazing Italian cherry gelato and garnish with a bit of mint leaves !, I can only tell you that the food placed before me, never had a chance!! lol! Latitude 34! the place where we celebrated my dear old dad's birthday - because what says "happy birthday" better than fancy schmancy, everyone throw their cards in and lets tip cash, but we cant draw on the tables, type of place. Now, the vibe at Latitude 34 is fancy, but not "pretend-you're-at-the-Oscars" fancy. It's more of a "wear-a-collared-shirt-and-shoes-but-don't-take-yourself-too-seriously" fancy. You know, the type of fancy where you can still laugh at your own jokes without being judged by your waiter. Speaking of waiters, ours was a legend. He was like the Sherlock Holmes of the menu, solving culinary mysteries left and right, and he was so attentive that he could probably sense when we were about to run out of napkins. Now, we didn't just stick to one dish like a bunch of amateurs. Oh no, we decided to go all out and order a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, because who needs consistency in life, right? Luckily, nothing was bad; it was all decent. But let's not kid ourselves; the star of the show was undoubtedly the Pork Sliders. They were like little bites of crispy, porky, sticky goodness on the outside, with a soft, decadent pork surprise in the middle (pause). If I could have married those sliders, I would have. They were the kind of food that makes you question your life choices up to that point. It would be like Kermy and miss Piggy. B However, let's take a moment to discuss the red pasta with mussels. It was so forgettable that it might as well have been a sequel to The Mummy (the one with Brendan Fraiser). I mean, if you blinked, you probably missed it. It was like the Houdini of pasta dishes, disappearing faster than a magician's assistant in a box. It was like the 3rd Destiny Child member. Or the guy with dreadlocks from N'Sync. Now, if you're looking to feel fancy and boozy simultaneously, may I present to you the Margarita Flight. It's like a mini-vacation in a glass, where every sip takes you one step closer to convincing yourself that you can dance like nobody's watching (even though everyone is. Side note, there was an older lady there who acted like she never saw brown people dine in before. We side eyed her back but I digress). So, on a scale of "I'd rather eat at a gas station" to "I'd sell my soul for another Pork Slider," I'd say Latitude 34 lands squarely at 9/10. Would I go back? Absolutely, because life's too short not to indulge in crispy, porky, sticky goodness. Just avoid that forgettable red pasta, unless you have a thing for bland noodles and overcooked shellfish. read more

I came for brunch and the service was very quick. We were treated at the door and seated immediately. Our sever was very attentive and even helpful with giving recommendations. It is a very casual place and great for large groups. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor space does have heaters which was nice. I ordered the Diablo pole tartar and it was soooooo good. It was a pretty decent size too so I ordered it as my main meal. For drinks they have a whiskey honey and pineapple mule with fresh ginger. Both drinks were delicious. read more

Not sure what they hype was about! I think I expected a bit more considering, it's here in the Camarillo Outlets. The patio area was cute. The customer service was not what I expected. People work here like they don't care. The hostess was not cheerful and welcoming. We sat down right away and that was nice. We waited about five minutes for a waiter and that wasn't bad. The guy took our order and there was nothing special about it! He went to the other table and I observed a different behavior. Perhaps, because we didn't have a question about the bottles of wine. He talked about his favorite wine and the pairing of the dish. I was a bit blown away with his service. Why didn't we get the same service? Our food took a while and the fish and chips were 7 out of 10. The salad was a 4 out of 10. Overall, I wouldn't come back here. We thought it would be nice to dine here since, it's a little on the "high" end and we didn't get the food service or amazing quality food. The plates don't give a "wow" presentation. For sure, next time we'll go down the street for great drinks, food, and awesome customer service. It's just a weird vibe! Maybe, I went when it was short staffed... read more

My husband and I came here with our baby for my husband's birthday. A waitress with blonde hair, maybe early 20s, tipped my son's car seat over. He is only one month old. I had to catch him or else he would have fallen onto the concrete ground. She did not say sorry and just kept walking. She just said "oooo" and kept going. I am not one to leave a bad review but the fact her carelessness put my son into danger is absolutely unacceptable. Many many people and waiters walked by our son in his car seat and didn't even touch the car seat, this is absolutely unacceptable and I am just so glad my son is okay. read more

We celebrated our daughter's confirmation by bringing her Godparents to dinner for their FIRST time at Latitude. We often celebrate special occasions over dinner at Latitude not to mention purchasing gift cards for family during the holidays. We were a party of six; 4 adults two children. We arrived for an early dinner at 4pm and the restaurant was empty with plenty open seating. We've always had a pleasant time without any complaints until last night. Initially the service was slow taking our order as well as the food coming out but we did not mind. After we paid our bill around 6pm we continued to order a dessert and drinks. At 6:15 pm our server approached us relaying a message from the manager Anita; stating they had another party of six waiting and they needed us to leave although there was still plenty open seating. Both the server and manager insisted we had been warned we could only have the table until 6pm which was false considering how empty the restaurant was when we arrived. We've never experienced such terrible customer service. My husband asked to speak with the Manager Anita who then came over and was terribly rude. She continued to make bizarre excuses to justify why we had to leave. It is very unfortunate we had to experience this because we love the food and restaurant but we will not be returning. Our family members who were first timers to the restaurant were baffled by the treatment of the manager and her unprofessionalism. They too will not return to this restaurant again and will also make our family and friends aware of this incident. If you're considering this restaurant please be aware of the undisclosed "time limit" and the unprofessionalism of their manager Anita. read more

Food and service were great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because my family and I were charged as a party of 8 and we were only 5. When I asked the waiter she said they charge 18% tip for big parties, but they're menu states that's only for parties of 8 or more. We were 5 and don't agree with this, my family and I don't have a problem tipping we usually tip in cash, but I don't agree with the false advertising. Also makes me wonder if this was racially motivated that they assumed because of our race we wouldn't leave a tip and they thought the only way to get one is by putting us down as a party of 8. read more
