    Oxtails with rice and beans

I popped into this place for a solo lunch today. The food is on display cafeteria style, with a large amount of dishes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very clean, with sparse decor and a few tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All the workers were very polite. I had an Oxtail plate, served with a choice of rice and beans. I opted for White Rice and Black Beans. Since I was dining in, I was offered a small salad and a cup of chicken soup. It was a hot day, so I had a Passionfruit Slushy. The Oxtail was very tasty and the rice and beans were flavorful. The portion was sizeable. You get a great value for the price. I would definitely return, because there are many other dishes that I would like to try. It would also be great for a grab and go dinner. Very affordable, and you will be full and happy.

Drove 30 minutes to this spot and it was worth it! The place is cafeteria style. Meaning you grab and pick your food before sitting down. I really enjoyed this place for a number of reasons, but two things stood out to me. They offer a wide variety of Latin inspired dishes. & I think that's a very unique way to showcase the Hispanic community and culture. They have everything from Puerto Rican pernil (roasted pork) to Brazilian cuts of meat, to Dominican dishes. The food was delicious! I mean everything in my plate was great. The portion is also great for the value. The service was amazing as well. The gentleman who served me , explained what I can choose as far as meats , sides and also explained the different sizes they offer. Overall , I truly enjoyed this spot. I am returning any day now lol. *Things to know.. -They have parking -They have desserts -[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good for kids[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] -Good portions

Spot is good. Not sure it survives in Nutley tbh but fingers crossed it does. Half to do with the type of food the other half is they had what seems like way too many people working. For a small place it seems unsustainable. Great selection of meats rice and other treats. They have coffee options and desserts. One problem I see is the the to go pans they use are very short and it seems you get more than you actually do. I've never seen a place like this use such a small foil pan. Between the small portion and the Yuka being very bland I had to lower my score.

I just finished a delicious lunch from Latin Point! I was warmly greeted as I perused the day's offerings which were a wide range that changes daily. There is an $8.99 special that includes a meat, rice and beans. I opted for the stewed goat (that platter was $11.99) with red beans and yellow rice. Everything tasted fantastic! The goat was very tender and packed with flavor. The rice and beans were very tasty too. The meal was very filling and I enough enough for lunch tomorrow. I would love to return and try more of their delicious items!

What a great Latin restaurant to open in town. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is very clean and the staff is courteous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I chose their pulled pork (pernil) and yellow rice with red beans. It was like eating at home. Delicious!! Not overly salty or seasoned. It was perfect and hit the right spot. They will have daily specials, so if looking the" arroz con gandules", I suggest calling before going. I missed it yesterday :/. But I look forward to coming back. I wish them much success. Thank you for bringing the Latin flavor in town.

I don't know how this place has 5 stars because the food was definitely not 5 star worthy. Maybe family reviewed them. I ordered pernil, rice, beans, yuka and three empanadas. First off the chicken empanadas were not edible. The chicken inside was so dry it was like eating sawdust. The pernil was dry as well and the rice had no flavor. To make things worse I was charged $25.95 for a large pernil. The menu said $16 but I didn't notice that until I returned home. On a positive note the beans and yuka were fine. Needless to say my friend and I won't be back.

Beef stew and lentil soup! Both delicious

5 stars for everything. Friendly service, delicious food and generous portions. Definitely recommend for eating in or taking out.

I had made reservations 2 weeks ago to come see a World Cup Match , as i have done in many cultural places with Amazing experiences . Up till tonight . I was given a make shift table cramped up the bar and in front of a crowded line waiting to be seated . These ppl literally were hovering over me for most of my meal if not leaning on my table . The wait staff barely had space to move around the table so my head was elbowed , chair kicked multiple times by the waiters . The food was 5-6/10 . We ordered Churrasco in a salad bowl . I requested my meat medium rare . Surveying the room , i already knew at this capacity it was a huge ask to get it right . Sure enough , i barely touched my meal . We ordered similar dish but with shrimp 6/10 . Our appetizer was guacamole with plantain chips . The portion served was small . i didn't bother to ask for dessert . I had been to other restuarant for watch parties where the managers knew when to curtail the flow of patrons . For the enjoyment and safety of the people in the dining area . Something for this place to consider .

All the menus are tablets, and you can switch between English and Spanish. Frustratingly, there was no Cuban sandwich available on the dinner menu. We got an appetizer sampler to start. Most of it was fried foods, so it was decent. For an entree, I got the fish filet in garlic sauce. The fish was tender and the sauce was flavorful. I also tried the oxtail. Some of them were tender and other pieces were quite chewy. To finish the meal, I ordered a cortadito but got a cortado instead. You'd think a Cuban restaurant would know the difference.

The parking lot was packed so I expected there to be a wait but was pleasantly surprised when our party of 5 (plus a baby!) was seated right away. The place is lively and a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There's a stage/dance floor in the middle so I can imagine it can turn kind of clubby later in the night. Interestingly, the menus are all tablets and while really cool at first, it got annoying when a couple of our menus started to glitch. High tech but also leaves more room for failure. The service was friendly though and decently quick. We ordered a few appetizers and they came out in a reasonable amount of time. We got a sampler, croquettas, and a tamal. Everything tasted great so I had high hopes for our entrees. I went with the Mother's Day Special Relleno (stuffed) Salmon. It was a little overcooked but still really tasty. I believe it was stuffed with some crab meat and cheese. I also really liked the sauce that covered it. My dad got oxtail and it was seasoned very well but the oxtail pieces were cooked inconsistently. Some were soft and came off the bone very easily while others were tough to the point I had to use my hands to gnaw the meat off the bone. Everyone else's dishes were pretty good too. All in all La Havana 59 seems like a solid Cuban spot. I'd come back.
