The total order was 2 lentil soups , 2 empanadas, 2 pasteles and 2 juice drinks which cost $48 . I think it's way overpriced . The meat was very dry in my dishes and lacked Sabor ( flavor ) Different latino cultures share similar dishes with different flavors or lack there of . I popped into this place for a solo lunch today. The food is on display cafeteria style, with a large amount of dishes. The restaurant is very clean, with sparse decor and a few tables. All the workers were very polite. I had an Oxtail plate, served with a choice of rice and beans. I opted for White Rice and Black Beans. Since I was dining in, I was offered a small salad and a cup of chicken soup. It was a hot day, so I had a Passionfruit Slushy. The Oxtail was very tasty and the rice and beans were flavorful. The portion was sizeable. You get a great value for the price. I would definitely return, because there are many other dishes that I would like to try. Drove 30 minutes to this spot and it was worth it! The place is cafeteria style. Meaning you grab and pick your food before sitting down. I really enjoyed this place for a number of reasons, but two things stood out to me. They offer a wide variety of Latin inspired dishes. & I think that's a very unique way to showcase the Hispanic community and culture. They have everything from Puerto Rican pernil (roasted pork) to Brazilian cuts of meat, to Dominican dishes. The food was delicious! I mean everything in my plate was great. The portion is also great for the value. The service was amazing as well. The gentleman who served me , explained what I can choose as far as meats , sides and also explained the different sizes they offer. Overall , I truly enjoyed this spot. Spot is good. Not sure it survives in Nutley tbh but fingers crossed it does. Half to do with the type of food the other half is they had what seems like way too many people working. For a small place it seems unsustainable. Great selection of meats rice and other treats. They have coffee options and desserts. One problem I see is the the to go pans they use are very short and it seems you get more than you actually do. I've never seen a place like this use such a small foil pan. Between the small portion and the Yuka being very bland I had to lower my score. read more

I just finished a delicious lunch from Latin Point! I was warmly greeted as I perused the day's offerings which were a wide range that changes daily. There is an $8.99 special that includes a meat, rice and beans. I opted for the stewed goat (that platter was $11.99) with red beans and yellow rice. Everything tasted fantastic! The goat was very tender and packed with flavor. The rice and beans were very tasty too. The meal was very filling and I enough enough for lunch tomorrow. What a great Latin restaurant to open in town. Place is very clean and the staff is courteous. I chose their pulled pork (pernil) and yellow rice with red beans. It was like eating at home. Delicious!! Not overly salty or seasoned. It was perfect and hit the right spot. They will have daily specials, so if looking the" arroz con gandules", I suggest calling before going. I don't know how this place has 5 stars because the food was definitely not 5 star worthy. Maybe family reviewed them. I ordered pernil, rice, beans, yuka and three empanadas. First off the chicken empanadas were not edible. The chicken inside was so dry it was like eating sawdust. The pernil was dry as well and the rice had no flavor. To make things worse I was charged $25.95 for a large pernil. The menu said $16 but I didn't notice that until I returned home. On a positive note the beans and yuka were fine. I remember when this was the abandoned deli that remained closed for years. I've been living here at Nutley for almost 7 years. The food here was absolutely delicious and the staff here was accommodating. I ordered the chivo (goat) and the food was amazing. I will definitely be back for breakfast. I've been here twice already - first for take out and today for dine in. Both experiences were great from the service to the food! The portions were very generous and the taste really good. I ordered the oxtail both times and they consistently tasted yummy. I wish I took photos but they won't do justice to the taste - you have to try it to know. My mom got the stewed pork - it was also very yummy. They also gave us soup on the house which I'll be happy to order next time in a bigger portion since it was just what I wanted on a rain day. We were happy to see this place finally opened. They did a great job remodeling the inside and outside of the building. The food was fantastic. Very flavorful and super tender. We tried the Pernil, Beef Stew and Pepper Steak. Each plate came with a large portion of white or yellow rice and black or red beans. The portions are very generous and what they charge you is very reasonable. We wanted to try the meat soup but they ran out. I can only assume I was talking to the owners and they are lovely people. Tonight was our first time trying Latin Point. The food was very delicious. $37 for three generously portioned meals and we are all stuffed. The space is nice inside and very inviting. The staff is nice too. They were sold out of the stewed goat, which I hope will be on a regular rotation. That being said, will happily go back and try other offerings. Welcome to Nutley!
