The bill for the 2 drinks from the bar
Nancy P.

It was my first time in this place. I came to celebrate few friends birthday, unfortunately my friend and I arrived 30 minutes before the reservation time and we have to wait by the bar. Since we were going to drink and eat by the pre-menu on our table we didn't want to order anything from the bar, I ask the bartender for a glass of water which he didn't seem happy with. Remember they get tips from the orders here. BTW he took forever to get me the water. At the end I just felt bad and ordered 2 drinks for me and my friend. My point is he couldn't be more amicable? Anyways the place was fun as the night progressed more people came and we had a good time. The pre-menu list was very limited and so were the drinks. Only Sangria and house wine The live music was ok, I like the DJ better.

This place has been around for very long time. Its a good spot to go for lunch because its slow but has a good atmosphere. Lunch prices are also good and decent options. I had few things here before but the fish was a bit smelly. I would stick with arroz dishes, vaca frita, or the cuban sandwich.

They had live music and a good menu. The service was prompt. We came in a Thursday so it was empty ish. We had a table for 15

A lively place with live entertainment. Our server was friendly. We were a large party. We had reservations and were seated right away. We ordered pitchers of Sangria. For apps, we ordered croquettes and Bandera Guajira. The apps were good. They came out quickly. For dinner, I had the chicken steak with one side, tostones. The chicken steak was large. I was disappointed because the price I paid I would expect two sides. Food had good taste. For dessert, we were able to bring a birthday cake. We were not charged a fee to cut it. Music is great. You have room to dance. Fun place to celebrate a special occasion.

Had a great time on a Thursday, but not very packed like the weekends! Great spot for drinks, music and all kinds of food you can easily share! Service was great too! Definitely will return!

Visited this place yesterday afternoon. It's a very nice location with beautiful artifacts and great food. Service was quick, attentive, efficient. My only complaint was that the lettuce looked like it wasn't washed and taken out if the container and thrown on the plate. I only ate the avocado. The fried fish was also a little bland. I will be returning but during late hours to enjoy the music. I don't drink soda or liquor. I had to ask for water numerous times. Like DUDE... just leave the pitcher! The desert was on point! Delicious. I like that they charge automatic gratuity on your bill but mention it in bold letters on your receipt, so you know not to add more unless you wanted to. Other restaurants should take notes.

Came here for lunch. Big portions at a very good price. Flavor was really good. Will come back to try other stuff. 9.99 steak, with rice and beans. Can't beat that!

My friends and I came in on a Saturday evening. We tried making a reservation the night before for a group of 8 but were told they were full and we'd have to come in the day of as a walk-in & wait. Not a problem. We did find out the day of that they didn't take reservations? Regardless, we were sat in under 10 minutes after being told there was an 1.5 HR wait. No complaints there! Let's start with the drinks, the margaritas were on the sweeter side but very strong. I originally ordered a tamarind margarita but they were out and tried substituting this with strawberry without asking me. I ended up requesting a pina marg in place of the tamarind. After the margs we did a pitcher of a mango-guava sangria. Again, a little sweet but very tasty and strong. We'd definitely order it again. The food was very good. We ordered the Havanero appetizer and loved the little fried Ham & cheese bites, the corn fritters were also tasty. We really enjoyed the app. We also ordered tostones rellenos de camerones and ropa vieja. Both were very good. For entrees, we ordered the ropa vieja, Salmon Havanero, 2 churrascos, and a bistec de palomilla. We all really enjoyed our entrees. One skirt steak was bland, the other had really great flavor and melted in your mouth. We also ordered dessert, the coppa catalana which was phenomenal. My favorite bite of the evening and the creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was a bit gritty and wasn't as creamy as I'd expect it to be, it still had good flavor. There was a live band and a full dance floor! This is what we came for and the atmosphere did not disappoint. We will definitely be returning.

Two and one half of black beans. "EXTRA SIDE".

This is actually my 3rd time visiting in the last 3 weeks. The first time, I picked up a to go order of "Pechuga a la plancha" with white rice and black beans for my daughter. According to my 9 years old daughter, it was delicious. The second time, We had a family get together and we decided to go there. Once again, to be fair,I didn't have a change to eat that day. BUT the first thing that stood out, was fact that they DO NOT give you "Pan con Mantequilla". Being that this is a Cuban Restaurant that is expected from them. I asked the waiter, if I could buy an order Pan con mantequilla. He said I CAN NOT, since they don't have bread for that. I was very disappointed. Needless to say my family ordered kids meals, steak sandwich and a steak with rice and black bean. They don't have "pan con mantequilla" bread, BUT they have it for a Steak Sandwich. This is odd because is the same type of bread. The restaurant is looks very nice and they had a guy playing live music. The family loved that food and the service was also good. On today's visit, I went with my girlfriend. She ordered the Oxtail and she was going to ask for rice and beans, but the bar tender/waiter told her ONLY one side is included. This was also weird because it's always two sides. I ordered a "Pechuga de pollo empalizado" with rice and I also asked for an order of black beans. According to my girlfriend her food was AMAZING. on the other hand the size of my pechuga empanizada looked exactly like the pechuga from last week's kids menu. I was also NOT impressed with the flavor nor size of the pechuga. It was cut REALLY THIN and the rice and the beans I was only able to get two and a half spoons of beans, everything else was juice. I got the bill. The first thing I looked for, was for price of the two and a half spoons of black beans. But I couldn't find it. To my surprise, it's already included with the original order. This means that either the bartender did not know the menu or we were misinformed in order to get us to buy something else. I would NEVER know.

Food was so good, had a great time with my family, they had live music, pretty cool, waiters were all super nice.

Argentine cuisine is a blend of influences from the Italian and Spanish immigrants with its chief national product, beef. They say the reason Argentine steak is so good is that its cattle graze on the country's plentiful pampas grass, rather than being grain-fed as American cattle are. The result is leaner, more flavorful, and more nutritious beef. One such establishment is on Moonachie Road in Moonachie, where my partners, our friends and I decided on Saturday dinner. Reservations were easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this cozy, modern interior of Tango Steak as first-timers, we were greeted by the host and got a table right away. We were here 3 years ago when it was El Tango Argentina Grill. The vibe has completely changed. It's now darker and louder, not family-friendly. Music was at a decent volume and does seem to increase as it gets later, giving it a lounge type. As an appetizer, we started with Beef and Chicken Empanadas as well as Calamares (Calamari). For our main meal, we decided on the Extrana (Skirt Steak) with Mashed Potatoes & Chimichurri Sauce and Tango Burger accompanied with Fries. Food was good, not awesome. Our appetizers were tasty and well seasoned. The Skirt Steaks tasted fantastic with the Chimichurri Sauce. The Mashed Potatoes had a nice texture. However, some of us asked that their Tango Burgers be made medium but came out well done. The Fries were salty and very dry. Our service was horrendous, but our server was Nathaly who was accommodating and apologetic. Some of us had gotten their appetizer faster than others. The duration between our appetizers and the main meal was an hour. The food was not cheap given the portions received and the 20% gratuity added automatically to the bill. With insult to injury, their valet attendant charged $5. Definitely not what we expected, which is why we sadly can't recommend this place.

This place has a parking lot next door but it seems that this lot belongs to an auto repair shop not the restaurant, it has tow-away signs but we parked in the lot because it was after hours. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables, the music is low, the decor is low-key with some Winter motiffs. I told my wife that I was expecting more of an Island/Caribbean decoration. My wife ordered the Asopaó de Camarones (Shrimp Soupy Rice) & got Spaghetti with Dominican Salami, Tostones & Avocado. Hot tea to drink. I expected the Spaghetti to come with Dominican Salami as an option (this is how Dominican Spaghetti is prepared and served) but unfortunately it does not, the Spaghetti is plain & adding the Dominican Salami is extra. My wife's Asopaó was full of shrimps, very tasty she loved it as did i. My Spaghetti with Dominican Salami was pretty good. The Spaghetti were al dente enough (not too soft nor too hard), flavorful, Dominican Salami chunks were hearty (I was hoping that the Salami would be stewed but it was fried instead), the avocado was fresh & unblemished, & the tostones were perfectly golden fried & crispy. Ashley & Stacey were our servers and they were very friendly, full of smiles, on-point & honest. I said honest, because after paying the bill we asked for a pen to add a tip and she explained to us thar the tip (which is an automatic 15%) is already included. Which surprised us, usually tip is included with a party of 6 or more, we are only a couple. My wife and I always tip between 10% & 20% depending on the service of course. But no matter how bad, horrible was the service we tip at least the 10%. We detest restaurants that force us to tip. We believe we have the right to give a certain amount of our hard earned money ourselves, without forcing our hand. Because of this practice of including the automatic 15% tip, no matter the size of the dining party, I give a rating of 3 stars. If it wasn't for this forceful tipping, I would have given this place an easy 5 stars. So beware when dining in at La Cocina de Cristina, while the food is amazing, their tipping policy will force you to shell out 15% of your bill, whether the service was good or not. We will NOT dine in at this place ever again. If anything, I will order via Grubhub (which allows me to tip accordingly) or order take-out.
