This place makes up their own name for things. If you call and ask for grilled chicken they will literally serve you roasted chicken and tell you " well we cook it on the grill so it's really grilled chicken" .... like what? I go on the website now to order food.. it literally shows a photo of "moro" which is black rice and black means so i ordered it.. after driving 30 mins to the resturant and waiting in traffic for 10mins for my $30 meal. I get home and see they gave me rice and gondales so i call them to let them know they made a mistake... mind you... the owner with a nasty attitude is arguing with me telling me rice and gondales is moro... i mean you can't even make this up. In what world is rice and gonadles moro? Maybe to you and your family it is for whatever reason but when you go to a resturant and you order "moro" you get black rice and black beans. It's pretty common sense. & you have the owner arguing with me back and fourth telling me he's in the resturant business for 30 years and moro is rice and gondales... i mean come on. YOU ARE WRONG. Wow wow wow wow! I am a repeat customer here (as this is a local spot for me) but this is the first time I am posting about the food. I typically order their entrees like mofongo or pechuga de pollo a la parilla, but this was the first time I ordered their mangu. This mangu felt authentic and made me feel like I was in the Dominican Republic. I got all of the toppings on it, fried egg, pickled red onions and the salami. The mangu itself was so creamy and delicious! Mangu can be had, morning, afternoon or at dinner time and Sofrito did not skip a beat. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Dominican food. read more

Swung by to grab dinner with my Dominican friend. He says these guys are Dominican too. He was very helpful in ordering, since I'm not currently capable of telling the differences between the different cuisines of Latin America. He ordered morir soñado for me, which translates to "die dreaming". It's a mixture of condensed milk, orange juice, and vanilla extract according to my buddy. It's quite refreshing, delicious, and reminiscent of an orange creamsicle. Definitely something I would order again. For my entree, I got the whole roasted chicken. It came with a side of rice and beans. For $14, it was a lot of food. The chicken was very well seasoned, but the white meat was a little dried out. The rice and beans went very well with the sauce served with the chicken, which appeared to be lime juice, chili flakes, and the seasoning they used on the chicken. It wasn't the best food I've ever had but it was solid. I definitely wanna get more morir soñado though. read more

Over priced, took over 35 mins to make a chicken and cheese quesadilla, when i asked how much longer it would take because its been 30 mins since i placed the order i was greeted with an attitude, then after all that annoyance I finally get my food just to see the quesadilla is trash , super soggy like they didnt care. 2 stars for the 2 pieces of chicken I got with my rice!!! Horrible experience at this restaurant. I'm starving after paying $9 for lil bit of rice and 2 lil pieces of chicken! This is my last Hispanic meal I will eat for rest of my life!!!just cause of the experience of not getting treated equally. While sitting down and eating, Hispanic guy buys the same thing but gets 4 points pieces of chicken! Like in front of my face she was serving the customer with so much more food. The food is decent but not consistently. The service is terrible. The girl serving has a bad attitude and provides very poor customer service. The music is so loud you have to scream your order to the associate. They're never on time for lunch. If your looking for Dominican cuisine I recommend Elsas in Teaneck, they have pretty good consistent seasoning and they always provide friendly service. Ate from here three times to give them a fair shot. I had the pernil, whole chicken, fried pork chops with tostones, rice and beans. Everytime the meat was dry and overcooked. The rice was ok, tostones lacked flavor but I liked the beans at least. Won't get from here again. Three strikes you're out. Overpriced for what you get. Try harder guys. read more

The Pollo a la Parilla with the Mojito sauce they give was sooooo good- i had to call them personally and thank them and leave a review for how delicious it is! Wow! Must order! They have great shakes/ fresh oj too and soups for which I've ordered before when I was feeling under the weather and decided to try something else this time- and so glad I did. A decent homestyle place with nice staff and homemade Caribbean specialties. Mofongo con queso was dense but good. The rice and beans were really good. The fresh passion fruit was good, even though it was obviously concentrate. Prices are reasonable, too. read more

I just had my food which I ordered and picked up and I have to say, this was one of the best sopa de pollo I've had. Highly recommend!

This place provides the most socially incompetent and poor customer service ever. First of all they all stare at you like you have two heads when you walk in, no smile, they did not even bring water to table, we had to ask. It wasn't clear if you order at the register or if they come and take your order if they see you are sitting at a table. We just grabbed a seat as the place was empty but they surely didn't flinch to seat us when we opened the door. The place was empty as I already stated, I placed two orders - one steak had to be made fresh, the other was the pre-made ropa vieja daily special. Given the ropa vieja was already made, one would think that once the steak was ready they would bring out BOTH orders at the same time. Oh no, of course not. Not only did they not bring out the 2nd order but they FORGOT. Clearly they were not listening to my very clear order as they were completely uninterested in their new patrons. I had to actually REMIND Mr Rico Suave for the second order of food. So my guest had to start eating without me. It is a basic detail any and all restaurants generally follow. SERVE GUESTS THAT ARE DINING TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME! Having said all of that, the steak was seasoned well and the portion was more than adequate. The ropa vieja, rice and beans were also flavorful and the portion was also very generous. I believe I was also over charged but was too annoyed to even bother discussing anything with them at that point. The only reason I came to this hole in the wall is because Pasteles y Algo Mas (which is under new management and serving up fabulous authentic food with a SMILE & WARMTH) was closed! Although the food at Sofrito was certainly tasty, there are too many options in the area to settle for such horrid customer service! Get it together Sofito! read more

Wish there was an option for negative zero. Another man took the incorrect order AGAIN, when I called to tell the owner David that Anthony took the incorrect order they tried to switch it up on me like it was MY FAULT!! This will be the LAST time I am calling for an order. I never leave negative comments but they cannot run the place correctly. He hung up on me immediately when I told him I wasn't looking to waste his time or mine and that all I wanted was to notify him of how his place is been run. I love this place, however the older lady that works here (maybe one of the owners) is extremely rude. She either has resting bitch face or just hates life. Every time you walk in she just stares at you with a dirty look, I make it a point to be extra friendly with her and leave large tips but she's just is rude. A few months ago, I threw a last minute party. 20 guest turned into 45 and they were awesome to us. The manager quickly called me back on a Friday, for catering on a Saturday. I ordered, fried chicken, potato salad, and Rice. IT was all delicious, taste fresh, and made right on time. I would highly recommend. read more

Last time I order from here. Gave them another shot. Ordered 4 sides. 4 SIDES. And they messed up the order. I even picked it up. And I had to wait for them to make one more thing. Had ordered two past deliveries prior and both orders took an hour and came incomplete. They just can't seem to get it right. Every time I have ordered, some item has been left out and delivery takes FOREVER! Although breakfast begins at 8 am, they don't have the delivery guy come in until 11 am. That doesn't make sense that they don't offer a delivery on time with when food is served. I called to order today at 10 am and was told delivery is not until 11 am. I called back at 11 am and put in my order. Delivery came an hour later at 12, even though I am 3 blocks away. After it came, they left an item back at the store that they said they would send me right away. An hour later, now 1 pm, it still has not arrived. I just called and they said they would send it right away. I am still waiting. They seem so disorganized and they are far too slow to meet orders. I will not order from here again. read more
