Honestly, the service here was pretty bad. The staff had a lot of attitude and didn't even say a simple hello, which was very off-putting. I don't understand why the customer service is so poor. The food was okay, but with service like that, I would definitely think twice before coming back. It's also pretty expensive for what you get. I have been ordering from here for a few years now. Good service. The food is really good and they are pretty consistent. Always have some good music too. The place is small so better for take out/catering. The salsa verde (green sauce) is really delicious too! Fresh salsa with lots of flavor and a bit of heat. My favorites here are the beef empanadas which are flavorful and are not cheap with the meat or dry, the lemonade which is tasty, fresh squeezed, sweet and yummy dessert -tres leches- moist cake soaked in milks, and the well seasoned Penil that's not dry at all with yellow rice/red beans and sweet maduros! Was led to go into this place by the five star reviews. I made an order to go. Was quite disappointed. I ordered the Sancocho a small one. Accordingly, it's supposed to come with white rice and corn, it did not. The Sancocho was not up to par. I had fatty pieces of meat, which was very disappointing. With that said that means that there was practically no meat in there. The morir Sonando, a flop. It was made with orange juice from a container and not fresh squeezed orange juice as it should be. Tried a chicken empanada. The filling was good. However, if you do go for empanadas, try to go early in the day where they're still nice and fresh. If you go into the evening, they are not fresh and if you want them fresh, you're gonna have to wait for them because they fry them while you wait. I had catfish and rice. The fish was salty and the fish was mushy. I will say though, the beans were perfect and the rice was good. I wish they offered sides like pickled cabbage or onions like other Colombian or Guatemalan places. I don't know if I'd come here again but I also know it's a small space so they can only do so much. Came down with nasty bug and needed some good soup and maybe extra goodies for a few days at home. My fellow office staff have ordered from here numerous times... so I thought this was good time to try. I stayed tucked in with my low grade fever and spent the $35. Ordered large chicken soup (comes with white rice), chicken empanadas.... and flattened hot bread. soup was like my mamis... beyond delicious. Lots herbs, big pieces chicken, potatoes, carrots...I instantly felt 100x better after a few spoonfuls. Nice Size for.$10. I'm sorry I wasn't alert enough to take pics of everything... but trust me this place did not disappoint. In hindsight, I would've saved the $15 in fees .. the trip would've been well worth it. Good for the next day left over lunch deal but overall maybe I'm just not a fan of latino carb-heavy, low veggie to meat ratio meals in general as they're just not as healthy but yeah won't go out of my way for this one. The last time I ordered the San Cocho. The stew only had a few pieces of meat, 2 small pieces of potato and no corn. Also ordered side of beans in a cup and only a 1/3 were beans the rest liquid. I decided to give them one more try but this is the last time i will buy any food from this establishment. I ordered chicken, rice and beans. The chicken was so small and really dry to the point it was inedible. The tostones I bought we also mushy, undercooked and saturated with oil, probably because the fryer wasn't hot enough. I know restaurants are struggling and trying to save money but I'd rather pay little more and get better quality food. The chef looked miserable and it was evident in the food. I ordered for delivery and got their Thursday's special of pernil with white rice and beans. The pernil tasted like I was eating salt straight from the packet. The rice wasn't even enough to mask how salty the meat was. I put all the meat in the side of beans to try to get the sauce to wash off or overpower the salt and that helped a little bit. If I didn't spend the money on it and if I didn't hate wasting food, I probably would've thrown it out. read more

This breaks my heart because it's a Dominican restaurant in Fort lee like you would expect amazing! When they first opened up they were so consistent and delicious. Now... Food is burnt, one time I was sent cold maduros and the food could be warmer seems unhealthy the temperature it normally is. And the sad part is I kept ordering for delivery in hopes that maybe it was just a bad day. I love Dominican food and they make it they just have become so careless many times they don't have any more food two hours before closing and let's not talk about delivery. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT ORDER FOR DELIVERY! Ive waited three hours for food. 3 hours. And it's not like they made it fresh it was already sitting there. This place has decent food. In Fort Lee, the land of Asian cuisine, it is refreshing to have other options. My complaint about this place is their service. They get orders wrong, send orders with missing items and THEY TAKE WAY TO LONG. I could walk to them from my job in 5 mins, but it takes them 90 minutes to delivery to a location .5 mile away. There are so many options for this type of food, outside Fort Lee, that it may just be worth the travel and avoid the headache of this places poor service. Man I really wanted to like this spot. I use to work at the Walgreens in this little shopping plaza. If this place was there back then I would have been super fat. It use to be a Subways. The space itself is very small so it's hard to make any space for a seating area. This place did well by adding two tables with three seats in each. Then there is the food counter where you order. The menu is very pretty and easy to read. The people are very nice and greet you with smiles. This place has a nice vibe. The issue is that the chicken empanadas did not taste like anything. The chicken was not seasoned one bit. No salt no pepper nothing. It was just so bland. The empanada itself could have been fried a bit harder to be more golden brown but it was still very good. It's just the inside that was bad. The cheese empanada was not hot. The little warmer they have for the empanadas doesn't keep them at a warm enough temperature. The cheese was not melted. Wow! I just had a really delicious dinner from Punta Cana. I ordered a family combo of steak with onion, beef empanadas, and sancocho. Nothing was less than yummy and good. I really wanted their mondongo but not available on Wednesdays- no worries, the lovely lady who took my order said tomorrow (Thursday) so I'm going back to get some. What a great addition to the neighborhood. Everything was packaged well, neat, and the restaurant was clean. My hubby went in to pick up my food and said the lady thought there was not enough steak in my order and added more- so there's quality control too ;) I had a lot of sancocho growing up in the Bronx at my friend's homes and the sancocho from Punta Cana is absolutely in the top 3. Kind of scared my friends might see my review and tell me I offended their abuelas but credits to the chef!!! And just call the restaurant directly to place the order. As a Dominican, this place feels and tastes 100% authenticThey food was great and the habichuelas are to die for. The chicken is well seasoned and for 20 bucks I can feed my whole family. They give you quite a lot of food which compared to the heights, I would spend close to 40 dollars after taxes. One thing though is that apparently they don't always have that pollo al horno. Either they don't have it ready and takes an hour or so to cook, or they don't have any if you call later in the day. Kind of absurd but knowing Dominicans they prefer to not have enough food to sell than to have to throw it out or give it away. Another little problem I came across was that I called once for delivery 45 minutes before they closed and they said that they didn't have a delivery driver. And that was pretty recently. Maybe a week ago. I prefer for places that do this to not even say they do delivery, because it's a huge disappointment when you're expecting to get what you're being told as per the menu's "delivery" notice. Still not a deal breaker for me because at this point in time they don't have a lot of competition nearby. However, If more Dominican spots open up in my vicinity (I already know of malecón that's on Anderson) then I'll have more options and might not be going back to punta cana. Update: So I ordered takeout, and I must say, punta cana has done something most take out places should already be doing. Instead of giving them your card over the phone, the delivery driver brings a little machine where you swipe your card. But if you're ordering over the phone (as I've had to do for my kids) they are more than willing to take your card over the phone. Good Dominican food in Fort Lee. This place is located in the strip mall near the bridge. It's crowded here most of the time and parking is kind of difficult. The food here is pretty good and their combos are pretty reasonably priced. I tried the beef stew on a couple of occasions. The meat is tender and the portion size is pretty large. The lunch combo I tried, included a heaping portion of rice (your choice of white or yellow rice), a pretty big portion of beef stew, red or black beans, and a salad. All of this for $8. Not bad. I think their lunch specials run from about 11am until 3pm or so. They offer dinner combos as well at a slightly higher price. Sometimes they run out of food for the specials though, later in the afternoon. I've been back here a few times and I'm interested in trying some of their other dishes.
