First time here ordering takeout lunch for 4 people. I'm noticing a pattern in some restaurants that they don't post all of the prices for menu items! Personally, I like to know what a food item costs before I order it and I don't want to have to ask! Arrived around 11:30am and honesty, some of the food in the steam table looked like it was leftover from the day before. Not saying it was, but it looked reheated and dry. Not as many choices as I'm used to so I ordered 1 pernil lunch, 1 pollo al horno and 2 pollo guisado, along with 4 empanadas. The pollo al horno looked like it was from yesterday and I wouldn't have ordered it if I didn't have a lunch guest with a simple palate! The pollo guisado looked decent. I only tasted the pernil with white rice, black beans, and maduros. It was okay. I like the way they slice their maduros sliced the long way! The chicken empanada I had wasn't bad. I'm not running back, but it's not a place I would avoid!

A great Dominican restaurant! I was stopping by the bike shop across the street and gladly stopped by when my son and I saw that they had an outdoor seating. Interior is small but nicely done with cool menu wall and cafe chic vibe. We ordered carne asada plate w/ a side salad (included) and a chicken sandwich. Also ordered a smoothie. The owner threw in a large size salad for us when he saw the working lady who spoke limited English mistakenly added a large salad when I was choosing small side salad that comes with the carne asada plate. He winked at me and told her to not charge it. Very much appreciated. We enjoyed the steak very much - not too tough and very well seasoned. The chicken sandwich was not dry at all though slightly lacking in flavor. Rice and beans were delicious with the salsa they gave. We sat to the side where they had this little lot so we could people watch from a safe distance, under the umbrella shade. Server was attentive and checked on us to make sure we were good. Only downside was, well, they had this outdoor speaker (one of them with bright light woofer rings that flash and change colors) and this guy had it on rather loud. Not too bad, but wished he had chosen the music and volume a bit more tastefully to accommodate diners. He was nice though. I can see that this is a nice hidden gem - will stop by again whenever I'm in the area.

I just added the aguacate... delicious!!

Ok..new to area.... in discovery mode. Haven't had home cooked meal.. spanish food.. in while. Decided order from this latin restaurant as its been highly recommended. It's a Hit! Flavored perfectly. Nice amounts of food... had enough for dinner and lunch tmrw. Chicken fell off bone. Beans almost as good as my mom's who is best cook on planet. I'm so glad to know there's somewhere i can go to to feel At Home.

I had a cake tasting at Palmero's next door and I haven't had lunch yet. So why not? Walked in and the worker there recommended me the Bendeja Paisa (I am probably spelling this wrong). That is my to go dish for any Colombian restaurant but I wasn't seeking anything that heavy. Food: I ended up ordering their chicken stew lunch with rice and beans. I kinda felt I got a lot less meat compare to the typical plate I get served at other Spanish places. Probably because I came in AFTER the lunch rush. But the dish was delicious. Price: I was charged $11 for the lunch special. Kinda on the pricey side in my opinion. Service: It wasn't a formal dining event for me. So not much comment on this. Parking: There is plenty of metered parking on main street. Just beware! The meter maids are hungry. My fiance got a ticket for going over 5 mins!

I stumbled upon this establishment when I was searching for a Latin restaurant in Grubhub. Last…read morenight we decided against delivery and opted to drive out and dine in. This place has a parking lot next door but it seems that this lot belongs to an auto repair shop not the restaurant, it has tow-away signs but we parked in the lot because it was after hours. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables, the music is low, the decor is low-key with some Winter motiffs. I told my wife that I was expecting more of an Island/Caribbean decoration. My wife ordered the Asopaó de Camarones (Shrimp Soupy Rice) & got Spaghetti with Dominican Salami, Tostones & Avocado. Hot tea to drink. I expected the Spaghetti to come with Dominican Salami as an option (this is how Dominican Spaghetti is prepared and served) but unfortunately it does not, the Spaghetti is plain & adding the Dominican Salami is extra. My wife's Asopaó was full of shrimps, very tasty she loved it as did i. My Spaghetti with Dominican Salami was pretty good. The Spaghetti were al dente enough (not too soft nor too hard), flavorful, Dominican Salami chunks were hearty (I was hoping that the Salami would be stewed but it was fried instead), the avocado was fresh & unblemished, & the tostones were perfectly golden fried & crispy. Ashley & Stacey were our servers and they were very friendly, full of smiles, on-point & honest. I said honest, because after paying the bill we asked for a pen to add a tip and she explained to us thar the tip (which is an automatic 15%) is already included. Which surprised us, usually tip is included with a party of 6 or more, we are only a couple. My wife and I always tip between 10% & 20% depending on the service of course. But no matter how bad, horrible was the service we tip at least the 10%. We detest restaurants that force us to tip. We believe we have the right to give a certain amount of our hard earned money ourselves, without forcing our hand. Because of this practice of including the automatic 15% tip, no matter the size of the dining party, I give a rating of 3 stars. If it wasn't for this forceful tipping, I would have given this place an easy 5 stars. So beware when dining in at La Cocina de Cristina, while the food is amazing, their tipping policy will force you to shell out 15% of your bill, whether the service was good or not. We will NOT dine in at this place ever again. If anything, I will order via Grubhub (which allows me to tip accordingly) or order take-out.

I happened to be in hackensack this past weekend and had a hankering for chicharron and tostones…read more I wound up getting their picadera (sampler) plate and it was off the chain. The chicharron, longaniza, and chicken were fried to perfection and the tostones were good too. I prefer my tostones a little crisper which is the only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 but that's just my preference. The place is beautifully decorated with dominican and it is very clean and well put together. Very nice vibe inside.

Once you enter you place your order in front of the hot lunch spread. I ended up getting the Pernil ($13) which was alright, maybe because I'm spoiled from having Dominican food in Washington Heights/city. The Maduro ($1.80) was a bit dry, which kinda looks like it from my photo. I'm thinking it was an off day. I may try again. * Street parking * Indoor dining

They even had Coco Rico which I have not had since I left NYC in 92. BTW the flan was incredible. I really loved the food experience. Portions are spot on. It is like a bodega shop like I grew up with in Washington heights. Nice and welcoming. Very homey and I liked it. Nice place for an impromptu meal. Service needs a little help...My girl could be friendlier and provide service with smile versus the standoffish demeanor she had. You want me to be a repeat customer right? You want me to come back right? Then great me with a smile and serve me with a smile. When you open a restaurant this is primo important! Could be a language barrier thing but if someone can pass this along I will only take one star off because the food was delicious. Worth going to but my girl needs to up the service game por favor.
