Bakery

So I came here with my mom, my sister, and my brother-in-law. We stopped by for some coffee and breakfast. It was my first time here; my sister's been before. When you walk in, you're welcomed by a beautifully decorated café/bakery. It feels very welcoming, and the energy is amazing. I don't know how to describe it--very farm-like and adorable. Right next to all the baked goods, they had so many delicious pastries I'd love to try. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant, which was delicious. I also got a coffee, which was very good. Overall, I had a great experience there and highly recommend it. They sell their own cups, so you can get a discounted refill of coffee or any of their teas, which is nice. So if you're ever in downtown Garland, definitely check them out.

Wow what a hidden gem. This great spot is only a few minutes drive from the Harley Davidson dealership in town. I could see myself taking a nice ride and stopping here for lunch. They have fantastic sandwiches. It is not just the bakery. The coffee is great. The service is amazing and the food is fresh. I will be back.

What a cute little bakery/cafe in downtown Garland. I didn't get to try any of their food, but I did grab an iced coffee and some of their sweet treats. Their coffee was good, but basic. Nothing outstanding about it, but I have to rave about their sweets. The moisture and texture of their cookies were on point! And their cheesecake was great as well. I'll definitely be back to try everything else they have to offer. Their staff was nice and attentive, and I was served right away. The ambiance is definitely casual, family friendly, and a great place to hangout.

Great bakery, Ambiance is casual relaxed. Chicken salad over Tuna. Salads are giant. Close to the square.

Never been here before and asked them to custom make a drink similar to a caramel Frappuccino. Was NOT disappointed - tasted so much more "natural". Very friendly staff and clean environment as well.

I've been meaning to check out Latham Bakery for a while. I tried a slice of German chocolate cake and a coffee. The bakery is right off the newly refurbished downtown Garland Square, across from a hemp shop. It's clean and spacious with a lot of cafe table seating. They have a full menu of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Their customer cake prices are reasonable. The cake I had was deliciously sweet and moist with an almost fudge-like frosting. A bit sweet for breakfast, but I have no regrets. This place would be perfect for working except the Wi-Fi connection was a bit spotty. The barista was friendly and kind. I'll definitely be back!

Latham Bakery is a delightful little cafe in downtown Garland. I've been there a few times and cannot rave enough about the food! Sandwiches, baked goods, drinks, all fantastic. Definitely worth it to check out if you are in the area - or make it a destination and check out nearby vintage shops.

Well, talk about a hidden gem. I had this place bookmarked but could not tell you where I heard…read moreabout it. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

I have yet to try any of their food options, but I have had a chance to try both their iced and hot lattes! I can confidently say that Cafe Frida knows what they are doing when it comes to a good cup of caffeine! Sometimes, especially when ordering something with a bit more sweetness, coffee or espresso can lose it's taste, and as someone who craves the taste of coffee and espresso, Cafe Frida def makes sure all flavors are balanced! (just a fun fact) They seem pretty proud of that fact too, considering there's now a giant cowboy hat sculpture, "The Big Hat," right across the street. It's impossible to miss. Anyway, we weren't there for hats. We were there for pizza. First, a public service announcement. Figure out what you want before you walk in because the menu is only available through a QR code, and it is awful. You scroll. Then you scroll some more. Then somehow you're still scrolling. It feels less like ordering dinner and more like reading the terms and conditions for a mortgage. The two of us ordered a large pepperoni pizza, which turned out to be ambitious. We ate leftovers for days. Next time I'd definitely order the smaller size. My only real complaint about the pizza itself was the pepperoni. There was just TOO MUCH of it. Sure, I could have asked for "light pepperoni", but then I'd be paying full price for less topping, and that just goes against my personal philosophy. I'd love to see a "light pepperoni" option priced accordingly. ALSO not it is the good and greasy cupping pepperoni, kinda spicy. The pizza was also a little unevenly prepared. About half had a thicker crust while the other half was noticeably thinner. I definitely preferred the thinner side. Service was perfectly fine, the bathrooms were clean and nice, and the pizza was good overall. Just be prepared for the QR code marathon before you get to enjoy it.

Asked for water, as I don't drink soft drinks or tea and the young man told me "we don't give cups for water, what do you want to drink". I said nothing to drink then and got my bottled water from the car. People should be able to have water with their meal, even if you have to charge for the cup or sell bottled water. Just my opinion. Sandwich was tasty but I didn't taste/see much cheese, supposedly Swiss? O rings were good and crispy, fair portion. Side of cheese sauce was TINY, fyi. Service at the counter was friendly other than the refusing a cup for water. Manager/owner came thru dining room to check on customers, good move. I didn't like the credit card surcharge (without being told or signage advising) as I had cash. 15% tip for counter service with the CC surcharge made my sandwich and o rings $18 and I had to provide my own water. Pricey lunch. Dining room could use a good sweeping, washing and painting. Both restrooms had signs on the door that they were out of order, but employees used them? Food and service 4 stars, minus a star for unannounced surcharge and no water. I would go again but not dine in, so I can get water and use the restroom.
