The overall experience felt very much like they want to get you in and out super quickly, which is fine. I did not achieve 20/20 in my right eye, in fact it took three additional visits to my eye doctor and steroid drops to get my right eye seeing well at all. My eye doctor told me on my initial follow up with her that she had never seen an eye that looked like my right eye. It looked super fibrous - she took a picture of it to do more research. Complications are to be expected, however I submitted the form to request to have an enhancement done ten weeks ago, paid to get the wet / very specific dilation performed by my eye doctor and still have not heard back on if I am an enhancement candidate. Funny how they could do the initial surgery the same day since it cost over $5k, yet they cannot respond re their "free lifetime enhancement plan" (they tell you they will respond within eight weeks). After this experience, I am now not planning on using them for the enhancement. Such an expensive procedure and "lifetime guarantee" should come with some integrity and accountability. I should have taken my eye doctor's advice and used Mile High Lasik. read more

Overall the experience was okay. Went in for a consultation and found out I was candidate which was excited considering over been considering this procedure for almost ten years now. I will say they were ready to do my surgery within a few days and I had to talk them down because there was no way I was mentally or physically ready that soon. All the girls who work in the office are super nice (shout out to the girly who lent me a tampon from her own bag when I failed as a women). The procedure was quick and painless and you can tell the team works together often. They have everything down so things go smoothly. The only caveat would be I was not a fan of the consult doctor going out of his way to tell me I'm fat without actually having to say it to my face. Long story short he told me to "do some research" on something he thought I might have only for me to come to find out it's fairly common in overweight women who are menstruating, aka me. I just wish he would have said it to my face instead of being cagey. I know I'm fat, he knows I'm fat, just say it. Now I'm a few days post op and feeling well with I'd say at least 75% improvement in my vision. Still some healing to go but I think I made the right decision read more

This was the worst and most traumatic experience of my life. If I could go back and not get lasik and just wear glasses I absolutely would. It's like you're in a Saw movie but you just paid them thousands of dollars to do it to you. They do not give you ANY drugs, no Xanax or anything so you are tragically sober and living in a waking nightmare. I'm a photographer, director, snowboarder, and mountain biker that used to wear glasses. Two years post op- LASIK has permanently ruined my eyes. I went last week because my eye doctor told me I had epithelial ingrowth, for the lasik doctor to tell me I didn't and it was only a dry spot. He then gave me a HALF started (opened) bottle of antibiotics/anti inflammatory to deal with the pain and swelling. Went to another doctor to get a third opinion and they confirmed I DEFINITELY have epithelial ingrowth and have horribly dry eyes. I now need a prokera lens ($1,500) to POSSIBLY make the pain more bearable. Not to mention I already have a high prescription only two years post op. I wasted $4,000 to permanently ruin my eyes. read more

I tried to schedule a consultation through their website on Monday. Set a tentative appointment for Saturday morning. On Wednesday, I got a call (which I missed), email and text saying they changed schedules, so are canceling all Saturday appointments and to call them back to reschedule. I have tried calling two times now and left two messages and have yet to receive a call back. I also looked at their website and Saturday appointments are still available, so it's incredibly frustrating. DO NOT RECOMMEND. ZERO STARS. I had my Lasik Plus surgery in March of 2019. It's now only been two years and I'm back in glasses. I contacted them for an enhancement and was told I do not qualify for an enhancement as it's not "medically" necessary. It wasn't "medically" necessary to get it done in the first place. Anyway I paid $3700 for the procedure and all for nothing. That was 100x more than two pair of glasses for the two years would have been. I basically paid for nothing. read more

I first had lasik a year ago. Everyone was friendly, it was quick & painless, and I got a teacher discount. Seemed to good to be true & unfortunately it was. I had terrible eye site to begin with and I knew the procedure wasn't 100% guaranteed to work. I came back no less than 5 times post procedure because I knew my vision still wasn't 20/20. They tried giving me extra drops because my eyes were so dry that it was making the healing process longer. They even put plugs in. Eventually they said my eye site was 20/20, but this wasn't true. I knew I was still struggling to see at night at with long distances. My husband, who wears classes, could see things I couldn't. I was frustrated because I was told my vision was perfect. At the beginning of this year I paid to see an ophthalmologist for a second opinion. He confirmed I was the 1% lasik didn't work for & that my eye site was -.75. I'm not mad that the procedure wasn't effective; I'm upset I was lied to and told my eyes were perfect when they knew this to be untrue. I would not recommend this facility because of the lack of integrity. read more

I heard about Lasikplus because a couple of my friends went here and loved it. From my initial consultation, I could see why. The staff (mainly Shanell) and Dr Gary were all very nice, professional, and informative. It made my decision quite easy as I came in to get the actual procedure done a few days later ! Dr Straub kept me at ease throughout the procedure as he explained what was going on which made it not scary at all. Johanna was very helpful with after care information, as well. Aside from the staff, the office itself was very neat and tidy, there's a big parking garage nearby, and a neat photo booth wall to take your pictures if you're into that. I finally decided to get lasik, before I went to any place and just trust anyone with my vision, I did a little bit of research on where to go. There were a few places with mixed reviews but one that I found with all positive reviews. So, I went down to LasikPlus in Lakewood to see if I was a candidate and I was. Even though I have horrible vision and a slight astigmatism the people over there were sure my vision would be perfect. I was pretty happy to hear that having such bad eye sight that I would great vision after the procedure was over. Everything went great, the doctors to the receptionist were awesome...it was all round a great experience! I'm super glad I got it done, no more dealing with contacts or glasses! Lifetime warranty!!! Now to tell you how important having great eyesight is for me...there is nothing more important then spinning over an 80' jump and being able to see ur landing. Further more, motocross, wakeboaridng, surfing, ect...will be so much better being able to see clearly and not have to deal with losing a contact. One word to sum it up...Stoked! If ur thinking about doing it just get it done and have the confidence that Dr. Bircham and staff will have u seeing great. I just went in the next day for a follow up and can see 20/20 already! Got my 1-month follow-up after my procedure today. Was in and out in less than 15 mins. As always, everything went smoothly and my entire experience was nothing but pleasant. Dr. told me that my eyes are a bit dry (from me kept forgetting to put drops in throughout the day) BUT my vision is basically 20/20 now and supposed to get even better at 20/15, when my eyes are fully healed. No complaints. Tired of contacts and spur of the moment decided to get lasik. About a two week window to get in. I paid $1600/eye for the wave light. They do have financing options but I don't have that info. Be prepared they do put a lot of pressure on your eye- felt like the viper vs the mountain. I'm disappointed in the level of customer service on so many levels. First and foremost, Dr. Bircham is a smooth, fast-talking Dr who doesn't let you get a word in edgewise. I liken the feeling I get from him to that of a hippified sleazy car salesman. Never asked about my questions or concerns, didn't ask how my eyes felt post-op, nothing. I opened my mouth to say something and he just talked right through me. My vision was pretty terrible after my first operation and he just explained it away with excuses and never asked if what he was saying felt like it matched my experience (and it didn't) but he wouldn't let me speak despite my attempts. He was standing up to leave the room having not even finished talking yet. I had an initial surgery in May that didn't work so I had to wait 6 months to do a "touch-up" which I had yesterday. I had regular appointments each month because my vision was getting worse, and in October, got the go-ahead to reschedule my next surgery for November. I called twice a week for the entire month of October and was told "the Nov. Schedule isn't available yet, but we've put your time and date request here so as soon as it's available, we'll call and confirm" (twice a week for the whole month!). Three weeks of that and the receptionist told me that he's left a note in my folder expressing the urgency (because Nov. 1st was literally the only day in November that I could have the surgery) and he said he even emailed the doctors about getting me on the schedule. Here we are, the Monday of the week of my expected surgery and I call because I have still not heard anything. The woman I spoke with informs me that the calendar was in fact available and they can't get me in until the 13th. They had to get authorization to squeeze me in on the 1st instead. I was pretty pissed that I never heard from anyone to get scheduled. OK, so they give you goggles to sleep in and sun glasses to wear home. For the second surgery, they told me they want me to sleep in the sun glasses because they don't ride up and are more comfortable. Complete B.S. Who wants to sleep in hard sunglasses? They could have just told me they were out of the goggles! Luckily I still had mine from the first op. Finally, their insistence on "checking in" on Facebook was beyond obnoxious. Maybe spend a little more time paying attention to how your patience actually are and less time giving a sh!t about social media pings. The Dr Straub was so-so, just there to do a job I guess... And the Dr. I met with after the surgery was the best of the three. Was actually friendly and asked how I felt. Seems like that's a pretty low standard, but it is what it is. The rest of the staff/techs were fantastic. They definitely made the experience better. read more

So far so good. I had my initial appointment today to get evaluated for the corrective surgery. The location was easy to find and the parking garage was attached to the building (awesome so I don't have to pay to park). Once inside I was greeted, given a tablet with educational video to watch and then brought in for my eval. Everyone who I came in contact with was incredibly helpful, straight forward, and made sure I was at ease. The doctor finished up with me and said I'm good to go for the lasik. So I've got that scheduled. The price was reasonable, about what I expected (with my terrible prescription it was going to be in upwards to $2,000 each eye, but I scored an awesome military/doctor/ teacher/LEO discount of 20%). It's all being paid for by my HSA. I'm excited. Anyway, thanks for the appointment, and looking forward to the end result (hopefully I'll be rocking 20/20 or better for the first time in my life). UPDATE: I had the procedure done and months later I'm doing well. I actually pulled off better than 20/20 vision and my only complaint are night time halos if my eyes aren't watered down. If I keep some eye drops with me I do all right. read more

Very nice people. They offered me a 15% discount just because my family has crappy insurance that doesn't cover anything vision-related. The worst part of the surgery was the hard push on my eyes by a machine before they even start cutting the flap, but that only lasts about 20 seconds on each eye. I had about -6.0 vision before with a very mild astigmatism, and less than 24 hours after the surgery I can see 20/15 in my left eye and 20/25 in my right, and they say it should keep improving throughout the next week or so. The surgeon is very good, and this is a great place to get lasik done if you're considering it. It's probably going to be expensive (mine was $1679 per eye), but well worth it in the long run. read more

If you're hesitating about getting Lasik done, don't! This team is amazing and makes the process so stress free and easy, it's unbelievable. I was totally freaked out about getting Lasik done and the team at LasikPlus was so friendly and helpful that they took away about 90% of my stress about having my eyes worked on. The consult is like your typical eye doctor appointment and they determine if you're a candidate for Lasik. The actual Lasik procedure is really quick! I went in at 8:45 am and was home by 11. Most of that time was filling out the paperwork and waiting for my turn. You can watch the other patients getting Lasik because the procedure room has a gallery window. I was too freaked out to do that, but my husband watched while I had it done. The procedure is about 10 minutes from the time they put in the numbing drops in your eyes. Dr. Straub talks you through everything he is doing in the procedure and his team of assistants are so friendly and caring that it's really easy. The worst part of the procedure is the first part where there's a bit of pressure on your eye. It doesn't hurt, but it's a little bit uncomfortable for about 20 seconds per eye. Otherwise, it's just blurry and a bunch of bright lights. I told them it looked like I was getting abducted - apparently everyone says that. You sit up from the procedure and can see, but everything is blurry like looking through water. Once you go home and take a nap, when you wake up, you can see crystal clear! It's an amazing feeling! I was able to go back to work the following day, too! I now have 20/20 vision and it's very surreal, but so great. I cannot recommend LasikPlus enough. read more

They were excellent and very professional. My initial visit they went through everything and did a complete exam. When I came back the procedure went very quickly and they stepped me through every part of it. Then they provided written instructions that were also detailed. When I went in for my post-op follow-up a few days later my vision had already improved significantly. I'm a week out now and I see better than I did with glasses. read more

This place runs like a well-oiled machine. There is one major kink I'll get to later. Good: -efficient -informative -lots of doctors -surgery is quick and minimal discomfort -sunglasses provided -care credit option with discounts for teachers, doctors, and first responders -free garage parking Bad: -they don't emphasize the fact that it is a permanent surgery with temporary results...you have to qualify for the touch up later on if you need it depending on how much of your eye is left post surgery -they don't address chronic dry eye before the surgery or tell you you have it! This I find out later is so important to the quality of how your eyes heal -not addressing the dry eye will affect your vision afterwards even if you follow the post care to a tee -- meaning your vision will not be crisp but will be blurry and vary each day -they try to avoid having you see a dr after by telling you that everyone complains about blurry vision around summer and to just use eye drops every 15 mins as if that is realistic -as a result I went to my normal eye dr and was told how upset he was at how blurry my vision was after lasik...I had to do intensive at home treatments with an eye wash, heat pack, and eye drops every hour or so for a month to improve the clarity of my vision -incredibly annoying how frequently they ask you if you have Facebook and if so if you would check in online for a chance to win an Amazon.com gift card read more

The staff is very friendly. Had the original lasik surgery in February then an additional surgery on each eye within a month for one and in Aug for the other eye. My vision in one eye is still not great but there isn't anything more I trust for them to do. They also only have follow up appointments On Mondays which does not allow much flexibility for appointments either. read more

I'm going to preface this review by saying that LasikPlus has a very sophisticated social media advertising operation--they mention the gift card raffles, donations to charity, etc., for liking them on Facebook, reviewing on Google, etc. and such at every possible opportunity. Nothing inherently wrong with that, and no one suggested that I had to write a "good" review. Also, no one mentioned Yelp, so no gift cards for me! Onto the substance. The first thing you'll notice is that this place (which shares a building with a Whole Foods--of course) has the look of a large, fancy, high-volume operation. The operating room is in a giant glass cage so that you can see all the nifty equipment and take a selfie of yourself with it at the "selfie spot." (I'm not joking.) The staff is outrageously friendly, articulate, and well trained in customer service. Of course, this says nothing about the competence of their medical operation. But one assumes that attention to detail on superficial stuff is a proxy for attention to detail on the operational level. They tell you to set aside 90 minutes for the free initial consult, and they're not kidding. A more junior optometrist does most of the preliminary assessment and refraction, which is more thorough that anything at my regular eye doctor. Then you meet with a doctor (who is not the surgeon) to do an exam and answer questions about the procedure, risks, etc. I didn't meet my surgeon until I went into the operating room. I assume I could have if I had asked. In none of my three visits so far have I been left sitting around for half an hour waiting to be seen. Like I said, well-oiled machine. (As an aside, I was taught always to get a second opinion before undergoing any sort of surgery, no matter how competent the doctor seems. I didn't, but you should.) I impulsively scheduled surgery for two days after my initial consult (see prior comment). They're not doing cut-rate work at 800 an eye, but pricing was reasonable based on the averages I had seen online. On the day of, they repeated a bunch of the same tests, and then the big-dog optometrist examined me. I learned more about refraction during my 20 minutes with him than I could have imagined! He explained in great detail about how my current Rx was overcorrected, why they weren't going to do that with the surgery because it would make reading harder, etc. If nothing else, it was a great presurgery confidence builder that they've got you perfectly refracted. I won't go into detail about the surgery, plenty has been written on that. It's painless but WEIRD, and likely to trigger existential angst of the "why could I leave well enough alone?" variety. I will say that Dr. Straub has mastered the art of constantly talking you through what he's doing in a way that communicates "everything is going fine, and by the way I've done this ten thousand times before." The next day, my left eye was perfect. Crazy. (20/15, I'd later learn.) I was nonetheless cranky an anxious because my right eye seemed hazy and not quite as sharp. At the follow-up, the doctor promised me that it would improve--which, as it turns out, took about four hours after my follow-up. The decision of whether to get this done notwithstanding the small risk of complications is up to you, but it would be a mistake not to do a consult here if you're considering Lasik. read more
