This place was a horror show! I went in for my first contact fitting, which went smoothly enough, but while they were teaching me to remove them, whatever I did I could NOT take out the right-eye's. After many frustrated minutes of poking and prodding, Dr. Ben Smith eventually examined me and told me he was "100% sure" (his words) that the contact had popped out. Already fed up, I went to the front office to reschedule, but then Ben came out and told me he wanted to re-examine me just to be sure...? I was of course mortified. Sure enough, he checked it out again and found the contact lodged under my right eyelid, which he proceeded to flip inside out to remove it. Very uncomfortable, very disturbing. I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because I recognize this was likely a fluke and at least they didn't charge me. Nevertheless, I've decided against contacts and against ever coming to this place again. read more

My family switched to this clinic 2 years ago after looking for a doc closer to ou home. We've seen Dr. Tripp at each visit thus far who has been fantastic. He always takes his time and walks us through each step thoroughly. I recently went in to ask about a lasik consult and he spent extra time walking me through all the steps in lasik, variables and different types of technology. When I went to a lasik center and had the official consult, I found that there was no new info to learn since Dr. Tripp did such a great job helping me understand. The clinic is in a convenient location and the office staff has always been super nice to me and my kids. We'll keep on coming back, we're very happy with our care. read more

After realizing my eye insurance changed, I was on the hunt for a new eye doctor. I had a current prescription so just needed new glasses. The selection here is extensive and reasonably priced. With my insurance I got new glasses for less than I've ever paid for glasses. The lab from my insurance didn't do a good job with the lenses and they had funky marks on them. Central eye care sent them back to the lab. The lab sent them back the same way so Central eye care sent them to their own lab which was not under my insurance. They got them back and they are perfect. The customer service is top notch and everyone I've worked with here was pleasant and very nice! read more

Go elsewhere. The grossly incompetent Dr. Benjamin Smith failed to diagnose the bad cataracts that I have and for which I am now getting eye surgery. He also ignored my question about double vision at night, which also turned out to be exotropia, for which I will also be getting treatment. I will also be filing complaints to the state board about his incompetence. Go to a qualified opthamologist instead. read more

SO disappointed in them this year. I have used Dr. Ben for years and adore him but his staff seriously let him down this year. It took months to get my glasses and weeks ago they finally told me I'd get them in a week or two and today (three weeks later) when I called they said "oh yes, we just got authorization to work on them so it'll be about three weeks" I said "hang on you told me that three weeks ago." She went off to check again and came back to say they were all ready and would pop them in the mail....no apology for misspeaking or anything. I said would you at least courier them up today as I'm only 6 blocks away? No we don't do that. I will certainly think twice about using them again. read more

Got my prescription wrong twice, and failed to notify that the (wrong) replacements that had to be-ordered were delayed from the manufacturer. Office staff less than professional when handling the problem (deflection, blame passing, etc). Will be finding a different eye doctor. read more

Wrong color glasses when arrived, when you spend over $500 you expect when they call you to come get your glasses they would at least check the order. Update they refunded me for the wrong order glasses had me come up and pick up a check and told me to take my business elsewhere. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find this business as I was looking for a place to get an eye exam and purchase some eyeglasses. Upon my entrance I found an office which was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated as well as easily accessible from the street with plenty of parking. I was especially impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the office staff - Theresa, Gavin, Alisha to name a few of them. I felt my treatment was very personalized and like I was appreciated as a patient. Dr. Trip the Ophthalmologist was exceptionally friendly and a joy to work with. Because I personally don't like to take chances of possibly having to make a return office visit because of a discrepancy I asked him to confirm the accuracy of his readings by repeating the test. He happily obliged me by re-testing both eyes and found the results of both tests to be identical. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a quality Eyecare center. read more

Top notch service! I came in to get an exam, my scratched lenses replaced, and stock up on some more contacts. Dr. Ben was fantastic, as were his technicians. They were all very personable and definitely striving to provide the best service possible. Since it's a one-doctor practice, I had to wait just a short time while one of the techs was helping another customer, and they acknowledged me and apologized multiple times - but I didn't even mind. The prices were great, too. Because I wasn't using insurance for the contacts or lenses, they gave me a 20% discount. My contacts and lenses came in just when they said they would, and I went to pick up both and received more great service. I'll definitely be going back for all my optical needs! read more

Seeing that I have perfect eyesight, I never envisioned that I would require a trip to the eye doctor's office. Unfortunately my girlfriends pink eye was rather contagious and had its sights on me. I didn't bat an eye and called immediately to schedule an appointment. When I arrived I was spotted by an optician by the name of Whitney. Boy was she a sight for sore eyes. She oversaw my paperwork, pre-testing and kindly guided me through what was a very trying time for my eye balls. Immediately after I was called in to be seen by the doctor. In a blink of an eye the doctor had seen, diagnosed and written a prescription that put me back on path to the perfect eye health that I am accustomed too. I chose this place blindly (hey-oh!) since it's close to where I live. It was fantastic luck. My insurance doesn't cover eye care, so it was great that the exam was reasonably priced ($85) as was a contact lens fitting ($150.) Even better was that when Dr. Smith saw that I wasn't going to have issues getting the lenses on and off, he only charged me $100. The $150 was in the event that I had trouble so they could budget more time to care of their patient. That's great. In the past, I had a horrible lens fitting in which the optician sat directly across from me as I poked at my eyeball and breathed on me with her onion breath and then informed me that I was probably having difficulty because "your eyes are like, really small." Since I was determined to get contact lenses, I don't exactly remember all the details of the eyeglass prices that the wonderful and professional Phil explained to me, but I do remember that they were also affordable and they had a small but well-edited selection. I will definitely be recommending these guys to my near and far-sighted friends. They are the best! One more thing: they have ZocDoc, so I was able to book my exam do my pre-appointment medical history paperwork online, saving me time while I was actually in the office. Nice. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Smith and the staff at Central Denver Eyecare for about 3-4 years now and couldn't be happier. It's always easy for me to get an appointment, and Dr. Smith is thorough and gives me great advice and education on the macular degeneration that runs in my family. They also use a machine that takes a picture of your retina so you don't have to get your eyes dilated which is great when I have to go back to work. I had an eye issue about a year ago and they were able to fit me in for a same day appointment, which I was very grateful fir. I've continued to go to Central Denver Eyecare even after several moves that have taken me farther away from them. Can't say enough good things! read more

live in central Denver and found these guys from my Anthem insurance web site as close to home AND in network. So glad I did. Parking can be a challenge but still do-able, esp. since I went after work so there was plenty of off street parking. By the way, thank you thank you thank you for having extended hours! Anyway, just ask Phil if you have questions about parking! Both Phil and Dr. Ben are so helpful. Dr. Ben answered all my questions about computer and eye fatigue, as well as the latest goings on in implantable toric lenses (and why or why not I would be a good candidate), lasik, etc. Oh, and no eye puffs here! They had a small but curated mix of low-end and high-end frames and sunglasses. Truth be told, after seeing the 60 Minutes special this year about Luxottica and the monopoly they have, I won't buy designer frames ever again. I found an artsy cute pair of modified cat eyes for free b/c of my insurance. Yay. Just had to pay for the lenses. They also had some pretty Gucci frames and of course, Ray Bans. I was impressed over all with the customer service, Phil's experience and expertise in helping with my frames, Dr. Ben's knowledge base, and overall the experience. II have lived here for some time now and finally feel like I found "MY" eye doctor. So happy read more

They are AMAZING. My glasses had snapped flush where the arm and frame connected. I was trying to figure out what to do and had a bit of panic attack and vented about just my luck and karma basically on a voicemail. They called me back and helped me get a new frame, and even when the lens chipped a tiny tiny bit when switching them, so small I didn't notice AND it was due to the fact I had superglued the arm on as a temp fix, well they replaced the lens to!!! Got a same day appointment. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. Kat did an excellent job with her part of the exam. The rest of the eye exam was comprehensive and Dr Smith explained everything in detail. I explained that I wanted glasses that would be tuned toward woking on my laptop computer. He understood and worked up a prescription for just that. I received the glasses a week later and they are perfect. Exactly what I wanted. Thanks for a great experience. Will be back. Pros: Friendly staff, quick exam, and convenient location from my workplace. If you want in and out, this is it. Cons: I had an unexpected charge of $40 for a fitting that was not communicated with me prior so the lack of communication due to the speed of the of the appointment was kind of a disappointment.
