The pricing was pretty similar but I chose them b/c they say they are a family business and they are closer to me so I figured shipping would be faster. I had them do 4 pairs of progressives, one of which was a a computer distance. They are all perfect! I guess I'll never know if I actually got the lenses and coatings I paid for, but they are exactly the the right prescription, with no weirdness, lightweight, and the transition is working, as expected. The turnaround was pretty quick, and they were nicely packed up when I opened them up. They had a question about my order and called to go over it with me. I looked all over for Transitions Driveware lenses, for my new frames. The six or seven stores in San Antonio that proffered Transitions, (and not a cheap imitation) did not have Driveware. I had an older pair of single vision glasses that had beautiful, comfortable frames that hadn't been worn much before I bought my first pair of progressives. I was able to get HD progressives with polycarbonate and premium anti-glare lenses ordered, the same that my present glasses were from Vision Works. Each lens there was $300. I have bought 20 pairs of glasses and always rated them as 5 stars, but the new staff are very unhelpful and snarky. I ordered a progressive pair at $189, which did not come for a long time. I inquired and was told mistakes were made it would take another 10 days. OK. I waited, got the glasses - could NOT read through the lower reading portion. Called, got an unhelpful person. Eventually, another person called and first said, are you sure about your prescription? Told that THEY had my prescription on file, he said I put the dot on the wrong place, that it was MY mistake. Purportedly they were going to fix it if I sent in a photo of me wearing the glasses plus mailing in the glasses AGAIN, but he said even though it was MY fault, they would do this gratis. First of all, how does he KNOW if was my fault sight unseen? Second, they have already made errors and caused delays. Third, they expect ME to pay for shipping AGAIN to them plus further delays. All this smug blame others is NOT the professional and courteous service I was used to and expect. What has HAPPENED to the original staff??? Is this business model going to survive??? This time I tried ReplaceALens because I was going for a very specific look - I had a pair of frames that I wanted blue lenses in, but other lens replacement companies could not do the shade of blue I wanted. ReplaceALens sent me their colors and even told me to send a picture and they could replicate the color. I did that and when my glasses arrived today, I was THRILLED with how they turned out! Originally, they did a beautiful job putting replacement lenses in my frames. That replacement required very precise drilling which they did perfectly. Then, 9 months later, I realized my seldom worn glasses had developed a surface defect, a general lack of clarity. This lens manufacturer defect was no fault of their own. Replacealens emailed me a prepaid mailing label to return the glasses. Without hesitation they are replacing the defective lenses under warranty. This place is great. I never thought I'd be this excited about receiving glasses but here I am! I got these frames online with no prescription in the lenses because it would be cheaper to get them at Costco. Well, Costco refused to do both pairs, some bs reason about the way the lens is fitted inside the frame. So I researched at least 8 different online companies (Lensabl, ReplaceRx, LensDirect, LensesRx, and many more) and ended up going with ReplaceALens due to the reviews, their competitive low prices (only 2 sites were cheaper out of a total of ~8) and their insurance policy. It only took them 4 days to work on it and ship it back. Including shipping and the weekend it was an 11 day turnaround which is much faster than I expected.
