LaScala's is a solid bet. The food is fresh, the servers are attentive, and it's somewhat open and free-flowing kitchen concept make for a nice setting. We've been here a few time over the years and it's never disappointed. We've done special occasions (Mother's Day) and I highly recommend making reservations if you plan to be there on such a day. Five star night. Traveling as a herd this week as there are six of us. Walked in with no reservations but they had no issue seating us quickly. Super friendly and quick service. No one ordered a pizza but the brick oven pizzas smelled so delicious. I wide variety of dishes ordered across the crew from pastas to one hamburger. All was good but the old fashioneds were freaking amazing. So good I had to have two. All the meals were great and the drinks were better. Oh yes a few of the freaks had to have dessert. My only issue is I have never seen an African American server or worker there. I stop in every so often to see if they've improved diversity since they are located in a diverse college town but nope . Every time I go they have absolutely no diversity in service workers. They must do better. It seems like blatant exclusion. The food is usually very good . No long waits and a lively setting. read more

Service was good and wasn't too crowded on a summer Saturday night. There are a few outdoor tables if you like to dine al fresco. I went with my 2 sons and they wanted to eat inside. Atmosphere was decent but temperature was a little too chilly for me. I had the spicy tuna and my sons shared the hot honey pizza and the chicken parm sandwich. The food was all pretty good although I felt the pizza was a bit too greasy for my preference. I've had other pizza at another location that wasn't bad so many it's just the hot honey pizza. Only disappointment was the spicy pineapple margarita. Wasn't spicy, didn't taste any pineapple, and it was a weird green color...just wasn't good. I saw martinis at other tables that looked better but wasn't impressed with my cocktail. Have to pay for parking in the area but it's fairly cheap...$2 for 2 hours. read more

Bright airy space at a convenient location to visit my Rowan student. Most of us were happy with our meals and we were well warned that the meals come out as they are cooked. The highlight of the meal was the burrata board - warmed bread accompanied the prosciutto, burrata and tomato with balsamic glaze. The margarita pizza arrived piping hot, right out of oven. The paninis were large and tasty. The meh meal was my $20 Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Very basic, nothing fancy. We splurged with the cookie skillet and Zeppoles, both delicious. I really enjoy this place. There meatballs are fantastic like most of their food. Love the new expanded restaurant in glassboro and servers are always nice. I did recently try the supreme shumai which was disappointing. It is a huge dumpling with a (1) tiny baby shrimp. Hopefully they will fix that. read more

We enjoyed a great dinner here after having visited Rowan University for a college tour. The restaurant is beautiful inside with high ceilings and clean, bright decor with lots of light, especially in the front dining room which is so pretty. Monica and Sam were both our servers and they took such good care of us! The staff here were all outstanding and friendly. And the food is great - my son loved the Tuscan chicken wings and said they were crispy and fell off the bone. He also had the chicken parmigiano which was good but quite rich and heavy with a thick cheese layer on top and a generous portion of pasta with the chicken. On the lighter side, my daughter and I loved the Margherita pizza so much!! The freshest tomato sauce you can imagine and the perfect thin and crispy but somehow still chewy crust. We also tried Grandma's Pie because we had never had one and it was really good but I preferred the Margherita for sure. I'd recommend this place ! read more

Lascala's Fire is on my alma mater's campus on the ground floor of a new (to me) building. The restaurant is spacious and clean with lots of white accents. If you're looking for Italian/pizza in the Glassboro area, this is a great option. Yesterday, on my most recent visit, we were seated right away as it was mid-day and the restaurant was only partially full. Our server was pleasant and generally prompt with taking our orders. We ordered a Moscato and limoncello spritz for drinks. The limoncello was basically like drinking limoncello straight up, so keep that in mind. I was expecting the spritz portion to mellow it out a touch. For starters, we ordered the butternut squash soup, ricotta board, and brussel sprouts. The soup was just okay. It was extremely sweet and needed to be a bit more pureed, as it was pretty thick and chunky (and not in a good way). Neither of us were able to finish the soup. The ricotta board, on the other hand, was amazing as per usual. No matter which Lascala's location I'm visiting, I can't resist that delightful app. The brussel sprouts were tasty too, though I hardly touched them as I was already filling up. They will warm up well in the air fryer though! For our entrees, we had the Margherita pizza and the four cheese (me). I could only handle one slice of the pizza, but it was soooo good. I am hyped to have it for lunch today. I had zero room for dessert, but the menu sounded tasty too. I'm sure I'll be back on a future Jersey visit. read more

Pros- fire wings had a nice flavor and the rigatoni vodka was also prepared well. Didn't get to check out the ambiance bs we ordered food to go. Cons- the staff at the front desk seemed to be very disorganized. Also, when I got back to my room I found that the grilled chicken add-on I ordered and paid for with my salad wasn't in my bag. When I returned to the restaurant I was given the excuse that "we're very busy". It is the to-go persons job (just as it's the server job) to check the order for accuracy before delivering it to the guest. Don't give excuses next time- give accurate orders. read more

I reserved on Open Table for my birthday. I was just bringing my child. I asked to be put in a booth. Not only was that ignored but I was walked all the way to the back to be put at a high top table. Due to my disability, I need a cushioned chair that's low to the ground. Also, my child is 6 and is on the spectrum so he has trouble sitting still. This is why I request a booth. Plenty were open. Then they try seating us next to the kitchen after I complain in a hard chair set up. I left. I'm not giving my business to such a rude company. I would understand if they were full up, but they weren't. Spoke to the "manager" on my way out. She was dressed just like a server....nothing on her person indicates she's a manager so I doubt she was one. I told her my issue then she just looked at me blankly. Had reservations for 9 to celebrate my daughter's birthday on a Thursday evening. Place is pretty big and was still busy enough for a summer week night. Place is wide open with big windows. Got the ricotta board stuff extra bread and the old bay fries with white cheese. Had an early dinner so took advantage of the happy hour menu. Food is always good here with large portions. Menu has so many options for pizza, salads and pasta. Everyone loved their meals. We've been here few times already so I ordered something I haven't had yet. The chicken San remo was sooo good. I loved that the waitress checked if the pasta was ok with it and even though I like linguini, I was glad I was able to switch to angel hair. Most of us had leftovers for lunch the next day. Lascalas's offers a comfortable place for parents to take their college age students to Lunch or Dinner. The menu is solid with many choices for appetizers, pizza, panini's, pasta and entrees. The service is almost too quick, entrees we're received shortly after the appetizer was placed on the table. The mushroom arancini were excellent, very flavorful and accompanied by a bechemel cream sauce. The margarita pizza was a solid bar pie. The food here is amazing! Meatball and brussels sprouts appetizers were delicious, and enough to feed three people. The meatball panini was large enough to provide leftovers for another meal, and the pizza was so delicious my husband decided that all of it was going down! If you're a GF eater, it'll be difficult to find suitable options, as with many Italian eateries. Service was a little slower than expected although they weren't all that crowded, but it wasn't horrible. Staff was cheerful and accommodating, and they did ask how everything was going. Bring a jacket, and possibly some earplugs - it's cold and noisy. The downsides to the clean, modern, black and white minimalist look. read more

Every time I travel back home to see family, I gotta go to LaScala! I love the energy and vibe of this place....very hip. The server was very friendly and attentive. We only got appetizers but that was enough to feed 4 of us. The calamari was soft and tender, but tough and rubbery. They were ever so lightly coated and fried, so you really taste the calamari. It's almost like they're naked. The Caesar salad was fresh, not overdone with dressing. The meatball trio and the Ricotta Board are hands my favorites! The meatballs are tender, soft, evenly cooked through and oh-so tender to eat. Delicious! And the day they stop selling the Ricotta Board will be the day they have to close their doors, haha. The ricotta is fresh and sweet. The pizza bread is warm, soft, crunchy with just the right amount of saltiness. They compliment each other perfectly. I think it's a 5 star night out with the girls! We were in a spacious booth, it wasn't too loud, wasn't too quiet. We ended up splitting a bottle of the red blend, plus some of the diners for a cocktail. We started with the ricotta and honey board, regular portion of bread, then needed more, $5 for extra, honestly instead of charging $15, charge $18 and give some more. We loved it. ( writing this review the next day, eating the leftover isn't as good as day of a little too sweet!) The linguine was sitting in a little too much sauce/broth, ate a few bites like soup. I did pull some out and place it on my side plate so I could eat it since it was pretty hot for a long while. The other diners had great meals, the rigatoni & beans, chicken park was huge and the chicken, crab cream past dish. All in all, it was great, and a great waitress as well! Had a tremendous food experience here yesterday. Had the Burning Rainbow roll to start. Very interesting w layers of flavor. My dining partner loved it! I ordered the short rib panini to go from Lascala's and it came with a side of fries. The fries were excellent. They tasted very good and were cooked very well. The panini bread was very good, and the short rib was delicious. The only negative I could point out was that the caramelized onions were a bit overpowering and overall did not blend together with the panini. Love Lascalas! I've been to a few of their locations. The food is always consistent and delicious. Must haves: ricotta board, Brussels, rigatoni vodka (ask to add a chicken cutlet), and my new fave is the chicken San Reno (ask for a chicken cutlet). It's so good! Staff is always friendly and nice. Came in on a Tuesday night for dinner. We were seated immediately and ordered the ricotta board from the happy hour menu. The server was so friendly and attentive. The board came out in 5 minutes and was massive. We definitely had leftovers. The ricotta was creamy and the honey was delicious. The bread sticks were crispy, but chewy, and seasoned on the outside. I ordered the fra diavlo for my main meal and it was also HUGE. The amount of seafood was insane. Everything was so flavorful. My only slightly negative comment was that I didn't find the sauce spicy at all! I was expecting and hoping for a kick. Delicious, nonetheless, and I had leftovers for the next day that heated up perfectly on the stove. The restaurant is spacious, bright, and there is plenty of seating. We have been to Lascala's 4 times. It is always loud and noisy and fast paced and it seems like they are rushing you to finish so they can reset the table you are sitting at for the next wave of customers. The food is ok. If someone orders a pizza at your table it may be served 10 minutes after everyone gets their meal. Our meal was served and one person at the table asking for some bread or a roll to eat with his meal. "I'll have to charge you the waitress said" the my friend and he said that's ok. We were finished our meal and ready to leave and the bread came as we were getting ready to pay the check. "I don't want it now " Tom said "we are done eating." No problem I'll just take it off the bill. We paid her cash then I said Tom, did she take the bread off the bill? NO he said. There was a big hassle getting reimbursed. You can park in a garage or park on the street, either way you have to pay for parking. I will not be returning there soon or ever again! read more

Our waitress did an excellent job serving us. We ordered the burrito which was very tasty! The calamari was not fresh and was very chewy. We did not like it. We ordered the chicken Toscana wings that were good. For our meals we had the cheese pizza and fire pizza which were good. The chicken parm panini was ok. It was dry and needed more sauce. The bread to meat ratio was too much bread. The fireside panini was good and tasty as well as the rigatoni. Over all 4 stars, good solid Italian restaurant! What is don't like is the fact they charge all credit cards with a 3.5% fee. Not right. In some states it's illegal to do this. They apparently have a no fee ATM at the hostess stand for your convenience. read more

This place is very good. Better than its sister restaurant in Cherry Hill. I was going to give it a little over 3.5 stars so I rounded up to 4. It's a freestyle kitchen so food comes out as it gets done. We started with two drinks. I got the lavender tequila drink which was good, but very sweet. My partner got the Italian margarita and it was really tart and strong. Not the best which brought down the star rating for me. Food alone was a 4 star. Started with the spinach salad with pears and fried goat cheese balls. They were really crunchy and lightly fried which gives it great soft texture. The pear was marinated in cinnamon and syrup which was really a good sweet addition. The bacon was super crunchy like croutons and added great texture. Very well done and probably my favorite dish. The flatbread Piatta I think they call it was good. It has a side dipping sauce of vodka sauce. Very well done. Bottom could have been more crispy but the flavor was good. We also got the sweet wings. They were well done and crispy in the sauce and the blue cheese had some nice chunks. Well thought out with the carrots and celery too! Service was good! My partner decided to break a glass at the table (accidentally of course) and the waitress was super attentive and helpful to clean it up and didn't make a big deal out of it. The ambiance was very bright. Almost too bright.. but nice and clean and you can see the kitchen which is a big plus for me because it looks nice and clean.
