Long ways for me to have a Torta Ahogada since the last time I had one was back in California The Torta Ahogada was insane! The sauce was made of of habanero and some combination of lime and other spices. Great portions and tasted super authentic and immediately after the first bite I had flashbacks of partying in Guadalajara Jalisco with some homies back in 2010. They used pulled pork/carnitas style along with lettuce and sautéed onions. Super Bomb! The people working the establishment are all super nice and friendly. A friend was craving Tortas and this popped up in a search. Boy was I glad it did. After several times I have come to love a combo of Carnitas, Chorizo and a fried egg. We just love this place. It's a "must" for any trip we make to Denver. The food is really delicious, with a unique and varied menu. And the service is always, always friendly. And you get a TON of food for the price. I've yet to have a torta that didn't become two meals. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, but the inside is actually a nice little space. The one place I stopped at driving through Colorado to pick up a sandwich to go. I waited a long time for my order and it was a lot of food. I ordered the al pastor small size and fries with horchata. I really didn't care for the flavors of the sandwich even though I love pork and pineapple. I didn't even finish it. They cost $7-8, and for that you will be treated to large amounts of meat inside grilled tortas, somewhat like a panini in another country. The atmosphere is very low key and friendly. It deserves to be called Las Tortas Fantasticas! Been here a few times and it almost seems to get better each time which is a rare occurrence. All too often places are great the first time, good the second, and then mediocre the next so you never go back. Not here! Today I had the Lambada - a great mix of chorizo, pork, and egg with all the other accoutrements inside as well. Such a great combination of flavors sandwiched between that delicious bread. So, when there's a place that he actually recommends, needless to say, I was really excited to check this place out. Unfortunately, I had a kind of meh experience here from the get go. The Nortena, by itself, is a somewhat bland torta. It looked really good and with all the ingredients on there I was really thinking it would be loaded with flavor but such was not the case. The steak and milanesa just didn't have a whole lot of flavor. That was pretty much the case for the torta as a whole. It became immensely better, however, when sprinkling on some Cholula hot sauce. Absolute best Mexican food on this side of town, if not all of Denver! This place is always consistent. Delicious meats, fresh toppings, and plenty of amazing salsas and sauces to add to your torta or fries. They also have various Mexican sodas to choose from; which you'll need to wash down the spicy fried jalapeños they give with each torta. I think it really came down to both the meat and the bread being to dry. The flavors were there but they just didn't come out. It is what it is. Big tortas with lots of avocado, beans, and different meats. The torta loco is great and I'd recommend any of the sandwiches with the pork tenderloin or carnitas on it. I don't have a ton to say really. The bread is good, the vegetables seem fresh, they have generous portions, but you pay a little extra for a sandwich to accommodate that. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I really like these sandwiches and I'll probably pick one up once every week or so, but they're not blow my mind amazing. They're solid and tasty, but a flattop sammy has to be pretty outstanding to warrant 5 stars from me. read more

You want tortas? This is the place! They have any torta you can possibly want. On my first time here, solely based on Yelp reviews I tied the suiza torta and it was incredible. This takes me back to tortas I've only had in Mexicali Mexico. The ham, chicken, Mexican cheese, beans, avocado, and the red salsa. Wow! And don't forget the bread is very good. If you don't know by now, a torta is a Mexican sandwich but unlike regular sandwiches, tortas a usually filled with hot food such as the meat and beans. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the prices. I ordered a one item torta de milanesa de res (breaded steak) - $7.39 and a large horchata $2.39. Over $10 for a sandwich and drink is a bit pricey. The sandwich wasn't massive, it was medium sized. The horchata and sandwich were 5 star level. The gentleman behind the counter asked us if we had ever been there before and when we said that we hadn't, he told us about the menu and helped us figure out what we wanted. We had our son with us and he helped him pick out his dinner from the kid's menu. I'd never had a torta before so I don't have anything to compare them to. However, I thought it was fantastic! The bread was just soft enough, the meat tasty, and I love that they put a lot of avocado and cheese on it. Both of us got a side of jalapenos even though we didn't ask for them so I assume that's a standard side. Also, we poured some Cholula hot sauce on and it added just enough kick to make the torta even better. They have a lot of different meat options to make a torta of your own but there is a good selection of specialty combination tortas if you want one a little different. Great food! Friendly staff! I was very skeptical about trying this place, but my husband kept bragging about how good their sandwiches are. Finally! I built up the courage to make the trip down to Las Tortas, and boy am I glad I did! their bread is soft and very flavorful, and having it toasted is just the icing on top of the cake! I had the steak torta, and it was so tender, and big that I couldn't finish it all. I was a little disappointed that they dont put beans on their sandwiches unless you specifically ask for them, but it was still very tasty without the beans! They were fast taking my order, and quick to get it out. The man taking our order was friendly, and explained how we should order because their menu has so much to choose from... We recently moved to Denver from Houston, TX where Mexican food is in abundance. The tortas at Las Tortas are the best we've ever had! I'm very glad we only live 10 minutes away.
