I'm on a quest to find the best carne asada taco in Denver and I've stopped expecting everything to taste like San Diego. There are different ways to do great Mexican food. I ordered two carne asada tacos and one al pastor. They had a vertical spit going, slicing the pork fresh with pineapple, always a good sign. Everything came out hot. The corn tortillas were fresh, double stacked, and lightly grilled so they stayed soft and pliable. The al pastor was tender with a nice sweetness from the pineapple and topped with diced onions. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. The carne asada tacos had a good amount of meat, cilantro, and onions, but the beef itself didn't quite hit for me. It was missing that charred, grilled flavor I look for and leaned a little more steamed than seared. Even so, the fresh tortillas and generous portion of meat earned them a 4 out of 5. The salsas were the highlight. The green salsa was creamy with almost an avocado-like texture, well balanced and lightly salted. The red had a roasted flavor with solid heat. I ended up using both on everything, the green for richness and the red for spice. At $5.69 per taco it's not cheap. Three tacos and a bottled soda came to about $22. The surprising part is this isn't Cherry Creek. It's in a pretty rundown strip mall at Monaco and Iliff, so the pricing caught me off guard. They do have a $2 Taco Tuesday, and that's probably the day I'd recommend trying them if you want to see what they're all about. Overall, it's worth a visit. The fresh tortillas and excellent salsas really stood out, and I'd come back again. I still want to try the carne asada burrito, although I wish it came with guacamole, pico de gallo, cilantro, and onions instead of beans and rice. That's just my preference, but I'm always on the hunt for that perfect carne asada taco or burrito. read more

They do not know how to cut their steak So , I asked for a beef and bean burrito and I got steak and bean burrito. I thought, beef and bean meant ground beef, anyway, if you're gonna serve anything that has steak in it, please learn how to cut your steak. My friend and I came in a couple days ago to a mostly empty restaurant and were served, with no hint of exaggeration, the worst pozole I think I've ever had in my life. The broth was watery and funny tasting (sour in an unpleasant way and far too much oregano) the hominy had a gritty texture, and there was almost no meat, and the little that it had was mostly grisle and fat. There were no sliced limes, neither with our food or at the salsa bar, and my radishes felt unwashed. We tried to be polite and choke down a few bites, but ended up leaving almost full bowls behind, and I genuinely felt like I was going to be sick on the way home because of how unappetizing the food was. It was like eating a Table Scrap Soup. I should have known the food was going to be terrible after I saw all the AI-generated menus and flyers and wall art. Restaurants with any kind of integrity and pride hire real artists and graphic designers, or are at least proud enough of their food to take a few real pictures. We both had the pozole so we didn't try anything else, maybe they just are specifically bad at this and everything else is fine, but either way stay clear. read more

They have the premade burritos that they make every morning for half the price of their normal breakfast burritos and they're almost the exact same size so get there before 11 AM to get your hands on one!
