We would come swing by this cafe on our way to the beach. This place takes cash only so make sure you stop by the ATM. This cafe is cozy with friendly workers and good-smelling bakery goods. If you haven't noticed, many shops and restaurants in South Beach are marked up with higher taxes. This is why I enjoyed this cafe so much because I can get more food than other places for a lower price. Their Cuban coffee is amazing! Especially over iced coffee (and especially if you're going to walk around with coffee). Learned the hard way when I was drinking hot coffee in the heat. We had their other foods (e.g. arepa, empanadas) too and they were all pretty decent. Come check out this place! read more

Perfect cafeteria spot located a few blocks from the beach. Lunch for two cost me less than $20! Outdoor seating is available, but there is no shade so good luck with trying to look cute on that one. There are 7 2-tops inside, but you can configure them to your liking. There isn't much relief indoors, but at least you're out of the sun. You will however, sweat in all places foreign and domestic. When you walk in, you'll notice immediately that you will point to what you want. Most of the hot food is pre-made, aside from the sandwiches, but the food is hot and is constantly being cooked. I choose the breaded tilapia, yellow rice, and steamed vegetables ($7.95). It was a tremendous amount of food, but since I only had a bowl of cereal 6 hours prior, I was able to get through most of it. The fish was cooked perfectly and the breading wasn't too thick or over-seasoned, just right. The yellow rice had mixed veggies in it and still had decent flavor. The steamed veggies were a little overdone, but Cubans aren't known to be big veggie eaters anyway, so I wasn't expecting perfection. My GF ordered the Midnight Sandwich ($6). It's basically a cuban sandwich with egg bread. I didn't try it, because I had too much food in front of me, but she said it was "good...exactly how it was supposed to taste." Don't eat anywhere else on South Beach if you're on a budget. I ate here because it was a block away from the parking garage. This place is a legit... read more

My favorite place in Miami for all that you think Miami should be. The best Cuban coffee (cortadito) and the best Cuban food in a open air cafe. The women working really work it with the best in Latin style. A must go to place on every visit. read more

Las Olas Cafe - I just hit my 300th review at Las Olas - Cuban Near Me - Miami Beach, Florida

They didn't have a lot on the menu available, but what they did was delicious. Our party ordered the Cubano sandwich, cubano plate, and the chicken. The sandwich was the best I had in Miami, of the four that I've had yet. If you're walking south beach, it's worth the little detour to enjoy real food compared to the tourist junk on the ocean drive. read more

$2 each for the best empanadas i've ever had! The empanadas here are made very fresh, since it sells so quickly! I only got to try the chicken empanada because i was too full from dinner. If i'm ever back in Miami beach, I'll be sure to hit this place up again! read more

Empanadas!!!!!! Fresh orange juice!!!! Sugar cane juice !!!!! Cuban espresso!!!! All above are total must haves. * Chicken empanadas are always fresh and not oily, try the ham and cheese one too. * Fresh OJ! 100% fresh, squeezed with pulp. * Cuban espresso is addictive! Sip it slow if you are caffeine sensitive. read more

Really large breakfast sandwiches and friendly staff. Quick service and delicious food!

The BEST cuban in all of SOBE! I recommend the chicken empanadas. Theyre way better than their beef empanadas. They use pulled, stewed, juicy delicious chicken. The pineapple juice is amazing! And the plantains read more

This place is the real deal. Very authentic. Great service. Great coffee we found the famous "cortitido".

Seriously, I'd sacrifice my family for this place. Good god, the food is GOOD! Had a chicken soup, pork chops, ropa vieja, chicken with vegetables, rice and beans, mashed potatoes, cuban sandwich, coffee, plantains... MY GOODNESS. Literally 0 (zero) complains. About a million compliments. I hope you'll live forever, cause I'm coming back for you. read more

I am so glad I found this place. The food is absolutely delicious!!! I had the Cuban and I was so so so so good. My only gripe would be the bathroom is really really really dirty and there was urine all over the place clear that no one ever checks the bathroom However come for the food. It's fricking amazing. read more

As soon as I found out I would be in Miami, I began searching the web for the "best Cuban sandwich in Miami." This place came up on more than one list, so I was really excited to try it out. I loved the vibe of this place, it was full of energy and delicious smells. It was also very crowded with people who seemed to be on their lunch breaks, which I thought was a good sign. Sadly, the Cubano was not very good. The ones my brother makes are much better. I mean my brother's are really good, but I expected a bustling little joint in Miami to make better Cubanos that my 0% Cuban brother. If I make it back to Miami I will have to go back to the Cuban sandwich drawing board. read more

Everything was delicious & very inexpensive compare to everything else on South Beach.... The employees doesn't speak English well so they have messed-up my order several times. Then they over charged me & when I called them on the phone they just hung-up on me. You need to bring a translator for better service. read more

Loved the Spinach empanada! My sister in law loved the chicken empanada. The plantains were really good too. The chicken and beef were just ok. We were able to toast the Cubano sandwiches and they tasted better the next day. It's a simple take out place where we got food for 8 people at $67!! Great comfort food! read more

The best chicken empanadas ever!!! I live in the bay and went to Miami 4 months ago and I am still drooling over these empanadas. I am in search of an empanada that compares to the one here...so far...no luck!! :( The Cuban sandwiches are also good here!! read more

What a cool little place to get lunch! Delicious black beans and rice and maduros! Very friendly staff who patiently tried to understand my horrible Spanish. As a vacationer in South Beach, Las Olas let me eat lunch with local Miami Beach people for the first time--most places I went only/mainly seemed to contain tourists. Very affordable. read more

I was in Miami for a couple of days and knew I wanted to have a Cuban sandwich, and this place happened to be a block away from my hotel so I thought I would try it out , boy I was happy I did! The Cuban sandwich was amazing ! Soo good the people were very nice and the sandwich felt huge and I only spent $8 total with coffee ... Loved it. The only down side was , I didn't see a posted menu anywhere :/ but I already knew what I wanted to eat And cash only !! read more

Delicious, fast, and inexpensive food just a short walk from the beach. I came here on a layover between a cruise and New England, seeking a few more hours of warmth before heading home. Las Olas was the icing on the proverbial cake, providing one last bite of tasty food to end my vacation. A container of rice was $2, and plantains were under $3 - both fresh and delicious. My sister had a Cuban sandwich and was satisfied as well. Seats were limited and the ordering system around lunchtime was a bit chaotic, but it was worth it for the overall value. Check it out! read more

This was a winner. Unassuming place, but very busy when we were there. Slight wait, but biting into the food, it was clearly worth it. Cuban sandwich, croquettes, and empanadas. All excellent with exceedingly fair prices. read more

$2.50 for a cafe cubano and a pan de queso. Place is small and meant for take-out. It was a little dirty too (saw a spider crawling on a bag of sugar!) but I was fine with it as long as it didn't come OUT of the bag. Cafe cubano was like a shot of pure caffeine and sugar to the heart. read more

I really want to give 3 stars but since the ladies at the counter were awesome and coffee was delicious.. I'll give this place an extra star. My friend really enjoyed the cuban sandwich. I got a chicken sandwich and order cook forgot my order. Several people ordered after me and left. The lady reminded him about my sandwich in Spanish that's how I knew he hadn't made it when she first places the order. The huge sandwich was dry and chicken was overcooked. I will go back for breakfast or pastries. read more

be ready to whip out cash as this is cash only and practice your spanish, if you do not speak. they mostly speak spanish. do not let that deter you from coming bc this place is a gem!!! super busy, small, and loud. all the local cops were just hanging out outside. staff is all so friendly. i had the fried fish, boiled yuca, and rice. the man had a cuban. EVERYTHING was delicious. my plate was humongous!!! it could feed 2 people. i got an entire fish. the boiled yuca was delicious, but so much of it. the cuban was the star of the meal. perfect bread, cheese, slicing. it was sliced longways for easier consumption. brilliant! glad we stopped by and had a taste! read more

CASH ONLY. There's an atm, but you'd be better off prepared with cash when you get there. I wish this place was bigger and had more seating. It seems popular enough that they could get a bigger space but the line was still totally worth it. I was sad that they were out of 2 items I wanted to order--the chicken empanada and pastelitos, so had to dock a star. I ordered a pan con lechon and beef empanada. The beef empanada was crunchy, crispy, and juicy. The pan con lechon was my first, and it did not disappoint. The bread was perfectly toasty and crunchy. The pork shoulder was fatty and tender and dripping juices. It was incredible. I also tried my friends cubano sandwich. Although I didn't think I'd be a fan of the ham/pickle/mustard in the sandwich, I was wrong. That sandwich was amazing. Something about the perfectly toasted bread just really does it for me. The photos don't do it justice--believe me, you wanna come here. Next time I'm in miami, I'll try the hot food entrees in addition to getting another pan con lechon read more

We stopped in Miami for the night basically to experience a "real" Cuban Sandwich. Or at least something better then the ones we have up north. We were not disappointed at all. The place was crowded and you kind of don't really know what's going on when you walk in but it's sort of easy to figure out. There's just a lot to take in. Our cuban sandwiches were each cut in half longways as opposed to in the middle. No problem with that though. The taste was great. We wished we had bought more to take with us. Sadly we didn't. We are now one cuban closer to trying every cuban sandwich we can find. read more

Amazing food! I had the pan con lechon sandwich, and my friend had the Cuban, and the flavors were just outstanding. Well worth the walk away from the beach. I only wish that I had a side of the mojo sauce to dip the sandwich in. Went back two mornings later for cafe and empanadas. The cafe was not the best we had during our vacation, but the empanadas stood up to the food we had eaten previously. The dough was flaky and perfectly fried, the chicken was flavorful and moist. They only take cash, but there is an ATM at the back. There's a total of maybe 10 seats, and they filled up quickly. There are two small tables outside by la ventana. If I were ever back in Miami Beach, I would absolutely make this a stop for lunch again (or maybe every day I was there)! read more

The food was amazing. The place only had a few seats so we couldn't sit down and eat but it was already in a takeout box so we just took it back to the hotel lobby and ate. The staff there seemed quite busy but still managed to help us choose the best. The price was really reasonable for the amount they give you too. A box comes with 1 meat and 2 sides and it's only $8.96 tax included. I got the beef stew for my meat, yellow rice and steamed veggies for the sides. They were delicious I wish I could go back for more. They also served cane juice freshly squeezed and that was by far the best part of the meal. It complimented the heavy dish so well with the light juice. If you're looking for a place with good cubin food that's not expensive this is the place to go! You won't be disappointed I promise. I would definitely recommend this place and come back here again. read more

My mouth is still watering as I write this review from eating here two weeks ago. After two hours of intense paddle boarding nearby, we sought food and refuge in this little corner shop, which also has a full service walk-up window to boot. We had the cubano sandwich (classic and made to order), fries, fresh squeezed cane juice and iced coffee. The cubano was amazing, perfect balance of meats and bread, thinly sliced. Fries came in a humongous portion. The cane juice was a nice treat on a cool day. Next time, I definitely want to try the Buffet because it all looked fresh and yummy. One tip: you gotta get up to that counter and order first if you wanna eat because the locals come in and out fast and furious. Just put in your order, grab a drink and take a seat, they'll call you to pay at the register. read more
