This was pretty mediocre, especially compared to the other food I've had in Miami so far. I didn't get anything complicated: Caesar salad, croquettes, rice and beans. The Caesar salad was about the same as a bagged salad, so not impressive. The croquettes were just ok...they had a sweet flavor that I can't put my finger on that I didn't like. Maybe the ham? Me and my friend was looking for a place to watch the superbowl and all the sports bar was packed and we came across this place. They had a good setup outside with big screen tvs but it was a little chilly so we chose to sit inside. They also had a big screen set up and we had good seats. They also had a good superbowl special menu and we ordered cocktails which was huge for a medium and super strong. Then we shared a burger special. I got seafood soup and my friend got calamari. Everything was delicious. The place was fun and our waiter was a cutie and so sweet and attentive. Call Me Cuban is a cute, Miami Beach-style spot with outdoor seating shared with a hotel. There is some indoor seating, but it seems to be part of the hotel's bar area. The atmosphere is nice, with a live music stage on the patio, though there wasn't any music playing when we visited. The location definitely gives off a vibey, beachside feel. Service was fast, and so was the food. However, the meal itself was just okay--not very flavorful and not particularly authentic. I ordered the lomo saltado, requesting medium rare, but it came out well done. The meat was dry and tough to chew. The sauce was too salty, which helped balance out the bland rice, but the beans were also underwhelming. Like most places in Miami, there's an automatic 20% tip added to the bill, and prices are on the higher side. But given the beachfront location and touristy setting, that's expected. The restaurant doesn't overpromise, and for what it is--a convenient, casual spot in a prime location--it does the job. read more

Wow! This was one of the best restaurants we have tried on South Beach. The food was so good. I had chicken tacos and cheese croquettes and loved them both. CARDOZO HOTEL RESTAURANT ON MIAMI BEACH STRIP. As with many of the historic Art Decco hotels in Miami Beach this restaurant has taken over what used to be the main hotel lobby. The main desk is now a bar and the lounge are is the bulk of seating. The best place to sit though is out front as the entrance facade is shaded by canopy's covering the chairs and tables. We stopped here to order something for breakfast and chose to split a Cubano Breakfast Burrito. Featuring a mixture of pork, rice spaces and a fried egg. It came with a delicious aioli and a little fresh salsa. We also ordered an iced coffee which came with milk in it and a Mojito. Which in Miami comes with a long shared slice of sugarcane core which looks like another straw at first glance. I really enjoyed the burrito but my wife thought it was so so. We both agreed the Mojito was really good. The service was another thing. Although the waiter wS polite, you see he was a little frazzled. The wait staff are forced to bus thier own tables and there were only 2 of them. So it was decidedly understaffed. I will have to deduct one star. Cheers. read more

Cocktail advertised for $15 became $30. 20% tip automatically added and then the waiter has the nerve to ask for another tip just for himself, as he says the 20% tip is shared with other staff. And I'm certainly not the first person to complain about this practice. And hey, I'm from NY City and I've never had this experience in a restaurant. The service could have been a bit better considering we were one of the only tables sitting. My husband and I had the best time at this place! We stopped by for bottomless mimosas and the service was great. When visiting Miami, you hope the food is over the top. When going to a high tourist area such as Miami Beach, the food, ambiance, atmosphere, and experience better have that wow factor that will impress you from start to finish. After walking up and down South Beach all afternoon, my lady and I finally agreed to dine at "Call Me Cuban". Located at 1300 Ocean Drive in the heart of Miami Beach, this place is tucked right next to the Cardozo Hotel and adjacent to 13th St. As with all businesses in this area, parking is virtually nonexistent so it is best to arrive here by foot or rideshare. Or if you're fortunate enough, there are several hotels in close proximity to this place. Even though they've only been opened since 2021, the high amount of positive Yelp reviews made this place a must-try for my lady and I. We arrived during the afternoon of Sunday 3/17/2024 at around 3:35pm in which would be a late-lunch/early-dinner. Since it was a beautiful warm 84°F day, we opted to sit outside where you can get a full view of the park and beach only a couple hundred feet away. If you do plan on dining inside, this place has a dazzling interior including a pink neon sign that reads "Miami Made me do it!", a hot pink piano, colorful lighting, and comfy snakeskin lounge chairs. The entire representation of Cuba is apparent here as everything is presented quite beautifully. Best of all, this place has very generous hours of operation being open Monday-Friday from 9am-11pm and Saturday-Sunday from 9am-12am. This includes several rotating menus including Brunch, Happy Hour, Cocktails, and standard food menu. Since I was starving, I decided on ordering an appetizer of their "Tostones" (crispy fried plantains). My main entrée was their "Vaca Frita" which consisted of caramelized crust angus beef topped with onions, Mojo, Moro, and Maduro. My lady went with their "Guacamole A La Cubana" as her appetizer of choice. This used fresh avocados, jalapeño pico de gallo, and crispy Malanga chips. She opted for their "Pollo Cuban Tacos" which use lemongrass chicken, coriander, and cilantro topped with roasted pineapples, pico de gallo, and guacamole cream. Finally, we opted for a bucket of iced cold Coronas; only $20 for four! Not a bad deal considering you're at the heart of South Beach. As far as my angus beef, it was seasoned and cooked to perfection as the meat was very tender while I could taste the authentic Cuban seasonings. My plantains were also quite delicious as they gave me four very generous pieces that were caramelized to perfection. And the crispy Tostones had an excellent crispiness when dipped in the dressing. Even the Cuban rice w/black beans tasted delicious. I also had a couple bites of her taco and the chicken tasted moist and above average. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating as she always made sure we were being taken care of. I will say that I was somewhat quite hesitant eating a big meal at South Beach since prices tend to be significantly higher than other parts of Miami. But this place was actually reasonably priced as we were able to stay full throughout the rest of the afternoon. All in all, I am going to give "Call Me Cuban" a perfect and unanimous five-star Yelp review. Excellent food, service, ambiance, and a great overall experience! read more

Was walking around Miami Beach and smelled some delicious Cuban food so I decided to come in. I sat outside, it is a very casual environment and a lot of foot traffic happening around you outside. The service was amazing, everyone was very nice, speedy and attentive and gave good menu recommendations. The pina colada was delicious I really enjoyed it. As for the food, I did not feel the same especially for the price. The entire food pictured came out to $82. (Automatic 20% included) The guacamole was nothing to write home about, but the malanga chips were a very nice touch I appreciated. The vaca frita was so oily, as well as the maduros from being in the greasy skillet. I thought the rice was pretty dry as well. Overall a bit disappointed in what I ate, although I do think the atmosphere and the pina colada was very good. I think if the value matched the quality of food I would give this place one more star, but I just don't think it warrants 3 stars! read more
