I've walked by this so many times, but never walked in until now. To my surprise, it was a tiny ecosystem of delicious Cuban and Latin adjacent food. I love those Cuban steam tables at bodegas and this had like thrice the selection. Ham Cachito: Technically Venezuelan, not Cuban. It's like a long dinner roll stuffed with chopped ham. It's a pretty awesome way to start the day with coffee! Cheese Cachito: As advertised, this variant has melted cheese instead of ham. Didn't feel as substantive or tasty, so definitely feel the ham version is superior. Papas Colombian: Also not Cuban, obviously. it's a huge ball of mashed potatoes stuffed with spiced ground meat and deep fried. Kinda like a Latin take on kibbeh. Very hearty and yummy! Cuban Papa Relleno: This is Cuban. It's got kind of bread crumb texture for the shell. The inside is still pasty mashed potato and nicely spiced ground beef. Not as big as the Colombian. Cheese Tequeño: Love these little cheese sticks. Crispy twisted dough on the outside and a nice squeaky cheese inside. Pan de Bono: A simple cheesy roll. Great with coffee in the morning. Colombian Cheese Empanada: This is such a unique empanada. It's got a crispy deep fried yellow corn shell and lots of salty mushy cheese inside. A constant favorite of mine. Venezuelan Cheese Empanada: A chewy shell with melted cheese. Not as good as the Colombian, but still tasty because cheese. Arepa: Not quite the same as freshly made, when the cheesy is gooey. But it's still got the signature corn and cheese taste. Beef Meal: I got the slices of pot roast, yellow rice (with more gravy on top) and plantains. Good size portion, so I was able to spread it across two meals. The sauce is what set the pot roast aside from pot roast you might make at home. So many nice flavors! Pork Chunks Meal: Cubes of pork that seem slow cooked and then deep fried for a crispy exterior. The deep frying also helps cook off big bits of fat. So the result is a superior pork experience. I got the fried rice, which had some nice bits of ham and egg in it. Also some beans on the side, for an extra boost of protein. Steak & Onions Meal: One long thin slice of steak. It's actually reminiscent of pot roast, except it's heavily marinated and quickly cooked. Surprisingly not tough. Goes well with the onions. I got the "brown rice" which was more like white rice colored brown due to the beans; much better than actual brown rice. read more

Great hole in the wall just off South Beach. Sometimes you just get tired of fancy foods. After paying $60 for breakfast my kids didn't want to eat, I was craving something plainer. I went to South Beach Munchies and got a Cuban beef empanada and a papa relleno. Both were very good. I came back the next morning to buy some food for breakfast. I got a huge container of cut fruit, some yogurt, and a smattering of Latin American treats (I did a study of empanadas -- Cuban, Venezuelan, and Argentinian). The owner was there at that point, and he told me the difference between the different empanadas and also gave me some hot sauce that he thought would compliment the food well. A ton of food that lasted for more just breakfast for four, and for less than $30 with tip and tax. All the empanadas were absolutely delicious, and the hot sauce was excellent. The fruit was awesome -- very sweet papaya, berries, mango, and pineapple. This is a must-return kind of place, my favorite kind of place to find. read more

I've sampled quite a lot of their treats as well as their Their fruit bowls are reasonably priced and fresh. They were a little resistant to me asking for a specific one that was in the locked fridge, but I wanted one with more papaya! They eventually let me have it. I had a need for Cuban coffee especially a cafecito. Before 8 am, not many places open in south beach so very thankful for Muchie's. There were lots of great breakfast choices as well. Since I was on a long walk and wanted to walk on the beach, I did not have my wallet so thankful they take Apple Pay- not $5 min. In the menu there was a picture of sandwiche with fries for $9. I ordered that. The cashier told me that after 11am the breakfast was $3 more. I said OK, because I didn't see that on the back side of the menu in the corner with little letters they had that information that I didn't see. After that they gave me just the sandwich. Maria Elena is the definition of horrible customer service. The meat in my sliders were bloody inside and I kindly asked to switch it out for another sandwich at the same price. She stated that the red was the sauce on the sandwich (it was not) and proceeded to tell me that they do not switch out food. What kind of restaurant is this?? I told her that I'm asking to switch it to the same priced sandwich or get my money back. She quickly answered that she will give me my money back because "you might not like the sandwich we make" with a sarcastic tone. They attempted to give me part of the cost of the sandwich. Came for dinner. The chicken tacos were delicious, the only problem was my friends maki maki, the chef added too much salt to it. After we told the waited who gave us an attitude about our problem with the fish, he took it back to replace it but brought back the same fish only washed through with water. It was still salty. I'm back home in New York and I'm still craving the Cuban breakfast I had here! The restaurant was a bit confusing at first. There are two halves to it, the left side seemed to be for take out with all the cuchifritos and the right side had the seating. When I walked in on the left side first- I thought I had walked into the wrong spot. The seating side is a bit small, so it might not do great for groups over 6. The food- was- so- good. I ordered the Cuban Breakfast and a beef empanada. Although the maduros and eggs were delicious, it was their white rice that won me over. It had a subtle flavor that really tied everything together. The beef empanada I give two thumbs up to. Very tasty! Everyone else in my group also enjoyed their food (cuban sandwiches) with no complaints. And we were all very happy with the prices.
