There was a long line to get my espresso, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I've been trying a few coffee shops within walking distance, and so far this one stands out as the best. The espresso was incredibly smooth--strong in flavor without being acidic or bitter, which is hard to find. They also made my cortado perfectly. Presentation wasn't anything special--I do enjoy a nice bit of latte art--but the flavor more than made up for it. Customer service was good and efficient, even with the crowd. This café looks really cute and promising, but unfortunately our experience didn't match the vibe. We ordered everything to go, and it took much longer than expected for our order to be prepared -- even though it was just two cookies, one croissant, and two coffees. We had to ask them for our order, and they misplaced our order. When we finally got our order, the hot coffees were already cold, and the croissant was cold as well. Maman cafes are great cafes to grab some good coffee and pastries. This location is no exception. We came here a couple times to do some work and sat outside on their patio. I tried their Honey lavender Latte and Vanilla Honey Butter Latte which were both quite good. First time we shared the Orange Pistachio Olive Oil Tea Cake. It was moist and you could definitely taste the olive oil in the pastry - so good. Second visit we tried Martha Stewart's Harvest Tart and a Quiche with mushrooms and caramelized onions. The quiche was surprisingly sweet but was so good and so was the tart. For a cafe chain, Maman has good quality food and coffee! Staff are friendly and courteous. Food is where it really disappointed though. Pina Colada Pancakes (2/5, Main) - Wife is a pancake fan and this one was just ... so doughy and not fluffy. It was one-dimensional in flavor with heavy-handed cream and syrup on top... so much so that we made a rare request to switch after a few bites. Belgian Waffle (3/5, Main) - The replacement. Berries were fresh, waffle was passable, but nothing amazing. Papa's Breakfast Bowl (4/5, Main) - This one was the only decent one we ordered. Good quantity and flavor. Fun to eat with the right textures too. With a great south beach location, Maman looks pretty, but offers overpriced, mediocre brunch with rather slow service. Place would be a hard 5 stars if the service when you get seated there wasn't sub par at best. This has to be some of the most creative and well put together breakfast I've had in a while. OMG the pastries here are divine. They a few Martha Stuart bunt cakes and many other delicious treats. I also tried the waffle with a side of thick high quality bacon that was absolutely delicious!!! We have been to this location and had a wonderful experience, but today wiped all that away. Absolutely abyssmal service and attitudes on top of it. The restaurant was chaos, with customers not being acknowledged or knowing what to do about ordering or picking up their food. Very rude waitress, when asked about seating my party of six got curt and waved me off saying that my food was coming. We hadn't even sat down yet. After seeing similar frustrated faces in the restaurant, we decided to just leave. I had brought this group of people down here to experience Maman and was disgusted with how we and the other customers were treated. I would love to give them another try but unless there is some guarantee that they have spent some serious effort on fixing whatever staffing and work flow catastrophe they are experiencing, I would steer clear of this place. I walked into Maman looking HAGGARD. it was about a million degrees outside and I needed something to drink badly. I saw the sign for the matcha papaya lemonade (which was also delicious!) and went in and ordered it. My go to is the Katie Sandwich - can't go wrong with a nice French baguette with well seasoned chicken and toppings. If you're craving a European/authentic Belgian waffle then get it! It even has the sugar pearls in it so it reminds me a lot of the Christmas market waffles Not a huge fan of their viennoiseries, and the cookies are too sweet for my taste.
