This was my second time coming here since it's far from me. The last time I tried coming here was several months ago on a holiday when they were one of the places that was closed. I ordered the Mole Chicken dinner this Sunday night and it was very delicious, exotic, authentic, not Americanized and made with love. I am aware some Mexican restaurants like the one across the street from this one don't even sell mole. I have had mole from different places and some are good, but out of all the ones I've had the one from here is my favorite of all. The mole sauce on my chicken quarter was very tasty, unique in flavor profile, not exactly sweet, muddy type of texture plus taste in a good way, slightly bitter and nicely savory. The chicken itself was very well-prepared and super tender to the fall off bone degree. It was very well-marinated with no dryness or gristle at all. Very juicy and held a great poultry vibe in the meat taste alone. The skin on it was very tasty and seasoned right. The rice was very tasty, moist, fresh, doughy and very subtly spiced. I should've gotten a double of it tbh, since I love a good rice. The corn tortillas were very fresh, corny in profile and not greasy at all. Great service as well. read more

When I walked in here. I loved the jams they were playing. They had it down the entire time I was there. The menu was large and different. I order the Chile rellenos and they were delicious. This is definitely a place where you need to be more familiar with the language to order, even though their menu is in English. When I tried to order, the waitress started asking a bunch of questions in Spanish a bit too fast for me to understand. Fortunately I was with a friend who speaks fluent Spanish, otherwise, it would've been quite the challenge. So, obviously the fact that they speak Spanish here lends credence to their authenticity. They have a spicy reddish brown and a not-so-spicy tomatillo salsa that they bring out with chips. Both are pretty decent, but not my favorite. My friend ordered the mole enchiladas, which I did not try, and said they were very good. I had some shredded beef tacos and a fried cheese quesadilla. The tacos were okay, but the quesadilla was a definite winner. Next time I'd get some meat filling in the quesadilla to bring it up a notch. It was so good that it pleasantly surprised my friend, who made fun of me for getting a fried quesadilla. The filling was naturally very cheesy, and it was topped with lettuce and even more crumbly cheese. It looks more like a taco than what most people would expect for a quesadilla. I loved it; it reminded me of the house quesadilla from El Fresh Taco in Katy, RIP. They serve gigantic glasses of aquas frescas. I always go for the Sandia (watermelon) and loved it here. If you are looking for a change from your average Tex-Mex, this is a good place to check out! read more

In my eyes Mexican food places thrive or die based upon the degree of taste/spicy-ness of their salsas. If they are bland you can almost guaranttee the food wont be too great. Las Llardas had good chips, good & spicy salsa,, good horchata (rice water) good prices, and great food. I had the milanesa plate that came with your choice of corn or flour tortillas, rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, and a couple slices of avocado. My buddies got the yards of beer which almost made it feel like being at an all inclusive resort in Cancun but the prices were still cheap and awesome. I think the restaurant and the bar next door did a little M&A and tore down one of the walls so it could be your one stop shop for typical Mexican things to do. Drink and Eat. The bar provides some entertainment and laughs with awesomely awful music to go along with whatever soccer game is currently on TV. The only pitfall, which isnt really one at all, is that this place is situated in the heart of where most delicious Mexican food restaurants reside. Making it difficult to come back here too often because of the wide variety of places to choose from. 4 stars none-the-less. read more

The service in here isn't supposed to be great. They bring you a large glass of horchata for a reason: they aren't going to be coming back to give refills. It's a no frills kinda place. The tortas here are the best in the city. My dining companions (who are always the same 4 people and we come here at least once a month) always get the Cubana torta. I get a meat combination torta with beef milenesa and fajita chicken. They put refried beans, avocado, tomato, cheese, and your choice of 2 meats between soft, fresh mexican bread, and then lightly grill the whole thing. I slather on the spicy red sauce, and I have been known to request that this be my last meal on earth. With a normal sandwich, one usually puts the sandwich back on the plate in between bites...not with this torta. I never put the thing down. In fact, it's a running joke that I'm not to be disturbed after my torta arrives, because I am known to be incredibly curt in conversation in order to get back to my torta. read more

Though their tomatada enchiladas are great, the customer service is not. I had high hopes for this place until I ordered a watermelon drink. I told the waitress I just wanted little sugar. I specifically asked her if it's already made or if it could be made less sweet. She said they make it after you order it. The drink came super sweet. They rarely put watermelon on it. I complained and she said she could bring me ice. Another waiter said i could have asked for it with no sugar. They wouldn't replace it for me. Ice didn't help the sweetness. Many restaurants would have tried to please me. After all, I did ask for little sugar. I bet the drink is already made in those huge glass containers and they don't care if you ask for little sugar. They might be making up the story of how it's made on the spot. I didn't drink it. When I approached the counter to pay, I mentioned to the guy of how the drink rarely has watermelon. He said it's a premeasured amount used in each drink. I just didn't like the attitude they have. He could have said, "I'm sorry it wasn't to your liking. I will not charge you for it." I paid $2.50 for a watered-down drink full of sugar that I didn't drink. Bear in mind, this place can get loud if someone plays music on the juke box. Not too mild as in to resemble watery avocado, not too spicy as too ruin your meal's flavor. It's great. Waitresses are very friendly and charming. Food? Delicious. Their breakfast menu is delicious. Your choice of Eggs, beans, and tater tots for $2-$3. Short stack pancakes for $3, breakfast tacos for $2.75. Give me that over IHOP, Denny's, or House of Pies any day of the week. Lunch...their tortas are delicious. Stick to one. More than that and that's just plain ol' gluttony. Don't be like me and think "Oh, I'll just add a queca (fried quesadilla) to top it off." No. It's delicious, but no, don't ruin a good experience by having too much food. As far as the ambient goes...it's a taqueria. Don't take your first date there. However, if she wants Mexican food and you take her to some overpriced and overrated Mexican joint like Guadalajara, you deserve everything that's coming to you. First off, there was a limited selection of food we could order because half the menu was only available Friday-Sunday. The chips provided are small for a family of 2+ and when we asked for more the waitress and waiter rudely brought us more food. When we asked for other things they looked at us as if we were bothering them. The food was decent but the lack of customer service just made the whole experience awful.
