i have been meaning to try this place and it was definitely cute. The bartender was super friendly snd gave me this non-alcoholic rec once I told him I can't drink alcohol. This place is very quaint and chill which is perfect to meet someone or go on a date. The third eye drink was very fruity and refreshing. I would definitely get it again

Larry's is a unique bar that is tucked away in this building. It has hip lighting and decor. It even has an outdoor patio. We stopped by right before the Pulp show. There was only one person working and she had her hands full with the long line of people waiting for a drink. They seemed to be out of regular glasses because of the demand. My friend had a shot glass of champagne as there weren't other glasses. My drink was El Salvatore and one of my friends got an old fashioned served in a shot glass. My glass was the only one that had a normal glass. It's something I haven't seen before happen, but again the line was massive and only one bartender. Hope this isn't a recurring thing.

Had fun at Larry's - super laid back vibe to catch up with friends. My friend and I both had the bartender make us a drink based on our liquor of choice, which was fun. My friend's drink was lit on fire, which was a fun little experience!

The vibes here are perfect - elevated and classy cocktail bar meets dive bar meets library coffee shop. Probably could sit in this building all day. The lobby atrium space has so many great seating options for working and I noticed the cute coffee bar as well. Would be such a great spot for working from home! Larry's itself was classy, dimly lit, and timeless, open to the atrium so you could hear the live jazz band playing beautifully in the background. And the cocktail menu was soooo good! I only got red wine but the names of the drinks and the presentation was immaculate. This is a hidden gem that I would go out of my way to come back to!

Larry's is a bar tucked in the lobby of a new apartment building on Lawrence. It's a chill spot to catch up with friends and be able to hear each other over the music. You can stay in the bar area or if you need more space, you could take your drinks out to the space in the lobby area. The bar area is small but there's plenty of seating and it wasn't too crazy busy even on a Friday night. I loved the aesthetic the red lighting gave to the bar space and the funky art on the walls. They had great cocktails at Larry's! They have a cocktail of the week and a dealer's choice. I highly recommend getting the dealer's choice. You tell the bartender the type of liquor and drinks you normally like, and they surprise you with something! The bartenders were amazing and whipped up a cool drink for me that was floral + tequila. I would definitely come back here!

Unique location, located in a part of residential building. There is a spacious lobby next to the bar, and customers can take drinks to the lobby or even to the couch and coffee table areas. I felt like I was in my friend's place and chilling. The art on the walls is fun to watch. I wish they had more cocktail options. A cocktail came with a metal straw and I wish they used regular straw for sanitary reasons

What a special, unique place. I love Larry's and cannot wait to come back again. My husband and I are semi-determined to make it our local haunt. Great bar if you're looking for somewhere cool, quiet, and has good drinks. Larry's is located in the lobby of an apartment building. The bar itself is off to the side in a dimly lit cove with some seating. You are welcome to bring your drinks out into the immaculately decorated lobby. They have curated some great, vintage pieces for this place. It makes a great impression. We opted to do this instead of stay in the bar area. It's nice as long as you're comfortable with the lobby traffic. We were there maybe around 9 or 10. There is a light but steady flow of residents coming in and out. It does detract from the experience in some ways because you are distracted by looking at people and feeling them probably look at you. But at the same time, it was still really nice. I'd love to come during the day when it's a coffee shop. A really unique space.

I'm kinda into this place. It's a unique little bar right off the lobby of the Lawrence House - you actually have to walk through to find it. On a Saturday evening around 5, there weren't many people in the bar yet but there were some scattered around the lobby studying. There's tons of different seating options, and Larry's lets you take your drink wherever as long as you bring the glass back. Generally, the bartenders were pretty cool and helpful. I was super indecisive about which cocktail to order but was pointed in the right direction with the Lady Louise. My friend ordered a whiskey drink that was also very good. She lives near Uptown so I suspect we'll be back!

Larry's from the lobby area. What a cool hang out building. Loving Larry's!

I scanned the QR code and went to the bathroom. As I walked back there, I noticed there were 4 open spots at the bar and there were 6 2-top tables set up, which was confusing because there was a 45 minutes wait. Walking back from the bathroom I thought I would ask the bartender if the seating at the bar was also reserved by through the waitlist. I walked up ( did not attempt to sit down as that part of the bar was not clean) and the bartender started rudely saying "have you spoken to the host " I said yes but I had a question, and she continuously said " you have to speak to the host." I told her that I just had a question for her then she rudely said again "sometimes we use this as seating so-rry." My partner and I decided to leave after that. I had never been treated that way in my life. I open my mouth to say something and I couldn't because I was rudely interrupted. I felt like I was hurried out of the area. After being here countless times before and exploring the menu with friends and family, I don't think I will ever come back as this left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to go back when you feel you were discriminated against. My partner and I felt like we were that night as the attitudes and behaviors from the bartender and hostess were rude.

After leaving the symphony, we wanted somewhere nearby to grab a meal and have a good conversation, so we ended up at Miller's Pub at 134 S. Wabash. My colleague had made a reservation, but honestly, it didn't seem necessary, you can easily walk in. Miller's Pub is a longtime Chicago staple, and we were seated quickly. The space is much larger than it appears, with a classic Irish pub feel and an antique charm that gives it a lot of character. Our server was enthusiastic, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the night, which we appreciated. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of dishes. I kept it simple with a salad topped with carrots and chicken, it was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. One of my colleagues ordered a chicken sandwich, and another got what might have been the most massive fish tender I've ever seen. If I ate fish, I definitely would've tried it, and she said it was really good. Unfortunately, what really impacted our experience was the atmosphere. There was a choir conference happening nearby, and a large group of attendees came into the pub and started singing, loudly and continuously, throughout the evening. While it was entertaining for the first couple of songs, it quickly became overwhelming and disruptive. It didn't seem like other patrons were enjoying it either, there was little to no engagement or applause, and I found myself wishing the staff had stepped in to tone things down a bit. I understand that a bar environment can bring in all kinds of energy, but this went on far too long and really took away from the experience we were hoping to have. Based on the food alone, I'd give Miller's Pub 3 out of 5 stars. But factoring in the overall experience, it's closer to a 2.5 out of 5 for me.

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! I was slightly thrown off, as the dining tables are at the front of this space, and the bar is all the way at the back. In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The brews were tasty, but I couldn't really discern what I was drinking apart to say it was a lighter Belgian Ale. Wine is more in my wheelhouse, but always good to change things up, especially when a person has the opportunity to be guided by an expert. The people seated nearby had ordered the tuna tartare which looked delicious. In fact, all of the menu is globally influenced (think: pizza samosas, pierogis, Korean BBQ) in addition to the classic brewpub favorites. In addition to the Brewpub, this location features the Millroom, a speakeasy-style lounge. I did not have a chance to check that out on this visit. Definitely a cut above the usual sports bar and a place to expand one's knowledge of brews.
