    Tater tot's

Such a cute bar! It's moody and quite dark inside. I've been a few times, one of which had live music, and the performer was so impressive she crushed it. We came for the martinis on happy hour which can be made gin or vodka. We also got the tater tot's which I have to say have no business being that good for tater tot's. They also came with a side of cheese dip and queso. I have noticed a price increase recently as the martinis are now $9. Still not bad! I just miss the $5 ones haha

Another cute joint opens up in Edgewater! A bar that shares the Lonesome Rose kitchen - so great food from there is available. This review is for the bar area only. But we loved it! Friendly bartender, drinks were mixed well, and excellent service. The decor is what I'd call "Grandmacore" - it had a 70's living room vibe, which was fairly amusing. All in all, a positive experience, will be back for happy hour!

I like this bar. It's cozy, unique, interesting, and inviting. Our bartender was great and she was friendly. We just had drinks, but they were good. Wine on draft is a good idea, but my red wine was straight up cold. Once it warmed up a little I could taste it more. They have a Malort cocktail called Chicago River Spritz I think. Malort fans will love it! They also have a happy hour with $5 vodka or gin martinis if that's your jam. I'd like to come back and try out their burger and tots. Best for groups of 2-4, but I think there's one larger table near the back. Or you could just get a bigger table next door at Lonesome Rose.

Because it is located in the lobby of the apartment building, it is not something you see from the street. The bar itself is very small, but there are multiple seating options outside of the actual bar. You are permitted to take your drink to the lobby or to the outside patio area. Both are nice and allow for a pleasant drinking experience, but folks that live in the building sit there as well, on laptops or reading. The vibe of the bar is super chill, with this crazy red hue that I love. I am not a big cocktail person per se, but if you are into them like The Queen is, then you are in for a treat. There are also non-alcoholic selections for wines, beers and cocktails for those that require that. In addition they also have bubbles, so that is a win for me. In addition to great cocktails and bubbles, they also do "Summer Movie Nights" on the patio. You can bring a blanket, grab a drink and enjoy. Larry's does not serve food, but you can order something to eat from The Uptown Deli (which has good sandwiches). There is street parking on Sheridan and it is about two blocks from the Lawrence Street El stop (once it opens again). Now that I am aware of its existence, I will be back to chill and have bubbles, and maybe catch a movie.

I swear there is nowhere else in the Chicago area (at least that I've found) where you'll find daily specials that affordable. On a Monday night they had several specials, but we opted for the 'Big Ass Long Islands' which were huge and only $5 each. Considering inflation in 2022 as well as post pandemic pricing, this place and its daily specials reminds me of dive bar pricing from like 2015. You can literally munch of some free popcorn that cooks itself in the corner and change the music on the juke box as well. They also have a decent sized patio for those warmer days/nights! I'd love to come back here on a weekend and feel the vibe. I also must note that whoever the bartender was that took care of us as soon as we walked in, was very friendly and hospitable! I'll be back!

Service is great very attentive even if you sit in the second floor. I love the close up magic performances during cocktail hour. The show itself was so impressive, as were the magicians that came up to your table to do tricks beforehand. Drinks were also great. The vip performance after the show was also nice and intimate. There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!

I am happy to report that the place has not changed: still a chill vibe and an impressive beer/cider list if that is your jam, plus bubbles for me. Uptown opens from 4 pm to 4 am, so this was the place I use to hang out before shows at the Aragon and the Rivera before and after shows. The lounge still has the booths and tables as options if you don't want to sit at the bar, but me and The Queen sat at the bar. Uptown sort of reminds me of a TARDIS, it is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside when you are just strolling by. spread out around its surprisingly spacious interior. The Queen ordered the Raspberry Beret and said it was great, followed by a Blakes's El Chavo cider (Habanero and Mango). She is big lover of ciders and according to her they have a decent list to select from. They also serve coffee in the morning, which is new for me. Not sure how that work in terms of the place being open and I don't know if they allow you to bring food into the place or not, I didn't think to ask. I do remember back in the day you could order from Papa Ray's (which closed some time ago), I will have to inquire about this as it would be nice to spend a leisurely nosh over drinks while sitting at the bar. Service was good. There were two ladies behind the bar. I think one was in training. Both were talkative but in a good way, and they took care of us. Because we were there at 4ish, it was pretty quiet and I did not mind that. The Doctor ended up joining us after completing his errands and we had a great time. We definitely will be adding this to our rotation of places to chill and have a drink.
