I did my research and wanted to check out the performance bar beforehand - PSA you do not need a ticket for this and can go enjoy drinks and tricks any time! This was so cool but intimate and small so not much space and fills up quickly. The speakeasy door is also so cool though a line will likely form outside right before shows so be prepared for that. My husband and I bought Magic show tickets to celebrate a recent college grad in the family. We bought the front row tickets, which also gets you access to the VIP after show (30 minutes)! I thought the tickets were worth that perk alone in addition to being front and center. The talents were superb! I truly enjoyed every act. I loved the pre-show magic tricks at each table. It made the experience very intimate and engaging. I loved that the MC called out each and every celebration that night! I was pleasantly surprised. We saw the close-up show. It was super engaging and the magicians were all very impressive. I like how they interacted with the audience. Seating is a bit close together, but it's a cozy environment overall. It was easy to see wherever you're seated. We were all the way up in the back and still had a great view. This place is so cool! I came here with some friends when they first opened their doors. The exterior looks just like a laundromat, but when they order the doors--it opens to a beautiful lounge. A truly magical experience. My family has made a tradition out of going to the Chicago Magic Lounge for the past couple of years around Thanksgiving and every experience has been 5 stars! The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and run a very efficient operation. You start by checking in and your party is led through a deceiving laundromat into the lounge. To the left of the entrance is a bar where you can get drinks before or after the show and watch some bar magic. To the right is a little library room with awesome, authentic memorabilia. The fire place opens and you're taken into the main show room. The vibe in here is awesome--it's dark, moody, and perfectly theatrical. Our party was seated in the first row! For the first hour, it's a cocktail hour. Servers will come around and take drink and food orders. I had the Gone With a Tres (super yummy) and my partner had the hot apple cider special. He really enjoyed it. We also split some fries which were really good! Our server, Will, was extremely friendly and attentive!! During the cocktail hour, magicians will come to your table and do Chicago Close-Up Magic. Magic Sam was hilarious and roped a few members of our party into his trick! The main show had an opener and a headliner. Both magicians were amazing and so funny! There were some opportunities to help out so if that's your thing be sure to get the tickets that let you sit up close! We laughed a lot and were so amazed (and very confused haha) at all the tricks! The main acts were about an hour as well. Since we had the premium tickets, after the show we were taken to the 654 Club. This is an intimate, smaller theater, where another magician will do some more close up magic. It's a really cool experience!! Chicago Magic Lounge never ceases to amaze our family! We are so happy to have started this tradition and look forward to celebrating there. I LOVE this place. Seriously. Start with the entrance and the secret way in. That leads to the bar (which is small) and the magician on duty at the time. So good and so fun. Then you go tot he main show, but there is also a show before the show right at your table. And they are so stupid good at the magic that they do! There is some food here, and it's okay. Not great, and over priced. But good for a snack. The drinks are surprisingly not highway robbery, which is a nice surprise. The servers are extremely nice and efficient and willing to help you out or help celebrate your special occasion. But the obvious star of the show is the magicians. Absolutely brilliant. INCREDIBLE. Been hearing about this place for months now and finally gotten around to going.. I'd recommend coming early or check out the front bar (no entry fee) with "bar side" magic. Then the main show was out of this world with a world renowned performer. Drinks and food were stellar. We went for the premium tickets and absolutely worth the extra cost as he got an additional (our THIRD) show in their back close-up, intimate theater after the main show. OK, this place just totally blew me away! My friends took me out for my birthday and we got reservations in the front row center and all the magicians that evening were incredible especially the main event. Also we did the post show magic in the smaller back room which was really cool and very unique. The drinks and food were all great and service was outstanding. I would absolutely come back here the next time we're in Chicago and would highly recommend it if you're looking for something fun and unique to do while you're in town. My friend who lives in Chicago told us this is the best one in Chicago, and every now and then they have celebrity magicians come in, which was the case during our night...and we had no idea. This is a cool place to take a date you might be trying to impress. Probably not as exciting for a couple who's been together forever unless one of them is really into magic. The good: All the staff and entertainment are REALLY on their game and hustlin to show you a good time. Tip your performers! From the moment you walk in the door, there's a ton of kitsch and glitz to catch your eye and your fancy. No, you didn't accidentally walk into a laundromat! Hah! There are multiple stages and rooms to catch different styles of magic. They've got magicians from all over visiting. The place is jumping and the host is very enthusiastic and gives a lot of history about the magic scene. I'm really surprised that I didn't like this more. I'm really into fringe theater, clowns, weird entertainment and the like, but I've decided magic just isn't my thing. The bad: This place is not handicap accessible. Maybe they could squeeze you in and work with you but everything is tight and bustling and big person or chair bound person is going to feel incredibly uncomfortable. I know I did. Magic is not for the skeptical or the person who can't help but look for the trick of it. I guess that's me because I could either SEE the trick occurring or if I couldn't figure it out, I felt dumb, rather than awestruck. This is more of a commentary on ME than the venue. But the thing is...the more something costs, the more I need to be amazed. And I wasn't $75 + cost of drinks worth of amazed. The crowd was also full of drunks and hecklers. State Farm did their Christmas party there I guess and they would NOT shut up. In the bar magic area, Derek was doing a fabulous job and really hamming it up but everyone in the booths were damn near ignoring him and talking about dumb stuff no one cares about so loud we couldn't hear the jokes and tricks Derek was slinging. And I get it...tip your performers! But please don't jam it down my throat that you're looking for tips. I could hear his tip jockeying better than I could hear the content of the tricks. read more

One of the coolest places in Chicago. Don't be afraid of the upper level seats. They offer a unique magic experience. I'd avoid sitting at tables B7 and B8 because tables B3 and B4 will impede the vision of the whole show. You will also have wait staff walking back and forth in front of you most of the show. The closer you sit to drink serving station near B5 and B1 the more you will hear exquisite cocktails being made which sometimes the glass clanking and martini shakers ruin the mystique of the illusion and storytelling where the magicians try to create a special moment with the audience. You can avoid all of these pitfalls by sitting in the upper levels! Still even the worst seat in the house is a highlight of your trip, just trying to make it even more special! Enjoy! read more

If you are looking for something unique and different to do in the north chicago area, this is a good option. The interior was very cool - they had a speakeasy entrance that leads you into a front bar & another room with the theatre. We opted into buying tickets to the theatre for the 10pm show. We thought this meant the show started at 10, but there was actually a cocktail hour at 10 and the show really started at 11, giving us plenty of time to order drinks/food and talk before it started. The price point didn't quite match our expectations. I would recommend just getting a drink at the front bar & watching a fee tragic tricks there instead. The ambiance was great and the crowd's energy really added to the experience. Although we didn't try any of the food Chicago Magic Lounge had to offer, the menu looked quite good. Our server even brought us a celebratory pair of sparkling champaign for our anniversary. Definitely worth checking out for a new experience!! read more

I have been here four times now and I will continue to come back! The employees here are all so nice and the service is always wonderful. When you buy tickets, you have the option to do the show or the show + the secret lounge. The secret longue is worth doing if you're able to splurge because it's a bit more of an intimate magic show after the main show. If you don't feel like splurging for the secret lounge, there is magic at the front bar that is always funny and intriguing so make sure you don't miss this front bar experience! When you are seated, there are different magicians that come around to your table to do close-up magic with you. It's super fun and makes you feel a little extra special since it's almost like a "personal mini show". This is a perfect experience to celebrate something special or a date night! read more

You then enter a "laundry room" before getting to the bar area. The concept of this place is awesome. There's magic going on at the bar while you wait. And then before the main show a few magicians will come by your table for some close up table magic. We then enjoyed the main show and since we had premium tickets we got to stay and go to a more intimate showing at the end. There's small bites to eat available to order as well as drinks. What a great venue, staff and management. This is a long story, so hang in there. Prior to Covid, our group had bought tickets to a show and were super excited...cut to the world shutting down and shows being paused. Not a big deal we thought, happy to have provided them money and hoped they would survive the shut down. Cut to 5 years later and a group of us are hanging out at the bar chatting and laughing about how we had a 5 year old credit and still had never been to an actual show (just the bar and bar magic). Unkown to us, the owner was standing right next to us, introduced himself and mentioned that he would LOVE if we would redeem those credits and come back for a show. He even went out of his way to track down the 5 year hold credit and confirm it was still available to us. This past Tuesday, we were finally able to make it happen. The place is great! We were allowed into the seating area an hour before the show and were greeted with multiple magicians doing table side magic. Our server, Carly, quickly introduced herself and was super attentive throughout the evening. The show itself was spectacular. The magicians were funny, quick witted, and great at their craft.. During the intermission, the owner popped by our table to mention he had heard we were coming that evening and thanked us . The entire place: staff, food, drinks, ambiance was great. We can't wait to share our experience and go back. It wont be another 5 years, thats for sure. read more

This magic lounge is legit! As you can see in the video there is the laundromat that you enter thru, but the entrance is so small that it doesn't actually look like a real laundromat but still a cool thing to see. Everyone here is so nice, the servers and magicians/comedians. Hostesses bring you to your little table then your server comes by to take orders and everything. They have magicians that come by to your table and do personal 1 on 1 magic tricks for you which is awesome! We then ordered the fried chicken sliders and they were super good! Great piece of chicken with some pickles and coleslaw and Mayonnaise, super tasty! The magic show was freakin awesome! The magician (Michael Kent) was so good and also very funny! It was his last night in Chicago before traveling elsewhere for another show I believe. He was so good! We then were welcomed to a behind the stage private show with another magician. Five stars, five stars, five stars! I took my partner here to celebrate our anniversary and we had the most incredible time! Let's start with the venue: it was magic upon arrival, the door staff were peasant and chatty while we waited to enter. The speakeasy entrance is such a fun touch as first timers and the welcome spiel was such a fun way to kick off the experience. Once we headed into the show area, it was glamorous and had an old-timey feel. Service- Stacey was our server and she was FANTASTIC! She welcomed us promptly, checked in throughout the evening, and had a little anniversary surprise for us. F&B- I do not drink alcohol and the mocktails were great! I loved how inclusive the menu is in that aspect. We didn't have any food this go around as we were stuffed from dinner but hoping to try some bites next time we are in. The show- the pre-show magicians were so fun and interactive, Ryan and Devin were delightful! The show itself was funny, personable, and truly jaw dropping. My cheeks hurt from grinning by the end! The entire experience at the magic lounge is thoughtfully-curated from the second you walk in the door. The decor is amazing, the menu is diverse but small enough to execute well, and having the magicians visit each table to do private tricks while ordering/waiting for your food is genius. I've never seen live magic, but I've seen top-tier stand up, and this is top tier standup *and* magic. I couldn't believe how entertaining it was! We laughed until my back hurt. What a great experience! I sat in the front row with my boyfriend on our 10th anniversary trip. Before the main event, there are many magicians that come around and do a short set at your table, and after there's an opening act and main act. All the whole you can order food, snacks, drinks!! Because we sat in the front, we got access to an extra show afterwards in this intimate backroom. And after THAT, there's a magician at the bar you can watch. We caught a later showing and ended up spending about 4 hours total here, getting in a little early to get settled and then staying after at the bar. This is also in a cute area away from downtown (I think), and there are some nearby bars we checked out that were fun. I would 100% go again! read more

I've been here a few times for the Signature show. I highly recommend getting tickets early so that you can reserve premium seats (front row, main floor, main floor banquette) so that you can get guaranteed seats for the after show in the 654 club for an extra show with close up magic. Tip: If you don't have a premium ticket, you can wait around after the show and if the 654 club doesn't fill up you might still be able to get in! Also if you want to see close up magic there's the bar that's open to the public without a ticket. But that area seems to fill up quickly. The signature show also has close up magic for the first hour of the show where magicians do magic right at your table. It's so cool to see! Food and drinks are pretty decent and service is great!! Also the bathroom is a must try, the toilets, IYKYK. The entrance is easy to miss. But parking is pretty easy to find in the area. It's definitely a unique Chicago experience that I recommend for special occasions! read more

When I was investigating things to do on our most recent visit, this place popped up on several different lists I found online, so we thought it would be a fun evening out. Be sure you know the address, because when you arrive here, there is no obvious signage with the name of the place...it's all part of the fun! The theater is a fun, intimate space, where everyone has a great view of the action. They come around and offer food and drinks before the main shows start while magicians perform tracks right at your table. I would not have expected the food to be very good at a place like this, but the flatbread and fries were both quite tasty! The two featured magicians were both really impressive and demonstrated a great mix of wizardry and comedy. Because we had seats in the premium section, we got to see an extra show after the main show in a different theater - this show was just as good as the others! For my birthday, this year I didn't think I would do anything. I had a stroke so my ability to talk was very shaky and I had recently gained the ability to walk again without a walker and any support. I was embarrassed to talk so I really didn't want to do anything. I pushed myself because I thought "I'm alive, let me live." AND let me tell you, I'm GLAD I went to the Magic Lounge!! I laughed so hard and smiled all night long! I was able to release the pain I felt emotionally and just ENJOY the night! I enjoyed EVERY performer, even the ones that came to our table. This was honestly one of the coolest bar experiences in Chicago! I found out that this place was a fun speakeasy that has magic shows every night and knew I had to go! Somehow I magically got same day tickets but I heard usually you have to book this place in advance! My friend and I went to the showcase show where they show up close magic at your tables before the show but then two magicians do magic they've been recently experimenting with meaning that no show is ever the same! Not only was everyone working there super nice and fun, but I definitely got my fill of magic that night! It was so amazing and I still have no idea how any of it worked! For food, I had beef sliders and a passion fruit drink aka the sleight of hand. The sliders were good but the bread was thicker than expected which wasn't my fave but still good and the passion fruit drink was nothing exceptional but also pretty decent!
