Pom martini and First Slice pie

How I chuckle at my reviews of the past! To my former self from 9 years ago: I've been back for the lemon drop, and though martinis are my #1 favorite drink and lemon drop is my #1 favorite variety, I wouldn't get the one offered here. It was too vodka forward (I guess it can be a thing!), not enough lemon, and no sugar around the rim! BUT I will say the Pom(egranate) and French martinis are solid. These days, it's $15 for the regular sized martinis (about 10oz), which are filled to the brim, so follow the 3 sip rule... take 3 sips before you try to test your focus and balancing skills by carrying the glass back to your table. Note there isn't waiter service, so you gotta go to and from the bar on your own. The patio is lovely in the summers! My sassy scoundrels and I try to come monthly during the season and mosey in right around opening time to get the prime tables along the sidewalk. The inside is very narrow, very dark, and very loud, so highly recommend getting there early for outdoor seating. Did you know they also have a plentiful dessert martini list? I tend to avoid the sweeter, chocolatey martinis bc it weighs me down on summer nights. Lol. Wine is offered here too. Fun fact! No food served here, but snack mix is available upon request. Cheers!

Do not come to Marty's Martini Bar if you are not trying to get drunk because I cannot see a middle-ground existing! I have walked past Marty's for years and never stopped to visit because I am not a bring martini fan. But my friends and I decided to visit on a random Friday, earlier in the evening so we were able to grab seats at the bar rather easily. The inside of the bar gives a mix of diver bar and lounge. They have ample sitting for small groups but the tables go fast. They have a large side patio that was packed and I didn't even try to wait for a seat to free up. When I say they do not play about the martinis they do not play! After watching the bartender make two of my friend's drinks I almost fell over. The one suggestion I would make is ask for a specific vodka if you don't want the random default bottom shelf vodka. Ordered the French Martini and it was good. The default size the bartender gave us was 10oz and after he explained to us how many shots were in the drink I drank it slow. After one martini I was talking to anyone that would sit next to me because they were very strong and I am a chatty drunk! The loved my visit to Marty's because everyone was very friendly. I cannot imagine you visiting Marty's and not leaving without a new friend.

my first time at marty's was great! i was there for pride so it was extremely shoulder to shoulder packed. Someone did tell me that this isn't the usual on a normal weekend. the martinis tasted delicious and the bartender was super busy but was knocking the drinks out so quick. the ambiance is half dive bar but half a bit upscale. cannot wait to go back.

    Chilling at Marty's Martini Bar.

I love Marty's Bar and staff. Super drinks and ambiance. So many great memories and good times.

Classic martinis at Marty's love this little joint!! Great staff and really friendly people inside. Had a great time.

This bar was adorable. Hit it up for martinis and sat right in the window. Such a cute bar with a great staff and the friendliest of people inside.

Consistent menu and experience is key for success. And I can say that Marty's is here to stay because of their delicious drinks. The ambiance is lively inside the bar or outside their outdoor area. This martini bar is a gem!

I miss Marty's soooooo much! So here are some things I love about Marty's: -The space is small and cozy and is the perfect neighborhood bar -Drinks are expertly crafted and they are definitely worth the money (read:STRONG and delicious) AND the drinks come in 2 sizes so you can tailor your tipsy level :) -All of the staff are so friendly and fun to hang with -Marty's supports great causes and have awesome fundraising events for various local organizations I love Marty's-I hope everyone there is staying healthy-I so look forward to returning in 2021(please let it be 2021) for some great drinks and good times!

Lovely elegant space, but small, so get there early. But the martinis are big and they are not for the weak of heart. I usually do one big one and switch over to bubbles. It's not that the staff don't know what they are doing, they do it too well. I don't think a lot of people realize how much alcohol goes into a martini, especially the ones at Marty's, so you had better buckle up if you are going to have more than two. Otherwise you will find yourself on the floor like one of the patrons over the weekend :-) Service is great here and they actually will try and seat you if there is space. When getting bubbles, they always serve it in a cold flute. When the weather is warmer, they have a very cute patio to hang out in outside next to the building. Some folks complain about the prices, but for the size of the martinis and the punch they carry, it is well worth the price.

Marty's Marty's Marty's!! Where do I even begin? I absolutely love this neighborhood Andersonville Martini bar! It is one of my favorite gay bars not only in the neighborhood but in Chicago! It's not the biggest place so it can get crowded but really though who cares? I certainly don't! The space is not big so if you're visiting please don't complain about how tiny the place is it's a neighborhood martini bar not a big martini bar in downtown Chicago. Been coming here for awhile and I must say that the martinis can be strong so just be careful of how much you drink coz you will get drunk, they have a wide selection of delicious martinis and cocktails so you have plenty of choices. This is one of the places you want to start your night out before you go to other bars in Andersonville, during the warmer months they have the patio open as well however the space isn't the biggest so just expect for it to be crowded. The bartenders are very welcoming and they know how to make good drinks for sure! I do believe that they have some deals weekly i believe and if you enter your birthday you'll definitely get your birthday martini. I've certainly gotten some during my birthday. One of the best martini bars in Chicago! I really wish that they will expand to a bigger space but i could understand the intimacy of this establishment. Love love Marty's

A spot where someone could walk in, maybe order a drink, and listen to some music without first opening Ticketmaster and shelling out half your paycheck to their junk fees. Some of their performances are free, and some have a reasonable cover of $10-20. There are also performances every night, sometimes even in the afternoon. The vibe inside is dimly lit and very old-timey. Even the bathroom had a bar of soap! I haven't seen a bar outside of a private residence! For sure, the vibe fits the history. Green Mill used to be a spot visited by Big Al himself. Yes, there are still connected tunnels used by the mob, no, you cannot see them. In terms of the bar, do not expect anything special. Their menu is limited to the beers, wines, and champagnes they have. They have spirits, but no cocktail menu - while they *might* be able to mix something simple like a Manhattan, be prepared for basic drinks along the lines of a gin & tonic. The service was fine, but a little abrupt. Not the best welcoming or inviting, but gruff and surly in a way that is probably cute to regulars, but less so to newcomers like myself. Final verdict: Green Mill is a place one comes for the music and the vibe and to get away from life for a little bit. It appears to be a third place for many regulars. It's worth giving a shot, as long as one is ready for an experience that's a little rough around the edges, arguably by design.

It was also approachable, lightly herbaceous, with a little sweetness and acid. Between us, was this among my favorites? No. However, this is more a matter of personal taste than something technically or otherwise wrong. I prefer cocktails that are bolder and more spirit forward. My advice is to talk to your bartender and find something you will enjoy most. To help not drink on an empty stomach, I ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tacos. As far as bar (gastropub?) food, these were extremely respectable. The shrimp was cooked very well, and the use of greens and onions helped offer a balance and freshness. As a note, the space inside is small and intimate, and I've no complaints about the service. Final verdict: If you're looking for a unique cocktail, in a small and intimate space, the Elixir Lounge fits the bill. A friend and I went here last night…read more I wouldn't recommend it at all. The performers overall were just meh. It was entirely over-priced for what it is. $15 cover charge per person plus there's a 2 drink minimum ($12-15 per drink for weak rail drinks) with an 18% automatic gratuity. You're also expected to tip every single time a new performer comes around for each song. If it was top notch performers, I'd have no problem at all with this but overall, they were ok to meh to just not good. The worst thing about this place though and what really even prompted me to leave a review at all was our server. She was horrible and flat out rude! She came around after about 35 minutes and asked if we would like another drink. We replied "We're good for now. Thank you." And she snapped back, "You need to buy two drinks each. There's a 2 drink minimum." We were like, "Umm, ok. When we finish these drinks we'll order another one." And after she walked away my friend and I both looked at each other and were like, "WTF was her problem?" ZERO customer service skills. Uhh, maybe inform us of that fact without being a complete female dog? I have no problem with a two drink minimum and we planned on getting another drink anyway, but when we're not quite ready for our next drink, don't treat us like a misbehaved child and scold us. She could have simply stated, "Just to let you know, there is a two drink minimum per person. Just let me know when you're ready for your next round," or something similar that didn't scold or reprimand us. Her bad attitude just really pissed me off. When ordering our second round of drinks, I had ordered a long island iced tea. She brought me the wrong drink. So in addition to her attitude, her attention to detail also sucked. I said nothing and just drank it as it was a screwdriver, which I ordered the first round. But to be rude and bad at your job? Truly check yourself, lady. We're customers who did nothing wrong. Can you maybe put forth a single ounce of effort to not be such a See You Next Tuesday? The second star is for the effort that 4/5 of the queens at least put forth. It was the right move because it had the kind of chill vibe we were seeking after a long flight from SFO. Fortunately there were two seats at the bar with our names on them. Figuratively speaking. They had quite a signature cocktail list on hand, and we felt it was our obligation to try as many as we could. At least that was what we said to ourselves as the evening wore on. Each cocktail was $14. We started with a couple of familiar libations. Jamie ordered the Mint Julep, a delightfully Deep South mix of bourbon, simple syrup, and fresh mint (photo: https://yelp.to/u-td8LdPLj). I went further south with the Pineapple Margarita which was emboldened by a tropically potent mix of pineapple infused tequila, lime juice, and agave (photo: https://yelp.to/V-Sf6Q_2qK). We got a bit bolder with our second round and found mixed results. Jamie had the Not Your Mom's Daiquiri which amped up the margarita by blending pineapple-infused tequila with Bacardi 8-year rum. Along with fresh lime and simple syrup, this one definitely had more of a kick (photo: https://yelp.to/1ZijDf6wMV). However, my order, the Pontiac Pony, was a spicy miss for me. It was a rather oddball mix of apple-cinnamon infused vodka, pear liqueur, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and ginger beer (photo: https://yelp.to/5dQoFdzG98).
