Had a bad experience here when I called to make an appt they did not tell me they only take cash after I was half way done with my nails when I noticed the sign that said cash only so I told the lady no one told me this when I called. My usual nail salon was closed on the day that I had planned to get my nails done, so I decided to give this one a shot. The lady's were very nice, and respectful towards the customers, as well as me n be my little brother. The place wasn't at all crowded so they started on my nails almost immediately w/ no wait. They have free drinks, juice n other beverages that u can enjoy while there, so those are the upsides of the salon, at least for me. However.... I had previous nails on from a different salon n asked them if they could remove them gently. The removal was so painful that my nail started bleeding, my my cuticles were sliced. A few of my real nails had broken in half because of the roughness of the removal. The woman simply continued 2 the rest of my nails w/ a nail drill which was even more painful. The nails themselves came out nice in the end, but I could see that the nails were starting to lift already after just one day. The nails lasted a week, before all of them had either started 2 lift drastically or completely fall off. For reference, my last acrylics had lasted me a month without any sort of lifting, n were only 20$ more than what they charged me here. The nail salon also is cash only, which is not at all clarified when u first enter. The lady's forgot 2 mention it when I asked about pricing. I only saw the sign all the way in the back of the store halfway into getting my nails done. One of the lady's kept on making snide comments when I refused a eyebrow wax, and it made me feel a tad embarrassed. I have been coming here since I was 16 and I am a few months shy of my 40th birthday. To say I have seen techs and management come and go in an understatement, I should just put in a bid next time it's up for grabs..lol! Anyway, when it comes to my nails there are moments when I go through all round/square pink and white french for like months. Then there are times when I immerse myself in IG and Google of various nails designs and want to take one detail from one set and another from another pic and so on and so forth. Let's just say I am going through that bout of crazy now. When I first started going to Hanna I liked how fast she was. How welcoming she is and has a real conversation with you. She's just not a tech and you are not just a customer. She went on maternity leave and let me tell you I made do but it was difficult because there were so many pending designs I wanted. So when I messaged her on IG (her name is nails_byhanna87) if you want to see her work, to ask when she would be back I also sent her 3 pictures with an explanation of what I wanted..see a certain type of crazy I can be! Please see Exhibit "A' my hand photoshoot..lol! This place is located a short distance off 85 in South San Jose. It's a strip mall so parking is plenty. You are greeted promptly and when seated are offered a beverage since they have a fridge in the back that is kept well stocked. Hanna had my old set popped off and this new set done in under 2 hours. She charged me $60 altogether. So decently priced. I also have my pedicures done here and they line the soaking tubs with plastic, open tools in front of you and a pedicure, with paraffin treatment, 5-minute in chair back massage, hot stones on your calves and shins, heating pad on your shoulders and polish and dry will run you like $40. There are many techs at any given time that do both mani/pedi and nails. They also offer waxing in the back room. Their bathroom is clean and always neatly stocked. The gentleman that is their receptionist and owner is pretty pleasant and has even changed the tv channel for me so that I could watch a Warriors game. They are cash only and for their patrons convenience provide an in-house atm that charges a nominal fee. Here's the real nitty gritty I know everyone always jokes about how it always feels as if the techs are talking about you but this place has never made me feel like that. What I wanted vs What I Got. Barely 10 minutes in the technician had already cut me and left to handle another costumer. She returned back in a rush; not giving me any signals of how she want my hand to postured, instead pulling, digging her nail into my skin, and aggressively putting tools down. Oh and also I was greeted and sat with 20% of the workers without masks on within standing distances. My previous nail polish was not fully wiped off either. Being in the rush she didn't follow the design I showed her of: two fingers having EXPANDED flowers on each hand. I didn't get it because she was too distracted and forgot. I been coming here for over a year and I haven't had much of a problem until the a few months ago until now. They always done a great job, very nice, free drinks like soda and water, and I enjoyed coming here. This is my problem with them. I came in for a basic manicure and pedicure just to clean up my hands. They kept bugging me about getting deluxe manicure and pedicure. I kept saying no and every time I said no, they all sit there and laugh and mock me in Vietnamese. This also happened when they noticed how bad my eyebrows were. They all laughed. I was humiliated in a nail salon. One woman did my nails for my wedding and to my horror, the tips were coming off the day of my wedding. All but 2 nails survived. I came in to have it fixed and she tried to charge me for her mistake!!! I said absolutely not!!! I been getting nail dil after that and that was going well until they rush and mess it up. I've been coming here for 3 months now, 3 out of 10 nails peeled within 5 days( I only got gel), I couldn't come back right away, I have work and by the time I could come here it would have been closed. Long story short I come to them to fix it and they charge me for it! When previously I have been told that if I come within 7 days it would be no charge. I've been to this place a few times now. Twice to get my nails done and they did a great job and kept to my appointment time on schedule which is really important for me. I have tight schedule since I am a working mom and I have to juggle between work, kids activities and home responsibilities. I also took my daughter and her friends to get their nails done for her birthday and the staff was super friendly and accommodated all our requests. I got sat within 10-15 mins which wasn't bad at all. I sat with Amy and showed her the color I wanted. I asked for a shorter style and she told me up front that it would be $30 for everything I wanted.. most definitely not bad at all! Neat and clean nail Salon with some convenient technology (chargers for phone/tablet at every pedicure chair). I was there for a gel manicure and gel polish change on my toes. Amy worked on my toes at the same time while Kim worked on my nails. I had a very specific design that I found on Pinterest that I wanted and they were both very patient and detailed on making sure that both my nails and toes were to my liking. I was visiting town and a friend recommended this nail salon. She specifically mentioned I go to John because he does an awesome job.... she was right!! The salon is kind of hidden, so you'll have to look out for it, also they only accept cash. Although if you forget to bring cash, they have an ATM inside. The salon itself is pretty clean and spacious, also everyone is very friendly. I came in with my husband to get pedicures(and full set for myself), they made sure to joke with us and make the experience comfortable for him which is a plus because usually he hates accompanying me. The only reason why I am not giving this five stars is because I called two days ahead of time and made an appointment with John and when we arrived John had barely started doing another clients nails. Which in part was fine because I didn't mind getting my pedicure first, however I believe the experience would have been better had they had better time management. Had I been someone who didn't have the time to wait, my final review might not be the same. Overall, my nails came out beautifully and if I'm ever in town I'll make sure I come see John to have my nails done again. I have got my nails done 3 times there and the 1st two times 1 nail broke the same day they were done. I blamed myself for one reason another but thennnnn my toe nail polish started chipping the 1st week which is odd because my toe polish always stays on at least 3 weeks! This last time I got my nails done, they looked so pretty!!! I loved them and got amazing compliments. Two days later one nail broke, 4 days later another broke, now today a 3rd broke. The way they all broke is caused by really cheap product they are using. I know if I went in, they'd be so kind and helpful but I think the bottom line is the products they use are not great quality.
