Takeout packaging
Jamie P.

Ordered the chorizo breakfast sandwich and chicken lumpia for takeaway on a rainy weekend, and they hit the spot! Ordered in advance on their website and everything was ready for pickup early, and was hot and fresh. Traveled well and was soooo delicious - the order of lumpia is quite generous and comes with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Parking in the Kentlands can be tricky, but I usually come up Market St E and there are often spots on the side of the movie theater. Then it's just a quick hop out of the car and across the street to Lapu Lapu's order pickup window on the square. Their packaging is adorable too! You won't be hungry after your meal - there are tons of lumpia to share, or it's enough for one person to make a meal out of it.

Second time here and thank goodness for Yelp so I can remember this place. It's a small outdoor setup-only six tables, but they're all shaded. Dog friendly! They had treats and even offered a water bowl for my pup, which I really appreciated. I tried the bistek and had mixed feelings. The meat was definitely juicy, but it lacked flavor. I was hoping to taste more of the classic lemon soy marinade, but it just didn't come through. Also, it was kind of messy to eat. On the bright side, the chorizo totally reminded me of longanisa, sweet pork, which was a nice nostalgic touch to my Filipino roots. Love that the sandwiches are made with the pan de sal bread. So soft and fresh. I also had the What a Spud, which was surprisingly good. The presentation overall was on point. Suggestion for the owners to allow an addition of different proteins to What a Spud like crumbled chorizo or spam, that'd be amazinggg! Overall, a solid 4 stars. A few things could be improved (mainly the bistek flavor), but I'll definitely be back to try more, spam and corned beef next!

Me and my fiance got the Bistec and Paksiw breakfast sandwiches. Both were amazing!!

Both sandwiches Bistec and Paksiw were so delicious!! We ate them in the car and are thinking we should go get another!

Chorizo egg breakfast sandwich

This review is just for take out only! I ordered online ahead of time and got the chorizo egg sandwich and an order of chicken lumpia. The chicken lumpia comes with 10 lumpias and they were pretty good in flavor. Loved dipping it in the sweet chili sauce. The breakfast sandwich was so bomb! The sweet and smokey chorizo with the egg and the cheese? Perfection. I enjoyed it very much! If I'm in the area again I would love to try more of the menu.

I stopped by Lapu Lapu on a sunny weekend morning and had such a great experience. It's a casual spot that operates out of a small kitchen window with just a few outdoor tables. I ordered the Spam breakfast sandwich, which was around $11, and it was delicious. The bread was toasted just right, the Spam had crispy edges, and the sauce added the perfect savory kick. It was surprisingly filling and totally hit the spot. They offer both Filipino-inspired and American-style breakfast sandwiches, so there's something for every kind of craving. You can tell they put real thought into the flavors. There's also a small sign by the window that shares the story behind the name Lapu Lapu--a Filipino hero who resisted colonization--which adds a meaningful cultural touch. Service was quick--I got my food within 10 minutes, even with a few people ahead of me. It's a great option if you want something fast but flavorful. I sat outside since it was a nice day, and the vibe was super relaxed. I'll definitely be back to try more sandwiches and their ube ice cream next time. Perfect for a quick grab-and-go breakfast or a casual weekend bite.

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had! Anytime someone has spam on the menu, I'm sold. Add fluffy scrambled eggs, melted cheese, all on a pan de sal buns and what else do you need? I accidentally ordered 2 sandwiches (don't ask) but can confirm they reheat well for breakfast the next day too! Only downside was they only have outdoor seating and since it started snowing on me while I was waiting for my order, I had to eat in my car.

Bistek Sandwich

GREAT food! I didn't know what to expect. I found this place through a The Washington Post article. I ended up getting the Bistek sandwich. It seemed like a lot of things on a sandwich but it blends extremely well. I'm not a fan of runny eggs but they did a great job with the way it was fried! There are both Filipino favorites and American classic sandwiches. It's more of a take out place but there is outdoor seating to enjoy your meal. Super friendly staff!

Tried this place on a whim needed food fast and was in the area. I had the bistek sandwich and I'll say it's a tasty and hearty sandwich. I also ordered the tater tots and I'd say love the crispness but a little too oily so didn't enjoy it too much. Service was quick and easy. There was some outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade, so you don't have to order and run-- which was nice.

Finally got around to checking out Lapu Lapu! We tried the bistek and corn beef sandwiches, and it hit the spot. Perfect breakfast sandwiches that were so delicious. The bread was so soft and both sandwiches were packed with flavor. The bistek had a good balance of tangy and savory. I really liked the garlic adobo mayo which helped balance all of the flavors. The corned beef was rich and satisfying. We also ordered the ube affogato and that was a real treat. Loved the nuttiness of the ube and creaminess of the ice cream. If you love Filipino flavors and are looking for great food, I recommend you check this place out!

Yelp has been TAUNTING me by asking if I have a review for Lapu Lapu yet because I kept looking at their ube soft serve, but I hadn't been because they are only open from 7am to 3pm. BUT I finally was able to swing by Kentlands after an errand and thought I could do with a breakfast sandwich and ice cream brunch. Since I knew I wanted to eat my soft serve at the end of my meal, I tried save them the extra credit card processing fee and ask if I could order all at once but get my ice cream (and a sandwich for my partner at home) at the end, but the person told me I could just place a separate order when I was ready for it. I got the tater tots with Cajun seasoning (yummmmm) and a bistek to enjoy at the little tables right in front of the ordering window. It was reallyyyyy good, and unfortunately for my partner, was too hard for me to save half of it for him to try as it was both too delicious and a little messy to split. Loved how moist and saucy and soft this was with nice punchy garlic aioli and some balance from the pickled onions. After I stuffed myself, I got the ube soft serve and a paksiw sandwich to take home with most of the tos. The ube soft serve seemed so enormous after I housed that breakfast sandwich, it felt like a little too much ice cream in that moment but I really loved eating every last bit of that beautiful purple cone that Yelp has been taunting me with photos of the past few months. Very delicious and I can't wait to come back.

This is my absolute favorite breakfast sandwich shop in Maryland! I found it searching for Ube flavored items. I quickly learned that Ube is commonly used in Filipino cuisine so it didn't take me long to find Lapu Lapu. It is hidden away in the Kentland Shopping Center. The hours are only for breakfast and lunch so get there early and double check the day of the week. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Customer service is always great. The inside of the kitchen/ordering station is loud but the employees are always friendly with great recommendations. I have met the owner before and he is always kind and welcoming. The restaurant's seating area is nicely decorated and welcoming. Often, I plan to take it to go but once I am there, I am inclined to sit and enjoy my fresh sandwich and Ube affogato or soft serve ice cream. The chicken lumpia is a great appetizer with a sweet sauce on the side. The spam sandwich is great. The bistek sandwich is my favorite. Both sandwiches usually end in a mess but a delicious mess, nonetheless. Definitely recommended.

Very delicious sandwiches and tarer tots. The tots are perfectly crunch and nicely seasoned. The bistek sandwich is made with the softest and freshest buns, meat is juicy and the egg adds that extra touch to make it memorable. I love the ube ice cream. It haunts me when i go more than a month without tasting it. Im so glad they have pints because not only can i enjoy it at the restaurant but can also have it in my fridge for whenever cravings hit.

The menu is short and sweet. It has just the right amount of items to get your mouth to water. I ordered the American Classic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. The eggs were softly scrambled, and i could hard keep the sandwich together and not waste any. It definitely hit the spot for me and reasonable prices. The services were great. I enjoyed the outdoor seating to soak up some sun, although today is a little overcast. Lapu Lapu is a very popular spot and is open 6 days and closed on Monday. I recommend this spot.

More of a casual restaurant vibe but enough tables with enough seating for multiple groups of different sizes, with plenty of room. Our waiter was very friendly, came and took our order after we took a while to decide. We weren't sure if we had enough food but our waiter said he thought we had enough but he left us a menu just in case. And he was very correct. The street food appetizer came out around the same time as pork belly. I loved the street food platter, particularly the rolls. The pork belly was also good, it just isn't usually my favorite item. Next came out a huge pile of fried pork, much much larger than we expected and very welcome. This along with the sauce it came with tasted great! And last we got our chicken adobo, which was probably my favorite item after the street food platter. Overall food was delicious, service was fast and good, and if you want some Filipino food you won't go wrong here!

Definitely would try a Kamayan again and would definitely check this place out again.

Filipino food is one of those comfort foods so of course what do I look for my first time visiting Baltimore? I happened to be in this neighborhood so decided to give this place a try. Luckily they weren't busy when we arrived so everything came out quickly. The Shanghai lumpia is on the smaller side, which is excellent for a taste teaser but if you're used to the bigger style you may be disappointed. The flavor was good, and the vinegar and sili added a nice hot and sour kick. The pork BBQ stick was marinated well and was my favorite. My wife actually liked it with the pinakbet more than the kawali, which I didn't mind cause it left more for me lol. The pinakbet was a hit for both of us as we haven't found many veggie dishes at the other Filipino restaurants that were fresh and crunchy. Most other places tend to go with the soupier veggie dishes (sinigang mostly, which is also good but I was feeling crunchy) so it was refreshing to have this. Ampalaya for the win! The only disappointment was the pork Adobo. Don't get me wrong, it was really good. It's just not the type we're used to which is Ilokano style (a little drier and crunchy with a lot more vinegar sour taste) so not a ding, more of a different taste preference. The only negative (not to us, but definitely to folks not used to it) is the lack of decor and the kind of... dinginess to the restaurant. Some of the best places in Hawaii have similar but scare those new to Filipino food. I could see having a hard time bringing newbies to this restaurant and convincing them that the food is good if they walk in and see the interior. All in all, my wife and I loved the place. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area again. So far, it's the best Filipino food we've had since moving to the DMV!
